I'm just 3 days into 80% raw. I was 50% or so for a week before that, ramping it up slowly. I'm finding since going 80% (since the Vitamix arrived) that I am having lots of bloating and gas, and as of this morning I have allergies! (the 20% is cooked potatoes, oatmeal, some meat with my family, various cooked ingredients I don't have time to go buy raw just for 1 thing yet, like lime juice this morning, the 80% is green smoothies (kale), some avocado, mostly sweet fruit).
I have in the past experienced mold allergies after a winter spent in a dank apartment with mold growing on the walls, and this is like that, but without the mold exposure afaik. This is just since this morning, and I have never had any other allergy than mold. No seasonal, etc.
Also, although my calorie consumption and appetite have gone down, I have gained a few pounds and my energy level has plummeted. My temperature yesterday was 96.3. Normally it is 97.4. To be fair, I am starting off with hypothyroid (tests show "normal" but I now have a goiter, low temp, all other symptoms to mild degree usually...), heart palpitations, obesity and gallstones w/chronic pancreatitis, but haven't been quite as symptomatic before as now. Today is a bit better, but yesterday all I wanted to do was sleep all day and eat turmeric for the pain. I was hoping including more raw foods would heal, not hurt.
I'd appreciate any input, especially personal stories of healing and how you did it.
Thanks.

Okay. First off congrads on 3 days. Keep on going.
Second - 3 days is nothing compared to a lifetime of unhealthy eating I'm presuming?
Third - Your body is transforming. The harder IT is trying to get rid of SAD/CRAP, the more you are still putting into it and making it work harder and trying to get rid of SAD/CRAP, oops, here comes more SAD/CRAP and so on and so on.
You should do you AND your body a favor and do a 30 day challenge of 100% Raw. You will feel so much better, so much quicker.
Do you drink water? Do you workout? These are two very important things as is do you have Alissa's book. She thoroughly explains EVERYTHING you need to know about how and what, why, when, and where.
I wish you the best. You CAN heal. Give it time AND 100% effort! It's not overnight.

Nope, no lifetime of unhealthy eating here, at least, I haven't eaten exclusively SAD for many years, at least 10. I started off with low carb, lost a bunch of weight, got pregnant, gained it all back. Went to Weston A. Price traditional type diets, lots of fermented food, did that for several years. Went to semi-SAD when living with my mom last year but that was pretty much just eating whatever dinners she made to keep the peace. For the meals I made, they were always fermented whole-grain (if any), high greens, some raw. Health problems have mostly appeared in the past couple of years - after all this time trying to find healthy ways of eating. And now, on higher raw, they are within 3 days getting so much worse I could barely function yesterday - so that is why I ask for stories of healing from illnesses like mine. I hold a lot of hope for high raw, but my experience so far is not positive. We are visiting family in another state for a week, but after we get back (16th) I will definitely consider doing 100% raw and seeing what happens.
All that said, today has been better. I had avocado and nuts and I have more energy and less bloating. Still cold this morning. Forcing myself to exercise lots to raise temp, seems to be working.
Thanks.

Hang in there, its worth it. Yes you can heal whatever health challenges you have. I would also say the new fruits and vegg maybe not mixing well with the meat. Meat stops everything up. Feel better.

I find 100% raw has made 1,000% difference for the better. In my 26 days, I've experienced some sinus discharge, two medium headaches, a two nights of restlessness, but that's it.
I agree with VFL -- jump into the 30-day challenge!!!!
And maybe reread the part in Alissa's book (if you have it) about the stuff that may happen to us as our body cleanses itself.
All the best,
Cynthia

Why don't you try a 30 days 100% raw challenge?
Please make sure to digest your food well before eating the next dish. Fruits are best eaten on an empty stomach. If you make a raw desert and you want to eat it after a cook meal, make sure to digest the cook meal first. If you eat cook food, perhaps, do this as a last meal during the day. I would drop the meat or at least not more then eating that occasionally. Before you eat any meat. Eat raw vegetable or even better a raw vegetable juice before, it will prepare your guts with enzyme.
It is good that you are doing a gradual switch but if you want to still eat cook food the only thing i would eat, would be steam rice, bake potato, steam vegetable period.
People absorb more nutrient on a 100% raw food then a partially raw food.
You truly don't need the meat, if you strongly crave for it, then so be it, if you don't please stay away from that. Don't eat any process meat at all cost or meat that aren't organic, or from a known farmer or wild. Read the China Study. Watch a diet for all reason, a diet for a new America dvd's. Get educated with this. Brigit Marsh has an excellent book with the nutrients which is so inexpensive for the information in it "RawSome"
Not only the enzyme get destroyed past 125 degree F but also Vitamin A, D, E and K. The sulfur of the amino acid also brake down with the cooking which makes the protein cripple. It is so essential to eat and make room for fresh fruit and vegetable everyday. Not only they are rich in nutrients, they have anti-oxidant which aren't found in meat.
Congratulate yourself for making room with the good stuff.
