Hi everyone!
I received my lovely 9 tray dehydrator yesterday, oh happy day!
I was hoping to clear something up, my husband thinks it will cost a lot of money to run if I am using it for most of the week.
I would assume that they wouldnt sell very well if they did chew up a lot of electricty and cost a lot?
does anyone know if they are cheap/expensive to run?
thanks so much!
I love proving my husband wrong!!

Probably no more then an air filter. We don't use the heater of these machine much because the temperature is set low, so the fan is the one mainly running. If you use the heat to the max, then you are consuming 600Watt. We set these machines typically to the 1/4 of their max. If you have a current meter, you could check how much current it drawn but keep in mind that your stove does consume more electricity.
I didn't really notice my electricity bill going up. Microwave, stove, heater, dryer and air dryer consume a lot of Watt. If your family don't use microwave and stove or less consumption then you are saving in these area.
So if you use the excalibur about 12 hours per day for 30 days and you pay 4cents per kwatt, you will pay from $3 to $8 dollars of electricity per months. $8 is if you set the machine to maximum heat.
You can google and find an electricity calculator.

Hi, this is what i found on excalibur's website:
How much electricity does the Excalibur consume?
The average cost of electricity used by the Excalibur is about 4 - 5¢ an hour. Dry a full load of fruits or vegetables for less than a quarter!
