Hello everyone,
I need help I really really really need your help! I've been raw for like almost 2 weeks now yayyy :) and iam loosing weight yayyyy :) but you see, iam worried because if I loose weight too fast then the skin will sag well so I've been told by my sister, she actually was surprised that i'd lost soo much weight soo soon but then she told me that ive now got wrinkles around my eyes, which I actually noticed myself, its more prominent in the morning when I wake up, but even though there not that bad now (she reckons they are) I am wondering if my skin will start to sag and should I try and slow down the weight loss.
Eagerly awaiting your reply.
p.s. I'm still in awe of this forum, keep up the excellent work!
Jo-Ann
p.s. anyone from SYdney, Australia on here, just curious :)

When I first went raw I had the same thing happen. As I ate raw longer I noticed that they were going away. I have been eating a lot of raw lately but have been eating some cooked so hope that I don't get wrinkles back to bad. I will be 58 in a few weeks and you can see by my picture (taken a few weeks ago) that the wrinkles are not that bad. Keep eating as much raw as possible, you are doing a great job.

You make me feel so good! I have found that now when I have told myself that I can have a little cooked I am eating more raw. How silly is that?

I have a small point to make Jo-Ann, and I might simply be putting my foot in my mouth but maybe your sister is an eeensy-bit jealous that you're not only looking so much better, but feeling so much better! It's easier to justify a lifestyle that isn't the best for you if you have others to join you!!!
eh-hem... uhmmm... just a small thought. :o
Just think... if you looked HALF as glowing as Flutterfly... it would be reason enough for her to be envious!!! ;)
I'm kidding. erm... sort of.
Here's an interesting case in point... we only have one couple within our circle of friends who smoke. We are always subtley supporting them (never, ever nagging ~ ever) but encouraging and supporting them every step of the way. They've been trying to quit for as long as I've known them and even quit for three months!! When they're trying to quit they always spend more time with us... I think it helps them to be around health-focused friends. One evening when we were having a bonfire, their friends (I stress the word THEIR) encouraged them TO smoke... teasing them and waving it in their faces and telling them there was no way they could do it. Hubby and I were FURIOUS!!! Of course, we didn't make a scene about it but our thoughts were, "how are they being friends here?!" Personally I think they were envious that they weren't doing the same for themselves, and it was only all the more glaringly obvious what an awful habit it is! I think they were sabatoging our friends' efforts so they didn't feel as bad about themselves... goes something like... misery loves company.
Ick. anyway... keep up the amazing work... as Flutterfly has so graciously shown us by example, the rewards will far outshine the effort. :)
Cheers,
Wrecked Spark

Yeah Flutterfly, you don't look 58 at all!! Wow!!! How long have you been raw and what are your beauty secrets?
Joanne, when I first went raw last year I lost weight and my face looked drawn, but now I'm even thinner and my face filled out a bit. So it all works out eventually. Just keep doing what you're doing. I had negative comments from my family too when I first started, but we have these boards to support each other. (I'm new to this one -- hello everyone! How do we get our photos on our "replys"? I already figured out how to post photos in the photo section, so I'm not that computer illiterate -- ha, ha!)

Hi Jo-Ann,
Your skin will tighten back up. It may be a while, but I'm sure it will. As long as you're feeling great, I would continue with what you're doing now. I thought I would share this link with you about "sagging skin":

I would rather have some wrinkled skin for a while and know that my body was getting cleaned out and not have to worry about some dreaded disease down the road :)
Flutterfly - you look FABULOUS!!!!

Thank you everyone. I do aplogise for not getting on here earlier, but my other half has been busy using the computer ......drats !
Thank you for all your feedback and I do think your right Wrecked Spark, whilst I hate to admit it, my sister does get envious so others keep telling me, its just that she's right this time because I do see those wrinkles around my eys.
But you know what, like Helen of Tennessee said in her post, I would rather have some wrinkles for now than some dreaded disease.....I totally agree with you on that one Helen.

Thought I would share some more info in sagging skin . . .
Here is what Jinee's Raw Inspiration was yesterday:
Elasticity is one of the best things about this diet! As the molecules in living foods spin more rapidly than those in dead foods, your body will soon (within 7 years totally, but as far as your skin goes, perhaps a lot sooner) be completely made out of living foods, and your every molecule will be spinning more rapidly than it does now. Among many other wonderful effects this has it also makes your skin more elastic. That is why raw foodists tend to get rid of wrinkles and avoid sagging, and it also explains why delivering babies is easier for raw foodists and why they return more quickly to their pre pregnancy shape. Its natural!
If you haven't seen what she looked like 10 days after giving birth to her 4th child, check it out:
