*waves* I"m Heather.. this is my second raw food experiment. The first time was about two years ago and I lasted about two months. I tried it originally to lose weight- I did not lose any.
However, I did feel fantastic and so I'm making my second attempt- to feel fantastic that is- I don't expect to lose weight.
i'm 24, I'm vegan and have a vegan husband and vegan son (they are not raw). I don't have a juicer, or a dehydrator or any of that. I'm from Greensboro, NC (anyone else?)
Today is my first day.

Hi Heather!
You are so lucky to have a vegan family -- my dh is the saddest of the SAD! Welcome to RFT!
A friend of mine found an Excalibur Dehydrator on Craigslist a while back - if you have it in your area, give it a try. And Costco has some good deals on Juicers.
It is great to have you here - are you planning to jump into the 30-day challenge?
Lots of Love,
Cynthia

*waving back* Don't worry if you don't have all the raw food gadgets because you'll still do all right. I think the most important tool in starting out is to get Alissa's book and DVD. Some have even found her book at their public libraries. In her DVD you'll see that she uses a food processor and a blender but they aren't the really high powered ones that most raw foodist eventually like to get. They are brands that can be purchased for $30-$50. It's great to have you here.

I've done about 2 months in the past also, twice in fact! But this time I'm in my 9th month and loving it - I am so glad I eat this way, it is so much better for me and for my family! Even though they're not all raw, they are much healthier and learning from my example as well...
Welcome - and I pray you will have the strength to stick with it and reap the many benefits of treating your body right...
