This may be a stupid question but thought I would ask anyways...

Has anyone had SOOO much stress and disaster go on in their families lives but still able to stay focused in this way of eating especially if you had been an emotional eater?

I guess just looking for some engouraging words to stay the course and not sway due to obstcales in families lives....be there for them and help them through it but stay focused in my own life.

Thanks all ahead of time for your support

Sandy

Yes, tons of stress & obstacles. The bad part is I ended up overeating raw, which is healthier yet still toxic. It works better if you can stick with easy-to-digest items instead of the heavier, high fat ones. But really you just gotta do the best you can. Surround yourself with tons of raw so you're never tempted to eat anything else. This is the time when pre-made snacks and meals can really help. Tons of on-line options if you don't have much in your area.

You can do it, Sandy. :)

Calm and centered, for me, comes from drinking green juice. The more stress I have, the more I want green juice.

Yes there are days where nothing but a pice of gluten free raisin bread with raw pecan butter will do but I seek to stay the course most times.

Yes I've been through this, it is possible to make it through but challenging. It can be done. I found after failing once due to family issues I learned how to deal with these events when they come up in the future. The key for me is remembering to love myself and by loving myself I am not eating food that will harm me. No family situation should be more important then my health.

I echo Tanisha...if you don't take care of yourself, you're not gonna be there to take care of everyone else...you may be too tired or too sick.... You can only do what you can do. Be there for them, but take care of "ME" first. If I don't take care of "ME", who's gonna?

I have been known to "fast" during extremely stressful times to keep me from eating SAD... But, you still need something in the way of water or juice to keep up your strength.

Another thing you could do is just keep RAW as simple as possible. Just have a Smoothie, or a Salad...or Fruit. You don't need to "explain" why you're not eating what they're eating... The most important thing is that you ARE eating. Just say, "Thanks, but no... THIS is what I want. I've been craving FRUIT/SALAD/SMOOTHIE all day!"

there will always be obstacles, there will always be 'situations'... life is life after all. eating raw needs to be a choice which just IS. when i emotionally eat now... i reach for a bowl of steel cut oats, with banana and hemp seeds. LOL
