View Full Version : how much food?

I only go to the grocery store 1 time a week. There is no other way to go before the next tuesday because I don't drive and no one to go for me. I want to start the raw diet but wonder how much food is enough to last 1 week(say weds-weds) I only want to do simple fruit,veggies,smoothies,salads and occasionally raw nuts/seeds. I would much rather have to much than not enough if you know what I mean. Can anyone give me a idea of how much i will need to buy???

Well, it depends on what "staples" you already have in your kitchen (EVOO, NUTS, etc...) and what you need to buy and what you're planning to make. My suggestion is to follow Alissa's lead...make a shopping list of the items you will need for the RAW dishes you will make. Get plenty of GREENS (Spinach, Romaine, Kale, etc..) for smothies and don't forget some Bananas for freezing.

That's really hard to say. W/out knowing your tastes, dislikes, likes, how much you eat. It's up to you.

Okay. If you eat a banana a day - get enough. Same with other fruits and veggies. Romaine lettuce should last that long, but then again, if you make green smoothies.

This is like impossible (for me) to assist you.

Do you have Alissa's book? She gives a shopping list for the 30-day challenge. You should check it out and see what SHE says you should do...I don't have it in front of me...

Buy what you like to eat, it's called Trial and Error. You will soon learn how to buy for a week. Remember you will be abe to Freeze some things if needed. Take the time to "Prep'" your food, this will give you more storage room and you will be able to see what you have, at a glance.
