Hello,

My name is Dara and I've been reading some of the threads on this site for a while. I decided to join because there are many discussions here that I thought I might be interested in participating in. I have done a juice fast, but I did it all wrong and I am planning to do another one, but I want to do it the right way. I don't want to get into talking about all the things I did wrong. That's all in the past. But I will certainly learn from my mistakes and learn from you all and do it right this time.

I plan on starting on the 20th of this month and fasting for approximately 8 days, but devoting 21 days to the entire process. At any rate, I'll get into all of this later.

I hope to learn a lot while I'm here and hopefully change my eating lifestyle while I'm at it. I've been reading up on being a raw foodist for quite a few years now and keep coming back to a couple of online sites, this being one of them. I honestly believe that I'll stop having so many health issues if I do and I'll just feel better all the way around.

I'm pleased to be here.

Cheers!!!

Welcome! After ypur fast you should do a 30-day 100% Raw challenge. I guarantee you will feel amazing! Do you have Alissa's book and DVDs?

I'd like to try that, but I'm not sure I could do it. I guess we'll see how I feel after the fast. I don't have her book, but I'm definitely going to get it. I'll have to wait until my next paycheck, but it's the next book I'll be buying.

Thanks for the welcome you two. :)

Oh we all felt that way; not sure if we could do it (30 day challenge), but it really comes quite natural! A lot of us are continuing our 30-day challenge years later!

Welcome Dara. Fasting is much harder than being 100% raw, so if you can do that you can definitely be raw. You will need to be anyhow upon breaking the fast, so likely you won't find it very difficult.

Thanks Dimond, that gives me a little bit more hope. Nice meeting you. :)

Welcome Dara! As you can see, you have found a great place for support. I'm not much of a faster, only do one day fasts now and then when my body just isn't into food. I have tried fasting in the far distant past and long term fasting just doesn't seem to fit me. I agree, it's much more difficult to fast than to be raw.

More power to you!

Thank you and nice to meet you somelikeitraw!! Well, I just felt so good when I did my first 8 day fast recently, I thought I'd try it again and that I would do it properly this time. I just had all sorts of energy, I wasn't hungry. My body was a bit achey, but I wasn't tired at work, I was in a much better mood, when I woke in the morning I felt awake, it was very overwhelming in a good way (I even went off some of my psych meds) and if fasting and then going raw can make me feel like that all the time, I don't know why I wouldn't want to do that all the time for myself. So I think I've found my new online home. Or at least I hope so. Cheers!!!

Welcome Dara, and I pray that you will have the strength to stick with your fast as long as you need to - it is a great way to build self control and get the toxins (both mental and physical) out of your system! I agree with the other posters, you'll find it much easier to eat all raw once you've fasted, even if it's just for a short time. If 30 days seems too long, just take it one day at a time, and each day will find you feeling better and better about it. I'm in my 9th month of eating raw now and my outlook is so different from when I started. I am so glad I stuck with it, and have no plans to ever go back to my SAD diet!

Thanks for the welcome freshlight! I did enjoy the first fast that I did, which is why I thought I wanted to do it again. But I think it was just a barrier I was putting up between me and going RAW. So, I've broke that barrier and am just diving right in.

At any rate, I'll fast again some time, but only when my body is ready for it.

I'm so excited, I just ordered Alissa's book. I'm so anxious for it to come to my house now. :D I hope I can come back here in 25 or 30 days like Frannie did and post that I've been 100% raw for that long. Go Frannie!!!!
