"I can't be a raw foodist because. . . "
"I'll do it tomorrow because. . . "
Let's start a thread about all of the negatives that pull us away and then dispell them with truth! Truth is a mighty weapon!
"I can't start this week because there's too much going on!"
- If I don't commit now, I'll put it off forever.
- It's as easy as firing up the blender.
"I can't do this married to a meat-eater and hunter who likes to eat out all the time."
- His choices don't define me.
- Yes, he'll try to sabotage me and he'll ridicule me, but that's about him, not me.
- I am intellegent and I have my own power. I can pack my own food to take to restaurants or eat separately from him.
"I need my junk food addictions."
OK, gang, hit me with your best stuff, this is the one that nails me all the time. It gets me before I hear the words in my head.

~I am a creative being and can discover RAW ways to hush the "sweet/salty/cruncy/ bad for me" voices in my head
~I choose to be inspired by RAW foods instead of addicted to SAD foods
I need help here too :o but I will work on it!! :)

Using EFT (http://bit.ly/18V8la) ~
Even though (state the problem), I choose to (state the solution).
Even though every time I open the fridge I'm tempted by the cheese, I choose to maintain my healthy food program.
Even though I really want some of that pizza he's making, I choose to be my own best friend and eat what will sustain me in the long run.
Even though I want to eat starches when I'm stressed, instead, I go for a walk (or journal) and move the energy!

I just do...
do start
do complete
do strive
do excel

Problem: I can't have Revell because she's in Lucy's pocket.
Solution: Become a pickpocket and get her.
Problem: When I try to take her out of Lucy's pocket, I can't because ReneeH already has and now Revell's in HER pocket.
Solution; Become a faster pickpocket than ReneeH.
Ravell's Solution: Even though Revell is rotating through pockets, I choose to become wise myself so I won't need her.

Even thought I can't be in everyone's pocket, if they so choose, they can be in mine. :p
Y'all are too funny. :D

Hee, hee, hee, hee!! You guys are WAY too much fun!
But SERIOUSLY, this is for those of us who struggle, and, yes, selfishly, I'm including ME.
How I wish I could run away to one of the live in programs and just KICK it hard!

I see it as a matter of want vs. need, and openly admit I am often weak when it comes to deciding between wants and needs. Here's a quote from a friends dear old mom...
"You are old enough for your wants not to hurt you"...my loose translation-don't be upset that you don't get what you want, but stop, think, and realize you'd be better off to instead, give yourself what you need.
----
"I can't start this week because there's too much going on!"
translation:
I don't want to start this week because there is too much going on.
a proper rebuttal could be:
I need to start this week, so I can become healthier and be better able to handle all that is going on.
-----------
"I can't do this married to a meat-eater and hunter who likes to eat out all the time."
translation:
"I don't want to deal with the conflict that would arise from changing my food habits, while my spouse continues to take a less healthy route to a meal."
a proper rebuttal could be:
I need to do this, so I can be a good witness to him/her, as to how a better food lifestyle can benefit us.
---------
"I need my junk food addictions."
translation:
"I want my junk food because I feel addicted to it."
a proper rebuttal could be:
"Has the frequency of my questionable food choices caused an unhealthy habitual dependancy on those foods, which might be feeding my emotions moreso than nourishing my body?"

"I can't do this for the long haul because it's not a 'sociable diet'"
"I can't stay raw because it's just too darn expensive"!
Notice I've got nothing under them. These are my mountains to raw food bliss.

"I can't do this for the long haul because it's not a 'sociable diet'"
Even though I feel as though I can't do this for the long haul, I choose to honor myself as my best friend and take care of me the best I can, always.
"I can't stay raw because it's just too darn expensive"!
Even thought I feel eating raw is too expensive, I choose to check and see what others are doing here, especially Frugal Raw because I KNOW I'm not alone in this which is why I'm here.

Sincerely, this is not selfish by any means. This is a support forum including self-support.
Most everyone is "struggling" at SOME level which is why EFT is so powerful. It often removes the struggle and supports people in their growth and aliveness.

Problem: I need my junkfood addictions.
Solution: I don't need them
lol I'm not trying to be silly -- I've actually been saying this to myself with some good results! When my roommates are making waffles or I pass a pizza place or whatever, I just go "PPFffff! Yeah right. You don't need that." Because I don't. I'm healthier and bigger and smarter than that. I am way more powerful and beautiful than my food addictions make me feel. It gives me a good boost of self esteem, enough to walk away and do something else.
Through doing this, I've become aware that my food cravings are my way of covering up unpleasant emotions. So first I say "You don't need that." and then I ask myself, "But why do you feel like you need that?" and usually there's something I need to address lurking under there.

All of us CAN do this but not all of us know it ;)

It's true, everybody CAN do it yet, most are not aware of how, when, where and why they sabotage themselves. It all SOUNDS good when the monkey mind tells them they NEED to do this or that yet, unless someone is aware enough to realize the reasons and stop the sabotage, then, they can't!
I'm pretty sure we all know where D'vorah is coming from with this.
We go to bed at night with every intention of getting up in the morning and going out walking or going to the gym yet, the person who went to bed isn't the same one waking up in the morning.
We get up in the morning with every intention of being 100% raw, then someone at the office brings in our favorite "treats" and the person with the intention disappears and the other sub-personality who is afraid of change jumps in and sabotages.
We do well all day long then in the evening, up jumps the devil!
We eat before going out, then we visit a friend/relative and they'll feel badly if we don't eat what they offer OR, we feel anti-social.
I'm pretty sure most of us have been there at one time or another so, bringing up the reasons why we "can't" and then sharing why we can.. it's how and why EFT works. You've got to admit where you are before you can move on to where you want to be.

Exactly. You perfectly get it. And that's why I started this thread. To be a help to all of us who struggle to start the path or to stay on the path. I'm not talking about perfection, that all-or-nothing mindset either, just going in the direction that will bring the desired result.
I'm really glad that there are people who just "can" and "do" and experience that raw bliss, but, and no offense intended, I didn't start this thread for y'all. Only if you've struggled can you reach down into the mud and help another struggler and sometimes it's by offereing some specific word or tool that results in overcoming beliefs and behaviors. The right words and tools will be unique for each of us, so, if enough people say enough things, there's a really good chance that more than one or two strugglers will have an "aha!" experience.
For me, I believe that if I can get to the place where I can really, really "do" this, then I can do anything.
Somewhere between one set of beliefs and a vastly different set of beliefs, it falls apart.
Been a while since I tried to use EFT, so, that's a great suggestion. When I tried to use it last time I did have some success, but my needs and issues were too broad and too much. Large chunks of healing have happened since then, so, I need to be less dismissive of the technique and hit it again.
Thanks!
Deborah
