Over in Raw and Living Food Discussion, Renee has been doing a fantastic job documenting her 30 days raw, all with recipes from Alissa's book. Her photos are beautiful. It is very inspiring.
I am wanting to get into this, but my time is limited, so I want to know what recipes I can make, either dehydrated or not, and freeze.
Up until now I have cut recipes down so I won't have so much, but, especially when dehydrating, it wouldn't take much more time to make a huge batch of something I know I like, IF I can freeze it.
Renee mentioned freezing some things, which is what made me wonder about this.
Although I'm not really a newbie, I haven't really frozen anything.
Thanks, and let's hope this thread takes off. I can't believe I'm the only person who is interested in this.

Alissa's carrot pecan burgers freeze great! You name it and I freeze it (okay, not everything - but you get the idea).
I have a Food Saver and I freeze SO much! *Ü*

Hi AnnieZ!!!
Thank you so much for mentioning my thread! I'm so glad you found encouragement from it!
I want to know what recipes I can make, either dehydrated or not, and freeze.
Well, I got my idea from Lucy, one of our Wonderful Moderators. She freezes EVERYTHING like: Alissa's Calzones, Greens, Bananas...WITH the skins on...(To thaw? I put the frozen banana in a lukewarm, maybe not even lukewarm canning jar of water while I'm doing the rest of my smoothie. For like a couple minutes. Then the peel slides right off. They are still white, not brown.)
Lucy also freezes Burgers, crackers, grapes, melons, almost everything. I tried doing that and it works for me too! That way, when I'm craving something that needed prep, I already have it in my freezer. That's why I made Alissa's Eggplant Pizza today. It freezes SOOO Well!!!
HERE'S WHAT I WOULD FREEZE, WEEK BY WEEK...
WEEK 1: Date Nut Torte, Dressings (if you absolutely **HAVE** to), Greens, Bananas, and fruit for Smoothies, Alissa's Pad Thai Sauce (not the noodles, though...)
(I don't know if I'd do the Pate...seems like the sprouts would wilt and not be good, but don't know)
WEEK 2: Marinade for the Mushrooms (again, fresh is always better), Marinara Sauce, all of Alissa's Pies freeze well, Guac... (not sure if I'd freeze the Lasagnes... seems like it would "kill" something for me...)
WEEK 3: Granola Cerael... I don't know if I would freeze anything else from this week...
WEEK 4: Well, tonight I'm going to freeze Alissa's Noasted Turkey as well as the Eggplant Pizza and Berry Bars. If you choose to make Alissa's Carrot Burgers, I know that they freeze well too...
If you do a Search, you'll find many threads on freezing. You could just make the dish and freeze it and see if you like it when it's thawed.... Your palate may or may not like pre-frozen RAW food... Hope that helps!!!

I have frozen tons of raw meals & snacks. Works really well. Some stuff I would never have thought would freeze well and they taste good still.

I'm also fairly new to freezing - haven't actually frozen anything prepared yet.
But I definitely can vouch for all the fruit - blueberries, peaches(just cut in half), bananas(don't even need to defrost if they go right in the vitamix), cherries(pitted/halved) peach juice(I just squeezed it from the whole peach with my hand)

YES! Same here.
I also freeze avocados whole. Bananas IN their peels (to thaw just place in a jar of luke warm water, within minutes peels will slide right off AND the banana stays much whiter).
I've also prepared half of a recipe and frozen half of that to see how well it works. A lot of recipes freeze well.
"burgers", pizza crusts, crackers, cheezecakes

Is there anything eg fruit or veggie that doesn't freeze well? I am thinking to start freezing stuff a lot! I heard someone tell me a long time ago that eggplant didn't freeze very well but didn't try it myself

I copied this from an old post....
this is my (easier) version of the chili recipe from this forum. Love it on several levels- it tastes wonderful, easy to make, & almost all vegetables. Store in portion-sized freezer baggies & freeze, & then, a few hours before you're ready to eat, it goes from the freezer to the dehydrator to the bowl!
Best Raw Chili from Alissa’s Forum
• one to three cups frozen corn
• ¼ cup olive oil
•Celtic salt to taste
Mix above together in a large bowl.
• 2 carrots
• 2 celery
• 1 red bell pepper
• ½ medium onion
Chop each type of veggie individually in the food processor until finely chopped, but not pureed. Add to above.
• ½ to ¾ cup sun dried tomatoes, soaked & drained
• 4 tomatoes
• 2 avocados
• 1 Tablespoon freshly grated ginger
• 2 Tablespoons chili powder
• 2 teaspoons ground cumin
• about ¼ generous teaspoon cayenne
Process to sauce consistency in food processor & add to above. Stir to combine. Heat to finger-warm in a saucepan, or place in a baggie & dehydrate until warmed through.
