It is coming time to buy my next piece of equipment. I can't decide if a juicer or a vita mix would help me more.
I eat primarily fruits and I make a lot of use out of my cheap blender.

What helps you most in food preparation?

Vitamix, Vitamix, Vitamix, Vitamix!

I think you'll find overwhelming support for the Vitamix.

I've just had a similar descision to make. I already had a good blender (tho not at the standard of the Vita-mix) and already already had a good juicer (altho not at the standard of the Green Star. So out of the Vita-mix and Green Star I've gone for the Green Star Juicer just gone and ordered the Green Star Juicer... but in a couple of weeks time I hope to buy the Vita-mix as well... best of both worlds!!!

OI honestly can't decide which of mine I like better. I do love my Vitamix but I also would not want to be without my juicer. You know you have to buy both eventually!!:p If your cheap blender is OK maybe go with the juicer first then y ou can have both. But if not probably get the Vitamix first cause you can always blend and strain through a nut bag and have juice too. But I wouldn't want to be without my juicer now that I have it:)

I agree with snopes ~ If getting one appliance right now - I'd go for the blender and use it to juice. This is how I currently juice my wheatgrass - in my BlendTec and then strain it through a bag. I've got a Champion, but it don't use it for the WG.

Best wishes - how exciting!! *Ü*

Hi snoops,
What is the advantage of drinking just plain juice over the juicy whole fruit and combined pulp that the Vitamix is capable of producing? Why would I want to strain the goodies of a Vitamixed pulverized orange just to drink the juice? Always wondered...

thanks,
ssandee

VitaMix! Get the VitaMix!

There's tons of things you can do with a VitaMix but only one thing you can do with a juicer (not to slag on juicers, but.. yea).

Yep, Vita-Mix. I use mine several times a day and if I use my juicer it might be once a day. And as it has already been said you can make juice in your vitamix but you can't do all the wonderful things in a juicer that you can do with a vitamix.

Blessings,
Heather

vitamix

a nice easy to clean juicer would be sweet but every single time i walk into a thrift store i find a brand new juicer for 7 dollars, once even a champion for 20.00...people don't use em and want a clean cupboard

you will never find a vitamix just laying around.......

I also find that I juice less just because of the clean-up. Take apart. Clean each part. Some of them small. Put it back together. There's times I'd like juice in the morning but don't have the time for clean-up before leaving for work.

Vitamix clean-up is a breeze and takes seconds.

I do both so I do get fiber but sometimes I just like a plain juice not a smoothie. I drink lots of juices like beet, apple, carrot, ginger juice, - I want the juice not all the fiber. Juice fasting allows your digestive system to rest and heal by not having to deal with fiber. Another one I love it kale, apple grapefruit juice - wouldn't like it with pulpy kale in it. But there is a smoothy I drink with kale in it...so it just allows me more variety in my attempt to get more greens in.

So how is Vita mix service?

I just tried to place an order and they kept me on hold for 6 minutes until my cell phone died. My fault I guess because I called with one bar left. I thought they would answer the phone. If they won't answer the phone when you try and purchase one, I can't imagine they would be in a hurry when you need one repaired.

Ok, finally got through. The machine should be here in 12 days. I got free shipping which is why it is taking so long.
I just got the basic one.

You have no idea how good they are until you use it. Then you wonder why you waited so long.

Congratulations and happy blending/juicing/mixing/eating.

Although I like juice, I don't like the time or clean up required to make it. I LOVE my Vita Mix. It's quick to use and quick/easy to clean. I understand that some people (?) use Vita Mix and then strain to make juice (remove fiber), but I've never tried it.

VitaMix -- no doubt about it. To me, the juicer is a luxury and VitaMix is a necessity!

My blender is about to kick it.

I bought a Vitamix - what else can I do with it?

Dumb question but I have no idea how to make anything with it!

I vote Vitamix as well. I've been toying with the idea of buying a juicer for the past couple of weeks and then I discovered straining. I already have a single-auger manual juicer - it is worlds apart. So much more yield, and richer flavor. Now I'm considering a press as my next purchase to press the juice out of vitamixed blends, since I am drinking so much juice.

I would go with the Green Star Juicer
