I read in David Wolfe's "Eating for Beauty" that eating turmeric adds color to pale skin. Anyone here who eats turmeric regularly notice any changes in their skin color?
I'm just a little confused because in some articles on the internet claim that turmeric actually lightens ones skin
Well that's interesting. Let me know what you find out.
I do know that drinking large amounts of alcohol will eventually give you an interesting greenish yellow tint to the skin:rolleyes:

I personally feel that one would have to consume a good deal of turmeric. Keep eating Raw and you will get that healthy "glow"!

So Tumeric gives the People in that part of the World who eats it on a daily basic, their color?

I use turmeric frequently, (but not regularly). Haven't noticed any unusual changes in my skin color.
In "Eating for Beauty", Wolfe states turmeric makes the skin soft, supple, and smooth because beautiful skin results from pure blood, and turmeric is a first-class blood purifier. He says it brings color into pale skin, but I'm guessing that may be because it increases blood circulation, not that he meant it colors the skin.
He says turmeric can be used in place of ginger. Add to salad dressing, smoothies, and recipes. A 1" piece of fresh turmeric root will spice up a quart of fresh juice. A teaspoon or two can be added to a smoothie and drunk once or twice a day.
I love to use it in recipes because it tastes great. Especially in "Eggless-Egg Salad" and "Silken (not) Tofu Scramble".

btw: I love that book! The Skin-Saver Salad has been one of my favorites for the past five years. Talk about changing your complexion! I eat it before special events when I want my skin to shine.

I guess it goes without saying it's the fresh turmeric not the powder..?

Maybe he meant that instead but I was wondering because I know that certain foods can change the color of your skin (ie. carrots).

I have heard of turmeric adding a yellowish tint, similar to what happens when you overdo the carrot juice :)

Nope. I have it three times a day and my skin is still lily white.
