View Full Version : Is there something in the air? UGH!!

I was just sitting here beating myself up for having a horrible day! I had not been on here all day either and since this is my "haven" for encouragement with raw (or mostly raw) eating - I knew I had to come here!
I have been doing sooo good at getting back to eating raw - I am now at least 90-95% raw and then today I have just had the uckiest day! The junk food junky kids that I watch had french fries... I had some (WHAT was I thinking?). Then later on I was fixing dinner for my dh and ds - cooked and, of course SAD - and kept picking at that! I have had such good self control and feel like today I just blew it. I know I have to just pick up and move on, but I just have so many reasons that I need to adopt this new way of life and I get so mad at myself when I get like this. I want to do this and need to do this for weight and for major health issues!
I wondered if it was 'something in the air' because I read vegggeeemom's post too and know she is having a hard time right now also! We had made an agreement to exchange pics and help keep each other encouraged (we are close friends, so this is nice). I looked at my pics today when I emailed them to her and was just soooo discouraged with how I look and then I go and blow it!
I can not help but wonder if the discouragement is also not a side affect of detox. I know that yesterday I was sooooo tired all day long and chalked that up to detox. Now I have to detox the crap (oops, pardon the french) that I ate today.
Well, I just needed to rant and vent and whatever else this is called. Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully send some positive thoughts this way!
Tomorrow will be a better day!

Hi Teri!
Sending some positive thoughts your way! Just think of today as a little speedbump ... :)
(I'm doing the same thing because I didn't do all that great today ...) :o

Yes, it must be something in the air....oh I got it, it's the way the earth is titled! ;)
Well, Teri, tomorrow is a new day! Make the resolve with yourself to start tomorrow on ther right foot and take it one step at a time.
That's what I've got to do. I know I feel SO much better eating correctly, but it's so darn hard to stay right on.
I know from previous experience that I'd go through different periods of craving the bad foods. So, like Carolyn said, this is just a speed bump!
Here's positive vibes your way! BTW, I've got to send you the pics of me today! :)
Chin up and you'll feel better after having gotten that off your chest!

Why do people beat themselves up so much for eating something cooked. We all do it once in a while. If you make yourself feel bad all you are doing is turning any food you eat raw or cooked into poison from the acids in your stomach. It is not worth it.
Just go back to eating as much raw as you can the next day. Take one day at a time and be thankful for what you have in life.
I use to kick myself like you did until I realized that it was doing more harm to me than I needed to do.
Do your best and be happy with it ;)

Flutterfly is soooo right You are creating a more toxic environment in your body with your thoughts then the cooked food you ate.
I have come to realize that those experiences are a great learning tool. Do you recognize anything you learned from the day? ( Nothing negative though, something that will serve you and your goals)
If you can recognize a lesson, it may be helpful to journal that so you can look back on it when your "sight" is a little clearer.
It takes time to change on so many levels. It takes time to grow and to replace old habits and old thought patterns. If you can gift yourself with freedom and love and allow without judgement that that happened and decide what you would like your next step to be, your next goal, then you can avoid the negative energy that comes with beating yourself up or judging yourself when your every choice doesnt serve your goal.
Think of it this way. You ate a cooked meal. So now your body has to convert and deal with what fuel you took in. Add negative thoughts and energy to that process, and now your body also has to deal with what hormones and chemicals such energy releases.
Also. if your goal is to eat raw food, after you eat that cooked meal, if you begin judging yourself or the experience negatively, you just attached a whole bunch of emotion to it, making it have a much larger effect on your subconcious then it would have. I have done that alot!
As Alissa says, It's about persistence, not perfection!
Sending you much positive energy and many blessings. :)

Well said!!!! & Thank you!!!! :) :) :)
I am new to the board, and I have read a lot on the board because I want to improve the way I eat etc., and for those in my family. I have juiced for a few years and made an investment in the kitchen appliances to improve my new healthy lifestyle etc, but jeeze . . . I read some of the post here and it is like man, you guys really beat yourselves up here!!!! Over what food?
I have come to realize no matter how well you try to put the best things in your bodies, there is NO perfection i.e. I read about organic milk last year that had jet fuel molecules in it!!! in part of the country and they were investigating how it got there. So, even organic food is going to be tainted. So, I figure why beat yourselves up if can't get 100% all the time!!!
I figure it this way, learn as much as you can and try to find some balance that makes the most sense for you, and if you eat outside of those boundaries, just start over!!!! Not the end of the world!!!
Relax and enjoy each day, and enjoy the food you eat, and try to make the best decision you can for your body and those you love, but please don't beat up over it, it's not worth!!!!! We all know how bad stress is for the body, why do this to yourself!!!

Thanks for the reminder folks! It does sound silly to "stress" so much over food. I guess I just get frustrated when I feel like I am harming my body, but then I made the decision to do it!
Everyone is great! You are right. Today is another day and it is a wonderful, beautiful day!
Hugs to everyone for the encouragement and reminders!~

I have to agree...don't beat yourself up. It's ok to eat something cooked! Be easy on yourself and enjoy.
