CONGRATULATIONS!!!! What a HUGE day this is for you!!!
Take it slowly...read every word...really digest it... I know it's tempting to look at the recipes (sorta like looking at the ending of the book to find out what happens!!!), but try to read her story and what lead up to the creation of the recipes first. That way, when you get to the recipe part, you'll be mentally ready to go forward (not that you aren't already mind you...;))....
I love the way that Alissa speaks in the book! It's like she's sitting down with you, sippin' on her Coconut Water, and talking with you!!! I'm sure you'll get the same feeling when you read it...(you're probably 1/2 way through it now!!!!)
That's really GREAT!!! I'm so happy for you!!!

Best raw resource, ever. :D I recommend it to all my friends and several have ordered their copies and made it a permanent part of their raw transition!
Alissa is, after all, the reason we're all here talking to each other about RAW - it's her boards, her book, her inspiration... and I deeply appreciate her for it. :)

I am loving it..wanted to read all night but sleepy time beckoned.
I have a question...not ot hijack my own thread...hahahaha
The reccomended temp for dehy is 112 in her book. I had always heard 115 to 118 and thats what I had been doing for almost two years.....eeeeeeek a zeeeeek.
What do ya think?
Oh and soon i will be extolling all my new points tutu.

Certain things like herbs are actually best at a lower temp, like below 108...If it's a recipe that has a lot of moisture in it, then many will even put the D up to 135 for almost an hour. The internal temp still doesn't get that high, and with the moisture evaporating, is kept cool anyway.
So, my point is, the temp is variable.
If I'm not doing some fragile herb or something, I'll often do 135 for a bit, then most times I lower it to 105 for the duration. I think 112, is a good "compromise."
I wasn't a newbie to raw foods, so didn't really "need" the grocery list, or even the testimonials, as I was a believer anyway. Nevertheless, I still found it a good read!
And now that I have her 550 page book for $29.95, I get a little miffed as some of the raw foodie guru-types who will sell 25 recipes for $20. She's set the bar pretty high. LOL
