Druid, it is not meant to confuse.
If it is raw - you can eat it.
If it is not raw - don't eat.
Hope this helps.

hi Druid. I am not sure what you are asking for help with?
Yes, you can eat anything raw that you want whenever you want to. As we begin to adapt to raw foods, it is important to make sure we are satisfied and have a lot of options. Eventually, down the road, as your body cleans out and adjusts to cleaner fuel, it will begin to signal you when it requires changes etc..you will be able to follow your intuition.
But, as you begin, eat anything raw that you desire, whenever you desire and from there listen to your body. Don't deprive yourself.
Does this help?
Blessed Be~

it does help, indeed.
It just seems "wrong" to be able to have strawberries and kiwi on top of bananas thats been blended for breakfast. Get my point?
I am vegan, so Im like wheres the oats. Im so use to starting everyday with oatmeal. I can do this. it just seems like Im doing something "wrong"
I guess I am still trying to prove to myself all the fruits for breakfast are better than oatmeal. including other meals too.
I see that there is substitutes, if you will, of spaghetti on the dvd. Looks great. Its hard for me to swallow that I can eat fruits and veggies until Im full and its going to be ok. Im putting a lot of trust in alissa to follow this. it sounds great

lol.....well I have been trusting Alissa and my intuition for 7 months now and it has changed my life. So I think you are safe there.
Did you know that Alissa sells raw oatmeal and muesli on her site? www.alissacohen.com
Also, some people buy raw oat groats and use a grain flaker to make raw oatmeal. You can also make gRawnola by soaking grains, such as buckwheat, oat groats etc, mixing with a little honey, cinnamon, raisins, almonds, a squeeze of oj and dehydrating? Yummy with freshly made almond milk.
So if you really wanted your oatmeal, you can have it raw!
"it just seems like Im doing something "wrong" " Well, that is just an illusion. Toss your fear out the window!
The great part about this, is that you only have to go on faith for a week or two, for some people even less. In a very short amount of time-you will feel such an amazing vitality you will know the truth of it inside. I noticed amazing differences in 8 days and major changes in 30.
I look forward to hearing of your experiences druid. :)
Blessings~

Did someone say OATMEAL?!?
Honey, you CAN have your oats and eat them too! ;) I make oatmeal all the time and it's the BEST!
Yep, Sweetgoddess is right, you can order raw oats from Alissa's site or you can buy some oat groats from your local whole/health foods stores and either soak overnight and blend the next morning with your choice of raw and natural sweetener (honey, agave, dates, raisins, etc.), cinnamon, dash of celtic salt, vanilla (optional), and blend til creamy and porridge-like and then if you want, pulse-chop some fruit like apples or bananas, etc. into it. It's yummy.
OR...you can get the grain flaker (I have one now and it's great!) and roll your own oats because rolled oats you buy are not raw. That way, you roll them, add your lukewarm or warmed-to-the-touch water to it and the above ingredients right into the bowl (don't have to blend) and I like to add a little coconut oil (I use the one Alissa sells - Virgin De Coco) and that with the sea salt gives it a "buttery" flavor - but that's optional as it's still good without it.
Just wanted to let you know you can still have your oatmeal.
As for the concept behind Alissa's book/dvd, it's true. And as SweetGoddess said, the thing is to GO raw and once you are accustomed to eating this way, body gets cleaned out, stomach readjusts to the lighter feel of eating raw foods, your body will begin to let you know it's time to make changes such as less nuts, more greens, no grains, etc.

I have not tried kale juice, but a lot of people like it. I have only heard of it being done with a sweet base though like apples. You have to have the sweet to cover up the bitter taste. I really like carrot juice, and put some greens in with it and a little honey. Goes down smoooooth...
I love kale juice when it is mixed with carrot, celery, and lemon juice.
There are a few foods I wouldn't eat raw:
Rhubarb, corn, and peanuts
Raw sweet corn is delicious and I eat it on rare occasions, but the mycotoxins scare me!

Druid,
I know exactly how you feel when you voice your concern about fruit w/ fruit puree for breakfast. I'm a Southern girl who grew up on grits, oatmeal and cream of wheat (HOT and heavily laden with butter, sugar, salt, pepper or some other such condiment).[When I told my mom that I was now RAW Vegan she said, "I didn't grow up that way", to which I replied, "Neither did I".]
When I was doing my research before going RAW I said to myself, "They must be crazy if they think I'm giving up food that sticks to your bones". As Sweetgoddess stated earlier, it didn't take long for me to realize that I must have been crazy for eating the way I had for the last 30+ years.
Trust me, you will become so ALIVE that you body will thank you for it, and from that point on it will become almost intuitive. I was amazed that it only took 3 days for the bread cravings to pass. After 2 weeks-even a hint of meat and my body screamed,"No"! Yes it still smelled appealing in a familiar way, but I had absolutely no desire to consume it. This is only the beginning of week 8 for me (80-85% and climbing). I'm 23 lbs lighter, have boundless energy, require fewer hours of sleep, have a level of mental clarity that I cannot explain with the English language and I'm am still in the learning stages. How exciting is that? Take your time, go easy on yourself and trust your body to give you clues.
P.S. My copy of Alissa's DVD/ book are backordered until Sept, so I'm jealous. :p
Mike,
After I saw the pictures of that corn...Brother, I'm skerred too! :D My goodness, some of it had more hair then my kids when they were newborns!

Druid~ are you feeling lousy because of cooked food you are still eating? Have you felt like this before?
If that is not the case, then it could be detox, even without being 100% raw you can detox.
I would suggest drinking a lot of water, napping when you can, dry-skin brushing and baths , essential oils, moist heat on your forhead for any detox headaches etc.
But most important of all, is knowledge of detox, so that you know consciously what is going on and why. That will make it easier to see your way through to the other side. If it is detox, bless it and celebrate because that means you are standing in a gateway...once through it, its a whole, new, vibrant, spectacular world!
To learn more about detox, see this post by Alissa.

If this is what you want, then believe with all your being that you can do this. Your body is hard at work now. You can do this.
Keep us posted because we are rooting for you.
Many Blessings~
