Hello everyone! I am Sara, 27, and from Austin, TX. Two years ago, I became a strict raw foodist and was in the best shape of my life. I have always been in good, athletic shape as a boxer and martial artist standing at 5'5" with weight fluctuating from 125 lbs to 135 lbs. After 4-5 of being approximately 90% raw, I met tragedy. When tragedy struck, I resorted to SAD foods to cope with the hurt and am now around 145 lbs and feel so gross inside. I look great and have a lot of muscle definition, however, I am not as quick and sharp as I was while raw.

I love raw foodism as a lifestyle, not a diet or fad. For me, raw foodism has a beautiful, natural and spiritual element to it which is why I plan to continue...for myself. My goals with my newly rediscovered lifestyle is to be as naturally healthy as possible while shedding the SAD extra pounds of waste resulting from SAD foods. I believe that the 10-15 pounds I've gained result from water retention and waste accrued from 1.5 years of eating processed foods. I need all of the help and support from this community.

Thank you again!

Sara

Thank you, Veganforlife. I must say, Alissa is a big reason why I re-discovered raw. I was on the fence about the lifestyle revive, but read that she, too, rediscovered the raw life and is a phenomenal inspiration.

I know! I remember I looked vibrant two years ago when I was 90-100% raw and I know this is a bit elitist, but I was so anti-processed foods two years....I am mad that I allowed myself to resort back to SAD foods. I would cringe at processed foods like a vampire to garlic.

Best of luck with your raw journey.

I am new to raw food and am on day 29 of being 100% raw.

It sounds like your reasons for going raw are clear and important to you. I'm sure you'll do great. Wonderful to have a forum like this for support. Best of luck and keep us posted!
