I feel a real pull to start a Juice fast now but i've just developed Tonsilitis, due to a huge amount of stress i'm under atm, I alsways get it under enormous stress. I've recentlent left an abusive partner and am going through the courts to make offical the girls custody with me and to stop him coming around everyday, but anyway...... i'm going to go on antibiotics for the tonsilits can i still do a fast?
I really feel it's important now as i'm getting rid of a lot of emotional baggage and moving forward and becoming stronger somehow i feel this diet is a part of that.
Hi VeganMama,
I'm sorry but I don't know the answer to your question, but I do know that I'll be thinking about you, it must be very hard for you right now. So whenever you are feeling down, think about this board and the people who are on it, we are all your friends!
I wish you a lot of support,
The girl from Belgium, a.k.a. Joke

Thanks Joke, the support is much appreciated
Even though i don't get to post as often as i would like i still spend alot of time reading, and i really do feel close to all you guys.
I've decided to go ahead with the juice Fast, seeing as i won't be able to eat for the next few days anyway i might as well get some good stuff into me. I will keep the fast up as long as i don't notice any effect on my milk supply or change in health in my daughter who is breast feeding and all going well i will go for 5 - 7 days
I will let you all know how i go

Veganmama,
I'm with Joke...you'll definitely be in my thoughts!
As for the juice fast and the antibiotics, the first thing that came to MY mind was that you'd probably get the tonsilitis symptoms out and over with better (maybe even quicker) with the juice fast ONLY and no antibiotics.
See, I guess I've kinda really taken the arguement against the whole "germ theory" to heart where it says basically that, bacteria don't cause disease, bacteria is present where there is dead tissue and dead cells because it eats that to actually help us. But when doctors take a look and see a multitude of bacteria, they call it a "bacterial infection". I've seen the analogy to flies...when we see dog poop on the ground, we'll more than likely see lots of flies on it and around it. The flies didn't actually create the poop or cause the poop to be there, but because there is poop...there are flies. Same with when we have dead cells/tissue in our body...bacteria flock there to eat it, but they didn't actually cause whatever the situation is.
So, in other words, I'm thinking that doing this juice fast (even better a water fast, but not if you're nursing of course!) would do you so much more good than the antibiotics ever could - especially when the antibiotics will actually end up doing worse things to your body - possibly bringing on the onset of a yeast infection for example; killing bacteria/flora within your intestinal wall for another example.
Sorry for rambling, just my humble opinion!
Either way, I hope you feel better very soon!

Hi Rawkinlocs & others,
You're not rambling :D I learn a lot and agree with what you say.
I was just reading this article about what antibiotics do to you:
http://www.mercola.com/2003/jun/18/antibiotics_bacteria.htm
Previously, I had read some alternatives to antibiotics, but I don't recall where. But like the last sentence of the article above, it says drink water (not a fast, but drink lots of water). Like Rawkinlocs said, a water fast would be best, but when you're nursing, drinking lots of water will help.

This makes a lot of sense to me, I had heard this before but thanks for helping me understand it better. :)

Veganmama,
I just wanted to applaud and support you in having the strength and courage to leave an abusive situation. May it bring you stability, serenity and light!

I agree wiht everyone about the ANtibiotics, and i usually don't take them but i can't afford to be sick right now with two babies to look after by myself and no family around to help. I get really bad migranes with the tonsitis. So i'll just take the course and some probiotics.
Olive thanks for your lovely words, it was the hardest thing i have done in a very eventful life but with two little girls i really don't want them to grow up and think it's OK for a man to treat them that way. UNfortunaly it's not really over yet but at least i have cut most ties i now have my own home, my own car and only have to see him when he visits the girls, which is everyday atm but i'm going to court very soon to get his visits on only a few days and offical. **blush** sorry started babbling
