I made the sauces last night and will use it on pears for dessert. I can say the cranberry cinnamon sauce is amazing. And the ginger cream sauce is very good too but I used coconut butter instead of coconut oil (because that's what it asked for) but its very thick. I am going to blend it again and add some of the coconut water to loosen it up.
The site is vegan, not raw but there are a lot of raw recipes there if you have some time to peruse the recipe section.

Did ya'll see the Dark Choc PB Tarts? they could be made w/almond or any other nut butter. The pears look too yummy. I think I'll try them next time I visit someone.
question: Is coconut butter hardened/solidified coconut oil?

No coconut butter (I now know as I have read the jar trying to figure out why my sauce was so thick) is coconut flesh dehydrated then blended to a creamy smoothness! It is yellower and thicker than coconut oil, which can be runny when its hot out. This isn't. Sauce tastes fine but I would use the oil next time.
Also, use ripe pears - mine were a little too hard. And I would make the sauces just prior to use. They were good the next day but not as nice and pourable. They thickened up in the fridge overnight. Esp. the ginger cream sauce!!

I just made them last night.:eek: They are sooooo good. And the recipe looks long and involved but it is really quite easy. I will make them again. So much better than the "real" thing.

I'm putting together my shopping list for this and just thinking that a cup of coconut meat is a lot and I'm wondering how many coconuts that would take. I'm excited to try this recipe, I've got a whole box of pears to gobble up.

Zing! Am I allowed to use cuss words to describe how good this is?! It was well worth the effort, the only challenging part was opening up the coconuts because I don't have a heavy knife, but this is a glorious recipe.
