It seems like every time I make a raw dessert I'm dropping like 10+ dollars. So this month I am resolved to find some REALLY YUMMY dessert ideas that don't cost a fortune. PLEASE help me with your GREAT ideas (for a family of 6 please)! I'll start it off, with one I've come across:
Banana Ice Cream made with my champion juicer with strawberry sauce.
This is especially nice when I get organic bananas that are "over ripe" for 39 cents per pound!

Heather

You can add fresh or frozen fruit to the frozen bananas for a half frozen/pudding/sorbet type dessert...always delicious...use strawberries, blueberries, papaya, mango, peaches...whatever.
To the frozen bananas add a few heaping T of almond butter and a bit of agave or honey if you use that...a pinch of salt and a dash of vanilla.

How 'bout Blueberry "jello" or even berry "jello" (just need to use enough blueberries to gel). Anybody know of any other fruits that really gel well.
BTW - I'm making a list, so come on you creative rawbies I know you're out there, share your low cost dessert ideas - PLEASE!

Puddings. Can make a sauce with carob or cacao powder & spread on apples. I love hemp butter on apple slices. Or can mix it with bananas. Other butters work well too.

What are some of your favorite pudding combos? I've only tried mango.
Thanks,

Besides chocolate:
Kiwi+Banana
Strawberries+Kiwi
Plum+Kiwi
Bananas+Strawberries
Peach+Figs
If you like savory & sweet mixed together:
BananaAvo Pudding
2 Bananas
½-1 Avocado
1 sm Garlic clove
Will sometimes add greens for extra nutrition. Baby spinach works well undetected.
If you have chia seeds, you can make many desserts with them.

I make banana ice cream cakes, with three different flavoured layers (banana flavoured with things like berries, mint, cacao, mango etc.). You can 'ice' it with another ice cream layer and decorate with fresh fruits.
One of my quick kid friendly choc puddings:
3 bananas
1 avocado
2 dates (soaked if you like)
2 tablespoons of cacao or carob (or leave this out if you dont mind green tinted pudding)
Blend!
Another pudding is:
the meat of one young thai coconut (you can get these for a couple of bucks)
bit of the coconut water
2 dates
Blend!
You can also add some coconut oil to make it creamy.

I make fruit crumbles all the time. Just slice up some seasonal fruit - whatever is cheap that week. Take half of the fruit and blend it with a little honey, agave, maple syrup or soaked dates. If the fruit is something like apples that will brown, you'll want to add a little lemon juice to the puree. Mix the blended fruit with the sliced fruit, add some spices like cinnamon or ginger and put it in a baking dish or pie pan. For the topping I take maybe a cup of nuts and seeds (half any nut, half low-cost sunflower seeds) and add enough pureed soaked dates to make it crumbly. If I don't have dates, I'll use agave. If I have some raw rolled oats or sprouted buckwheat groats I'll add some of that too to bulk it up and cut some of the fat. Sprinkle on top of the fruit. Done. Blueberries are probably the easiest to use since they gel up naturally, but I've used peaches, plums, apples, pears - whatever is on sale at the store or cheap at the farmers market. If you have a dehydrator that you can fit a pan into, you can warn the crumble up a crisp up the topping, but if not its great as is.

Alissa's DATE NUT Torte is so good!!! AND, not expensive to make. Also, try her Chocolate Chip Cookies...they are "THE BOMB"!!! Taste just like Toll House!!!
I also got an idea for Snicker Bites from this site...it's a quick, easy, and not expensive snack! I just had a few yesterday! I keep the Almond Butter/Cacao/Agave mixture in a baggie in my Freezer and just cut open a DATE and fill it in when I'm ready to eat... So Good!!!

That's what I was gonna say -- recipes with raisins seem quite economical.
A while back, I made Ani Phyo's raw Mango Cobbler -- it cost $37 -- no joke
Then, I took it to church, and my congregants ate it in less than 5 minutes!
Never again will I share it LOL :p!

THIS is exactly why I am looking for inexpensive ideas, I feel like I'm HOARDING my raw desserts and I like to SHARE. But man, sharing sure can get expensive!

Blend the water and meat of a young coconut ($2.00) with 1 cup cashew pieces soaked for 1-2 hours ($2.33), 1/4 cup maple syrup ($1.25), 2 T. coconut oil ($0.64), juice of one lemon ($0.50), and seeds from 1/2 vanilla bean ($0.30).
Serve as is or chill. It will set up like pudding if chilled overnight. Keeps for 2-3 days. My favorite ways to eat it are as a dip for sliced bananas or chunks of mango, or layered with berries in a parfait glass.
Total cost is $7.00. (Not counting the fruit.) Makes about 6 - 1/2 cup servings, plus plenty of spatula licks. I don't know it you consider that low cost, but it could be compared to some other desserts. More importantly, it tastes like a million bucks.
Note I used cashew pieces. About half the cost of whole cashews.

Oh YUMMY! And I currently have 2 young coconuts in my frig that need to be used up. Sadly I rarely get them because I have to drive an HOUR to get to anyplace that sells them! But I will keep it in mind for when I am already making that trip - THANKS!
