Hi,
I just found out today that my mom has cancer(kidney). We're not sure yet how bad it is or how much it's spread but my mom absolutely does not want to do chemotherapy.I"ve been preparing to go raw & have gotten most of the supples i need.I showed Alissa's book to my mom & she wants to go raw with me. How helpful is going raw for cancer patients? I think I read somewhere that it's not good for cancer patients to eat too much fruit, supposedly the cancer cells "like" sweet things.
Any info or advise anyone can give me would be great as I"m not thinking clearly right now,I"m too full of fear.
Thanks
Carlene

There is a lot of promising research on cancer and alkaline diets, which raw should be. I don't know about kidney, but I know someone who is beating her lymph cancer with alkaline.
Best wishes to your mom.

Instead of chemo for stage 4, incurable, non Hodgkins lymphoma, my husband is using the raw diet in combination with IP6, mangosteen juice (Xango), green juicing and adding green power powders, vitamin supplements, trying to keep alkaline (no sugar except as naturally occurs in fruit), coconut oil, Prill water, and turmeric (the curcumoids have anti-cancer properties).
His doctor is supportive, especially since Paul has virtually NO symptoms, and looks and feels extremely healthy. He has lost weight on RAW, which he didn't need to, and his blood pressure dropped from 140/78 to 106/60 since we went on the diet about 5 months ago.

CAdreamer,
How is your husband doing with his lymphoma and raw diet, if you don't mind my asking?
I am also trying to heal my body after having had a cancerous polyp removed. I struggled with raw for the past year, but have gotten back on track and am doing well at being all raw. I am also taking an IP6 supplement, essiac tonic, and trying to boost my greens intake.
Thanks for your response...

Holland,
I'm sorry about your mother. Have you heard of Dr. Lorraine Day? Check out her book "Cancer Doesn't Scare Me Anymore" and tapes. She cured herself of advanced breast cancer.

Holland,
Iam sorry to hear about your mum. Please do a google search on "apricot Kernels", these kernels are non toxic to humans but kill cancer cells and will only target those cells not the healthy cells. I'm not a doctor, but I have read a load of successful testimonies on people curing themselves from cancer any form of cancer.
Please stay away from chemo if you can.
If you can, get your hands on the following books, the second one is from BeInformed Productions Pty Ltd.
"Health Wars" by Phillip Day
"Everything You Need To Know To Help You Beat Cancer" by Chris Woollams
This last book explains how Chris's eldest daughter, Catherine, was diagnosed with an aggressive, malignant brain tumour. She has since been given three "all clears".
Chris actually researched his own information, the type of tumour his daughter had was regarded as uncurable by the medicos, but Chris insisted something can be done, if he could only find one person who ever survived this type of cancer he knew he would have hope for his daughter, the book goes into great details about the whole story. She's alive today and has shocked the medical professional!

it must be so difficult for you now. Take care.
I have not had a cancer, so I can't speak from my personal experience, but from I've read, raw foods is definitely a great help in cancer. There are many testimonials available, I have a list of references below, which you might find useful. I do not believe that fruit may have a bad effect in cancer, on the contrary, I believe that high-fruit diet is what is recommended. I think that nuts might be something that should be avoided. However, do not rely on my opinion, check out the links below and read the real stories. You might want to contact some of these people, which could be useful.
Love,
Gosia.

Gosia,
I started raw foods while I was undergoing radiation for breast cancer. Had already undergone a lumpectomy. When one goes through radiation, the general norm is that you get very tired, experience chronic fatigue by the end, and don't begin to regain energy until two weeks after radiation has stopped. Your skin burns, and you feel like crap.
My experience with raw food: after just over a week into radiation, I began to feel tired and lethargic. It was at that point I began my raw food journey. I went 100% from the first day out. Within 10 days, I began to feel better and by the end of my 6 week radiation schedule, I felt fine. I continued working throughout (I do physical labor - rehab houses) and didn't experience chronic fatigue. I used aloe (from the plant) daily on my skin and didn't experience burns.
If I had it to do over again, I would NOT have had the surgery or radiation. I have complete faith that there are other options that work.
I now recommend to all women: if nothing else, get rid of ALL dairy products, and incorporate as much raw into your diet as possible. That word cancer is an unbelievably scarey thing to hear -- unless you've been there, you simply can't relate.
The standard medical community certainly won't give you all your options - they are only into the cut/radiate/medicate mode. Take the time to check out everything before you decide what you are going to do.
Cheers
Terry

I have a friend in Michigan who had breast cancer. Her sisters used juicing, raw fruits and vegetables,
fasting, some poultices and herbs. They covered all the bases - perhaps more than necessary, but they just
did all they knew. As of Jan 2005 she was 11 months with no tumor. The tumor was baseball sized when they
discovered it Aug 2003 and it was determined clear in Feb 2004.

a former girlfriend of mine had breast cancer, i forget what stage it was, but towards the middle stages. she was 40, thin, healthy, when cancer found, from a biopsy. about 1.5" lump, small breast, many "fingers" branching off the lump. medical people tried to coerce her into masectomy and chemotherapy. she wanted to do the anne-wigmore-institute juice fast, but it was super-expensive. settled on an 8 week fast at royl retreat. kept mostly to high-fat raw diet when she returned. she didn't care for 8-1-1 diet. tried other alternative treatments, frantic for quick results because the lump was still there. lump reduced during the fast, then stayed the same size after resuming raw food. the rest i don't know so much about, because we stopped dating. but she had a cat-scan at about 6 months and again at 10 months or so. both cat-scans showed zero signs of cancer. she told me this herself. my guess is that she is still cancer-free. we don't communicate anymore, and we now live halfway across the usa, but i think her friends would tell me if something bad happened to her. her treatment was way cheaper than the medical route, she doesn't have to live with side effects of mastectomy, chemo, and hormones. her insurance paid for nothing. she maxxed out credit cards to pay for her treatment, and has probably gone bankrupt by now. but its better than having cancer, or living with side effects, or having side effects and then a relapse of cancer. some think its best to remove lump first, others say leave it. i definitely say don't go with chemo, radiation, or hormones. the body will heal itself once you give it what it needs. many cancer patients at royl retreat in texas.

Hi Holland,
I am so sorry to hear about your mom's sickness. She has made an excellent decision to forgo the chemo.
As I am sure you have heard by now, Raw can help Heal Cancer.....It needs to be combined with fresh air, sunshine, exercise (walking if possible), proper rest, plenty of water, abstainence from cooked and every harmful food or drink, and Trust in Divine Power.
A good 14-40 day juice fast is a great start. Then all raw foods, no dehydrateds. Plain fruit and veggies, as much as she can eat.
Peace and Blessings to you and your mother.

Dear Holland, I'm so sorry that you are your Mom are facing such a frightening situation. I'm very new to raw,but I do believe that it has the best potential for fighting disease. The others have posted tons of good info, and I have to say when I was faced with possible breast cancer a couple of years ago, my plan was to treat with diet, prayes and meditation. My prayers are with you and your Mom as you make your decision. Please keep us posted on how it is going. Remember doctors don't know everything, healing is possible. Blessings Earthmama

Before going to chemo, I would and will (God forbid if it would happen to me), do DR. RUDOLF BREUSS treatment (look on Google). That is a 40 day fasting regiment. There are other treatments by Anne Fram and Dr Cornelis Moerman, who developed cancer treatment diet, that was officially recognized by the Dutch goverment. I have an interesting essay on this subject that I found for my father-in-law. It is in PDF format and will be happy to send you. Just drop me PM with your e-mail address.

I just watched one of Dr. Lorraine Day's video tapes and CD on Cancer (my mom had cancer and just died Aug. 15th - she chose not to follow Dr. Day). Dr. Day is a well know surgeon and she over came breast cancer with a raw diet plus exercise, fresh air, sun, positive thoughts, etc. She says ALL cancers are treated the same way. You get them all the same way - it's what you put into your mouth (mostly). You eat raw foods, get fresh air, sun, etc. and your body will heal itself from any disease. She says the treatments you get for cancer - chemo, radiation, surgery, causes more cancer. You may make 2 steps forward as if you can beat the bad cells before you beat the good cells in your body, you will "look" like you won the cancer but your immune system will be so weak that you will get the cancer back eventually.
So YES!!!! The raw diet will definately be your best bet. But you have to do the other things too: exercise, fresh air, rest, sun, positive thoughts, pure water, etc.

Helen,
You are right. All cancers have the same "root." It is a failure of the immune system. Our bodies produce thousands of cancer cells every day. The strong immune system kills these cells. Actually the main idea of Naturopahy is that body will heal itself if proper conditions are provided. Raw food is one of the proper conditions. Cancer cells are feeding of the protein, especially of the animal protein. The idea of the Breuss's fast is to deprive cancer cells of protein. Of coarse the healthy cells will suffer as well. That why rebuilding shall be on the very healthy diet. The quetion is how severe is cancer? Does patient has time for the gradual natural treatment. And unfortunately some cancers like pancreous or ovarian are killers no matter what you do. (sad face).
INteresting that in modern medicine they have 200 different speciality of "doctors" In the traditional Chinese medicine - only one. The idea of the Chinese medicine is to treat a person as a whole (to make him healthy enouph to battle the illness) rather than particular illness.

I am a thrice cancer survivor, and know the entire gambit of emotions, treatments and all that come with this. Although, I did not have kidney issues, I am very familiar with what occurs and the suggestions and the protocals from the medical community.
I believe in raw, I believe that you do whatever is necessary to heal, and I suggest you utilize the suggestions of those who know and have seen results.
I will keep you as the care giver, and your mother in pray as well as the rest of your family. If you have any questions, please p.m. me.
Thanks

I just don't want someone with some cancers like pancreous or ovarian to not get discouraged. Dr. Day says as long as any cancer isn't too far past reversing, it can be reversed. In her CD that came along with my video "I'm not Afraid of Cancer Anymore" she covers these two cancers as well as about 15 or 16 others one. Again, people who followed her 10 steps overcame their cancer (their bodies healed itself through their immune system).
Dr. Day is an internationally acclaimed orthopedic trauma surgeon. For 15 years she was on the faculty of the University of Calironia, San Franciso, School of Medicine as Associate Professor and Vice Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. She was also Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at San Franciso General Hospital and is recognized worldwide as an AIDS expert.
She shares on these tapes how your body can heal itself. She explains why chemo, radiation & surgery doesn't work and can make it worse. It's worth the $30 to hear her and it makes sense. My sister's husband died of cancer. He did traditional along with some alternatives (in conjunction with the chemo). He lost and my sister has $30,000 in medical bills that their insurance didn't cover. Dr. Days way only costs you the amount of her tapes and food, but you have to have food anyway, so why not spend just a little bit more and get organic fresh foods.
Autumn,
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. My mom chose not to do chemo or radiation. They told her she had 3 months to live. She lived 11 months and only took a little morphine the last week or so. She passed on peacefully while they gave her her afternoon bath.

Teri...RawAdventures....I just saw your question to me about my husband's cancer and the raw diet. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing how he is doing on the diet. His cancer involves his lymph system and bone marrow. A CT scan is extremely high radiation, so we don't want to chance it. He is feeling great, still has no discernable symptoms, and will see the doc again next month. It's a relatively slow growing cancer, with no known cure, and waxes and wanes on its own....but as long as he is feeling well, there is no reason to discontinue the healing process he is maintaining.

Hi, I'm new here, but I thought that I should add another site to your search: www.watercure2.com
This site talks of how dehydrated we all are and that by using Celtic Sea Salt and a specific number of ounces of water daily, we can rehydrate -- there are many testimonials from all sorts of 'illnesses' that improved dramatically, or cleared up totally by this procedure -- cancer included.
Best of luck.

I wanted to wish you luck with your mother. Everyone here has offered some grand information and I hope that one of these methods works for you. I lost a husband to cancer. If I'd known about raw, we might have had a chance to help him more. Althought I doubt he would have given up his chocolate cake. ;)
Best wishes to you. Please keep us posted. I'm VERY interested to hear about all the doctors' amazement about what raw foods can do for a body!
