Hi all! I'm here and there. I don't know why I picked that username. I guess it just sounded good at the time. I've been a real-foods strict vegetarian for about 8 years, almost 9 but didn't give a lot of thought to raw until I had 2 things happen to me that turned that around, fast. One was developing a very itchy rash that has my doctor completely stumped and the other was a heatwave that's very uncharacteristic for the area in which I live. The heatwave was the thing that got me into raw, though. I mean, when tempratures are 100+ with no airco, the idea of throwing things into a processor and calling it good really appealed to me. Now that the heatwave is over and temperatures are lower, the idea of throwing things into a processor and calling it good still appeals to me. That's when it occurred to me to start exploring this strange new wonderful world that I hadn't given much thought to before. The wild thing is that somehow my rash isn't as bad as it was before. It still bothers me at times, but I'm not living on the anti-itch cream like I was before and for the first time in over a year, I'm actually having decent rests at night. I really can't help but feel that eating raw like I have is having something to do with it, but I have nothing but feeling to back that up.

Anyway, sorry about the ramble, but I'm really glad to be here and can't wait to learn everything I can about raw.

Welcome :) Funny: my start was very similar to yours because it was a HOT HOT summer and I did a long fast first and went raw after that.

Keep enjoying it and get well soon.

Cheers

Seriously, welcome. Do you have Alissa's book and DVDs? Powerful tools to help one on their healing journey! A ramber, AND an overthinker. Quite a package deal, if I do say so myself. :D

I would LOVE to get the book/DVD combo. I can't find where I read it, but I think someone said it was like having a chef personally teach you the basics so you could make just about anything you thought up? That's after my own heart because I really feel like I'm fumbling my way through raw with no real sense of direction or education (every mother teaches their child how to boil water, but how many mothers teach their child to sprout and dehydrate *sigh* ).

rawrawks: thanks for the info on MSM and coconut oil. Stupid question, though, do I eat the coconut oil on food or use it externally?

Welcome to the forum......you will really like Alissa's book and dvd. If your mother didn't teach you how to sprout and use the dehydrator....don't worry.....after watching her dvd you'll be teaching your mother all about them. If you've been vegetarian that many years, you'll really enjoy her book, you can't read it and not want to eat more fruits and vegetables. Welcome again.
