Hi All!
I am new to raw and found this site a couple of weeks ago by following a link I found on Raw Kids. I love all the information here and everyone seems so friendly.
My name is Kim, I'm 41 and mom to my 18 yo son, and 8 year old daughter. (my 18 year old moved out a few weeks ago!)
The concept of eating Raw is not new to me, my husband followed a very high raw diet (some fish and cheese) for the 10 years before he met me--we've been together for 21 years. Due to several reasons, he stopped eating raw.
At the beginning of the summer, my daughter said that she didn't want to eat animals anymore, and my husband expressed interest in returning to his former lifestyle.
At first, I though maybe we would just go vegetarian, because I didn't think I could give up dairy and eggs. I researched veganism, and didn't think it was for me. I don't eat alot of grains, and I rarely eat beans, and alot of the vegan cookbooks that I came across used alot of soy products and gluten, which didn't appeal to me. I came across some info on Raw Vegans, and felt it really resonated with me, plus it pretty much described my husband's former lifestyle.
I have been eating about 80-90% raw the last 2.5 weeks. It hasn't been hard at all giving up the 3 daily servings of dairy that I used to eat. My daughter be switching over slowly, and I am just waiting for my husband to jump on board.
I look forward to being a part of this community!
