Hi all! Can multiple things like flax crackers, fruit leather, cookies, and kale chips be dehydrated at the same time?

Thanks!

yes they can..but I think it's best to mix like tastes together. Like fruit leather with other sweet things. If you mix onion bread with something sweet..it will probably pick up the stronger flavor a little bit.

at least when I was making onion bread and decided to dehydrate some soaked walnuts with them. . . they did.

Now every time I grab a walnut, I get a hint of onion. Not overbearing, but there. It did not affect the brownie I made with those walnuts though.

Thats the ONLY drawback of a nine tray dehy. It can holdmany layers of stuff but they need to have similar flavors....cuz your lil lovebugs will mingle and come out tasting like their neighbor they hung out with.

Some I know have two dehy for ths reason.

Also be careful of anything in the room, any strong smells at all will go into t he back and flavor your food.

It looks like I'm the odd one out. I've had a full dehydrator including onion bread and sweets and I haven't had any mixing of their flavors. *Ü*

I did peaches and tomatoes together - and was worried! I know those are 2 sweet things but really give off way different aromas!! They aren't as opposite as onion bread and dessert, - but both were fine :)

I have always had tastes and flavors mingle...so I do sweet together and fruit things and then veggie oniony type things seperate

After reading your replies I figured I would just have to try it out and see. So, I made onion bread, zucchini pizza crust, and rawlmond (sp?) joys and they did not mix. I was pleased at the end because I sure was nervous about it. Thanks!
