Humble Pie

Hello--I've been lurking here now and then, but decided to join the discussion, as I need the support. I'm a writer/artist/gardener/general bohemian lady living in beautiful rural Virginia. I like doing just about any sort of craft, though things like quilting and crochet which require exactitude are not always my forte. I'm a big reader and majored in English many moons ago.
I've been a vegetarian half my life and became one when I was at Berkeley. I transitioned to veganism over time, and have never found it at all difficult. I love to cook and am vain about my recipes from marinara sauce to zucchini bread. I'm very healthy, my physician grins from ear to ear when I get a check-up, and even though I'm about to be 45, I still frequently get taken as a college student--it kind of embarrasses me but I would be a liar if I said I didn't like it. I credit my health to my organic vegan diet, as my siblings who eat SAD have not aged so well. I regularly do yoga, swim, walk 3 miles a day, bike ride, and like to rebound.
My interest in raw has been the logical next step in my lifelong interest in health. I've done three "raw summers" where I felt wonderful, had glowing skin, and had some much energy people asked if I was caffeinated (no). I've also tried to to go raw a few other times, but I always get messed up--but I'll ask my questions in the appropriate forums.
I have 2 teenage girls, a wonderful fiance, an assortment of pets, and am open to making new friends IRL and online. Nice to meet everyone!
