Hi ladies!
As a raw fooder, I have always been torn about Birth Control. I went off the pill for many, many reasons, only to get pregnant shortly after stopping. I went with an IUD now because it seemed the least troublesome of all the options, but it is making me break out & seems to be making it impossible to loose weight...
Soooo...my question to you is...what do you, my fellow female raw fooders, use for the big BC question?
Please let me know b/c I am considering having the IUD removed, but I'm not ready to have another baby (not yet). ;)
Thanks!!!!!

You can study books on your own or take a class. It's very simple after a couple cycles learning! Plus it truly builds your marriage because it takes both spouses' commitment and nobody is being "used". I think the Babycomp mentioned above is a tool that helps you with this but I really enjoyed charting with my husband and knowing my body better. Some people use the Clearblue monitor as well but it gets expensive and is really not necessary if you are willing to learn to take your temperature in the morning and/or make a note about what's on your toilet once a day.

If you are pro-life on a spiritual level, you wouldn't want to use an IUD because you are still conceiving, and discarding an embryo rather than an egg. The Pill often still allows conception as well. It's good for women to know this so they can make an informed choice but unfortunately doctors don't explain to us how it works. Natural Family Planning RAWKS and has even been used effectively (99+%) by the poorest of the poor in India.

Belated congrats on your "baby"! Wish it was that easy for all the good women who want them...

I use a hormone-free copper IUD. It's so nice to not have to "worry" about taking something daily, or tracking my cycle.
I've had it for almost 2 years now...

Thats what I was thinking about how the I.U.D. prevents implant of already fertilized egg which is already a life.

It is a difficult subject, raw and the pill don't seem to go together, but I am still on mine, it is the only form of "medication" that I am accepting. I am thinking of using herbalism to control my hormones though, I have done some good research on the subject, and I might take the plunge soon...

Cat's claw may inhibit fertility. Do a Google search and found some very useful information about it.

Well, I'm done having babies so 2 year ago I had the Essure procedure. Its a permanent form of birth control but it blocks your tubes with no surgery and no hormones. It was sooooo easy.
