Hello everyone!
Food is nutrition we give ourselves out of love to nurture and care for our physical self. And this physical care translates into emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. I think if you choose any diet in a spirit of self-loathing, self-punishment and denial, you will be associating negative energy with your food which will ultimately be digested and become a part of your system - regardless of whether that food is a pizza pie or an apple. Please everyone, love yourself and choose what you eat out of love!
B: 2 bananas, dried figs
L: carrot-cuke-lettuce-tomato-sunflower seed-pignoli-alfalfa sprout salad
Snack: clementines, pear
Dinner: zucchini rice with marinara sauce, raddichio salad (loving raddichio right now!!!), almond milkshake, mango for dessert
Have a great end of the day!

It is my day Nine too, at least I started on Nov. 1st. I have not spent enough time on the website, I introduced myself and then drifted off. I really appreciated the initial moral support and ideas, it is kind of a lonely path when your whole family eats "normal" food and to suddenly be the one to change that comfortable status quo with something this radical. My husband likes to cook, and I have just dusted off 1/2 of his fan club.....I keep telling him how much our love-life will improve when I am thinner.
I find the 30Day Raw Challenge very helpful, it gave me a short-term goal to focus on, knowing that I would be writing and accounting here(although I just found where this "here" place is!)
I am still having coffee with milk, (yes, big addict) but have quit everything else cooked except maybe organic miso is cooked? I have had a couple of cups of miso and wakame soup the first few days. The first 5 days I had mad cravings. But I am doing well now, except that I'm losing a lot of weight, 14 pounds in 9 days, and I'm so fat it is totally un-noticible even by me! Actually my breasts seemed a little smaller today. I am having faith and focusing on eating "whatever" raw as long as I don't get hungry. The first 5 days that included a lot of nuts! but trying to cut back and eat my lentil and mung-bean sprouts. My countertop sprout garden is doing well! I'm eating a LOT o f sprout salads. My grand plan is to stick with it for 9 months and reclaim my body and my health. and my freedom! I want to be able to learn Sailing and be swimsuit ready by next Summer. I also hope the raw diet will make my brain work better, I'm a student at 49 and in the last year, my mind seems to be getting dramatically stupid-er. A lot of menopausal issues too, so I hope it is not the big "A." Does anyone know of cases of reversing "getting stupid"??? Speaking of my "eat whatever as long as it is raw plan" simple raw food is so easy! really short term goals, learn how to make flax crackers, without the whole seed since everytime I eat whole flax I get appendicitis type pain. Thank you for reading my post.

Hi Diva Jess,
Traditionally, Fenugreek improves the milk supply, possibly even up to 900% according to the babycenter dot com website article I just saw. You can also sprout it if you can find some organic seed in the spice section of a health food store, Whole foods probably has it. But if you let the sprouts grow too long they get bitter. I haven't use it for nursing but it has rave reviews. I usually use fenugreek to "dissolve mucus" if I get a cold. Modern medicine says that is placebo, well, my placebo effect works well then.
My midwife said drinking a lot of water is essential, maybe if you measure out how much you plan to drink in a day, ahead of time. A few mint leaves in water in the fridge is very refreshing if you find plain water a little un-inspiring. Good luck with the nourishments all around.

also, if you can, let baby nurse as much as possible. Something about the "demand" yields "supply". Wish I had known that with my first baby. And don't be afraid to eat!:)

Hi All,
I am just loving this forum! I enjoy reading everyones post.I havent posted for a couple days But I am staying raw. This is day 18 for me. I havent lost a lot of weight and I am very close to throwing out my scale. It is a nice scale , I even thought of digging a hole in the back yard , wrap it in plastic and bury it( silly me).I feel great, I am full of energy most days, My back pain and joint pain are gone. Detox is taking a break so I am beginning to enjoy this

Notpinsky, I so enjoyed your post. I love your attitude. I think you are doing very well too. Yes, I do believe that living food will definitely help us think more clearly. Now, the next thing I'm going to say is NOT because you are still drinking coffee - but it shows how we are what we ingest. I totally quit coffee when my first husband was very sick with cancer. I needed every bit of energy I could muster up to be up with him most nights. He was a very easy-going man - me, not so much and very slow with "come-backs". One day, out of the blue, I actually said something funny, and made him laugh. He said (with affection) "You're gettin' better chick!" I have never forgotten it. And after that he would say in the hospital coffee shop where we'd go for a break -"No coffee!", in no uncertain terms. After he died, and I began to socialize more, I began to drink it. If our food and drink can heal our other organs (skin, nerves, digestion, etc. etc.) why not our brain?! We all know this of course but I just had to share. Many here say "don't sweat the small stuff" i.e. coffee - I was just trying to encourage you that if my little old brain could think of something funny to say after giving up one kind of poison, yours can improve too with living food. (maybe it wasn't even the coffee, but rather the sugar in it!).

thanks shine and itsallgood.
Rich,
I have totally played that psychological game with myself for a long time. Eating raw makes me feel total and utter bliss, calm, grounded, happy, eliminates my anxiety and all depression symptoms. Then I think to myself "I know I can get this back any time, so I'll have cooked food until I'm ready to heal." It's a silly thing.
Another thing I deal with is perfectionism and guilt. If I don't eat 100% raw, it means I "failed" and I judge myself for it and then go back to cooked. This is why I put in my planned "non raw" day for Saturdays. It's doing several things to help me psychologically.
it's good to hear commonalities, thanks.

I slept right through the night. So good! But I was really dragging - not the tired kind of dragging - rather the real lack of energy. I've just got too much to do today, so I decided to break the fast with one tall glass of freshly juiced oranges. Mmm. It was so good and now I feel energized and happy.:)

i've been eating raw... just not posting cause i've been sick with the flu. yesterday was a plate of tomatoes for dinner, strawberries for lunch and i think i had a banana for breakfast.
this morning i started the day with 1 litre of coconut water (from 2 young coconuts) and then i had a fruit salad (banana, strawberries, pear, orange and chia seeds) for lunch.
the flax crackers are out of the dehydrator so i'll be munching on them for dinner... probably with some tomatoes and cucumbers on them.

I couldn't agree with you more. My head aches sooooo much. I choose not to take medication so I'm just resting ... LOTS ... and eating raw live food. Couldn't stomach the crackers I made, but my hubby (even though he's sick as well) loves them. So they won't go to waste.
Off to rest...

Alissa. I'm SO sorry you are sick. That stinks. Sending healing vibes your way!
Day two off my fast and my tummy is not quite back to normal yet, whatever normal is.
B: A cracker and a lara bar.
L: Ate three mushrooms with pesto before I decided they were not quite right. Had a stomach ache for the rest of the day, until about 7pm.
S: Alissa's mashed "taters" and gravy. I really liked these, especially the gravy, BUT I thought garlic mashed potatoes would be REALLY good and I added two LARGE cloves of garlic..... they were good but STRONG and now my stomach is just burning! :D Not a painful burning, sort of a vaporish feeling. Silly me!

well, today is veteran's day and i'm certainly in a war of mind and body. but this is the "no tear zone", no whining. "...it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going." this is the place to be until someone puts together 30 straight days. as i continue this journey and show up on this thread every day, i'm sure to put together a measly 30 days. like today for example, i plan to enjoy plenty of nice, fresh produce. avocados are filling but they're not that much different than any other produce. i'll go to some of the remembrance activities today in the area, it should be a good day. i hope to continue my war of eating raw so i can be raw in two years on 11/11/11, doesn't that sound cool. Yesterday was a good day, but the news last night was more terrible than usual, if that's possible. i found a stretch of land, new to me, to walk around in yesterday, ah nature. it's still fall for a little while longer, such a pretty time of the year. but the fall is almost over here in pa.:)

Hello and Happy Armistice Day! We had the day off from work, hooray!
Well, today is my last day of the 30 day challenge! I am really amazed how quickly it went by, and by how less difficult it is today to be 100% raw than it was just 2 weeks ago. I definitely see a change - I am much brighter and shinier. Friends and people at work have noticed too. Really amazing.
I am thinking to proceed for another 60 days -- this would be a bday present to myself as on the 91st day, I would turn a year older.
On the other hand, I no longer want to take the "have to" approach as I don't want to prolong a sense of "can't" in my diet. I am hoping that I will naturally continue to be raw, and why not be 100%? I have been racking my brain but really can't come up with any food that could not be raw that I would need to make an excuse for. Everything is available to us!
So, this will be my last post to this thread though I will be flitting around the forum. Good luck everyone, you can do it! Feel great!
B: green smoothie - for Islegirl I will write the recipe :) 3 kiwis, apple, 2 cups spinach, green powder
L: walnut paté stuffed red pepper, pumpkin soup
D: the other hald of the red pepper with more paté, pear

i had another fruit salad for breaky this morning. mango, banana and pear - oh and apple.
dashed off to the store quickly (although i'm still not feeling 100% so it was a quickie dash in and out) and picked up more grapes, strawberries and bananas. i'm set for a few more days now. ;)
being sick... all i want is fruit, so fruit it is.

I sprouted some buckwheat grout ( my first time)I was so excited to see the tails.
For breakfast I made buckwheat porridge it was Amazing! But it did not agree with me,I had very bad indigestion.
For dinner(no lunch I was still full from breakfast) Zucchini pasta with the last of my pesto sauce.
later I will snack on some grapes.
Tomorrow I will go back to my green smoothie for breakfast.

Hi Tguch - thanks for sharing your smoothie recipe. Isn't it wonderful to be feeling more bright and shiny?! Yes siree!:D Congrats on completing 30 days. Yahoo! Keep on rawkin!
1love - isn't it satisfying to "sprout"? Yes, I know. But too bad that it didn't agree with you. At least not in porridge.
Katch - glad that you're feeling better!
Another day is coming to an end. My supper was small. I tried the "Eggplant Lasagna" that I'd frozen the other day and ended up throwing it out. Yuck! I guess I will halve the recipes (the big ones) until I find things I like. I likely ruined it myself because I didn't use it the first time I checked it. That was when it tasted yummy. Next time I will do it only 12-14 hours in the dehydrator and slice my eggplant really thin and get the bitterness all out of it. So I ate the rest of Alissa's Applesauce. to which I added coconut, cashews and raisins. Not too hungry today at all and am finished eating. Off to brush my teeth.:D

Hi All,
Well, I'm coming up for air as I am just getting better from what must have been the swine flu as I haven't gotten sick in several years! The great news is I ate 100% raw while sick(still a bit sick) and kicked the thing in two days whereas before during my SAD days, I would have been down for the count for at least a week with how bad I felt. I drank green juices, orange juice, tea, ate oranges, sprouted/soaked nuts, big salads, and even ate a delicious raw veggie kabob with raw bbq sauce last night from one of Carol Alt's books. Because I was so diligent with raw, I truly think I sped up my healing in an incredible fashion. I mean, yesterday I was down for the count, unable to move, with a fever...and today I took my dogs for a walk and laughed and meditated, etc. So wow! YAY RAW!!
I was reading on another thread about raw pregnancies and I am wanting you all to know that I am 39 and planning on getting pregnant for the first time this year, so wish me luck. I am still doing the 6 days a week 100% raw and one day with some cooked, but I feel so good and happy and healthy and not at all judging myself which is the first time since wanting to go raw several years ago I've been able to do!!!
Today(Let the healing begin as I'm still not all that hungry from being sick) I had..
B-BIG Orange Juice
L-some raw sprouted/dehydrated pecans
S-some raw vegan bacon made out of eggplant, YUMBO!!!
D- Tonight we are going to have pineapple and some raw vanilla pudding made with avocado.
What a decadent life!

Well, for a snack I had some young coconut meat, dates, and cacao powder made into a pudding and it REALLY gave me a stomach ache. These coconuts are getting onto a week or so old, so I wonder if that is it, as both my daughters got stomach aches today too, but didn't when we ate them earlier. Well all the coconuts are GONE now, sad day, the water was divine.
For supper I had a salad with some eggless egg stuff as a sort of dressing. I have not had just a plain salad in awhile and it tasted so good!

I didn't do so well today in a way.
I had a fabulously healthy Green Smoothie though - big one.
Here is what I put in it: Juice of about 4 stalks celery & leaves, about 6 apples, 1/2 lemon, to which I added in the vita-mix - collard greens and swiss chard, 1/2 cucumber, mango and later some frozen banana as it gets a bit stronger tasting over time in the fridge - the banana thus making it more palatable. So this was my only good meal until later in the day. Then I weakened and had something I shouldn't have. But I didn't "pig out" anyway. So I am still quite comfortable. ( ssh Sue, she whispers - not supposed to mention it here:eek:)
But I had boundless energy again all day. Today I spent time with a family member. It was a sad time for a few hours. I try to help. But I don't know how this will turn out. In spite of this, tonight I was almost smiling I'm sure as I walked around the grocery store. I love this raw life. Hoping that the rest of you are okay. I know you are very busy people. I'm sure many of you have to prepare meals (sad ones) for other family members. Your time and energy is so precious. Best to you all.:)

Hi IsleGirl!
I'm here with you! Your smoothie sounds yummy!
I am doing really well again. I am telling you this planned cooked food Saturday is what keeps me raw all week! It's what's helped me to stay 100% raw from Sunday through Friday night. I love the feeling of knowing if I go six days all raw I can have some cooked foods on Saturday. Interestingly enough, because I am eating so healthy all week, the cooked foods I am starting to crave are just cooked veggies really( and some other stuff but the cravings are getting MUCH healthier. I think my tastebuds are changing!)
Today I am still recovering from the flu I had, though being raw makes me feel like I've recovered SO much faster than if I was cooked.
Today I had:
B- Big Orange Juice
S- Some raw "Tuscan Olive Bread" from Carol Alt's book. VERY delicious, but consistency was not so good. It just crumbled and fell apart on the plate.
L- One big giant pear, some raw nuts.
S- 32 Oz green juice
D- I'm about to have a big salad and some guacamole and flax chips with salsa.
Hope you're all doing well!

Hello Aleehsa, Kat, Sue and Denise. I hope you're feeling better Alessha, it was nice to hear you were craving fruit through your sickness and stayed with it. I was wondering where anyone was yesterday also, I was hoping to read something positive. It was nice to read the posts from yesterday. And I'm here today to continue my raw process. Like Alissa says, I truly need to be 100% raw to make this work for me. Anything less and anything goes, unfortunately. I want to have a good day today. I'm feeling positive, I'm feeling loving today. I am love and acceptance is my mantra for the day. This just can't be that difficult. And I've been trying for too long not to get my 30 days. I'll be at LA Fitness for a while, then I'll go see a cheap show at the University of Pennsylvania. I'll be eating produce the entire day and I'm looking forward to getting back on here later or tomorrow and keep the support going. I couldn't be more motivated. This is what my life is supposed to be, eating raw. I need to do it.

I am the same way Paul. Have been with so many things in my life...eating is no exception. I am on Day 19 now and feeling great but there are still those moments everyday when I think.....oh a little _______ won't kill me. But then I stop and say that I (too) need these 30 days. I too have been hemming and hawing and doing raw here and there for a couple of years. Something clicked for me when I found Alissa's site and got her book. Now I feel committed and I have a path to follow.
We can ALL do this because we are CHOOSING to do this. And it is such a wonderful way to be :D
Banana's with whipped cream for breakfast (I did the wc with grape juice - good!)
Sunny Pate stuffed peppers with arugula and sprouts for lunch
I have almonds soaking for a snack and am stopping by the hfs on my way home so I know I'll pick up a goodie or two there as well.

Feel better Aleesha! My bug is still hanging on too. I think about if I hadn't of been raw, phew!
QUESTION:
As far as the 100% raw, I was wondering if it's still okay for me to post on Alissa's board if I am 100% raw except on Saturdays? I adore Alissa's book. It's my bible! And I totally agree that 100% raw is the way to go! But when I was trying for years to do 100% raw, I kept feeling guilty all the time and going REALLY off raw. So now I do take one planned day off and have been able to do 6 days 100% raw for a long time now. But if that's not okay to post about (I was just reading about Alissa's rules and regulations. I guess I should have read all of those first LOL) I can not post in these forums anymore as I don't want to break any rules. I guess my question is
Do you have to be 100% raw to post in these forums?
Maybe someone let me know?
Today I haven't been hungry yet, just had a quart of lemon water.
I am planning on having a giant salad, a big pineapple, some watermelon, and more salad.

as per some recent personal issues I am taking the advice of some very kind members here and throwing myself into the 30 Day challenge. I know when I did the challenge the first time I felt much more confident in myself throughout the day when it came to food choices. it really helps to know every one on here is trying to do the same thing.
So far today;
B: carrot juice
Mid-Morn: banana and small handful of seeds
L:1 asian pear, 2 small apples
Snack: 3 bananas at various times and a few nibbles of nut mix
D: I will be cutting up about 1.5 pounds or so of fresh carrots and dipping them into a delicious dip of avo, tomato, and onion. DELICIOUS!
yesterday went great as well, almost just fresh juice and apples. 1 cooked thing in the evening though, but it is an improvement.
My mental resolve is improving as well.

What comforts me is to think how sick I would have been eating cooked. One good thing about this flu/cold is that it's keeping me 100% raw now since last Sunday and I am going to stay raw all day today. I am going to rest today and drink tons of water, eat tons of greens, and green juices.
Here's the plan for today:
B- Big green smoothie
S- 32 Oz Green Juice
L-Big green salad
S-32 Oz Green Juice
D- Big green salad
Hope everyone has a wonderful happy day! If you need something to help you feel good, just be grateful for not having a cold/flu!
Best!

Have been so busy this week.
Early this a.m. I had an orange.
At the moment I am sipping the other half of a huge Green Smoothie I made early this morning with: Frozen bananas, big bunch greens (frozen) of Kale (I think), 2 T ea of flax, sesame seeds, bunch grapes and now I've just added some raspberries to finish it off - YUM!:D
For supper I am planning another smoothie with a honeydew melon and dandelion greens - courtesy of Victoria Boutenko's new book "Green Smoothie Revolution".
It is a gorgeous day here - was out in the sun all morning. Hope you all have a good healthy, happy weekend.:)

Pretty god day food wise today.
I went for a run this morning and finished it off with a delicious GS. Put me in a great mood, though the run had already done that *giggle*
B: GS- 3 small bananas, 1 tsp spirulina, 1/2 cup or so of frozen green juice (made it earlier this week; mint, parsley, and mixed baby greens). SO good!
L: 1 avo and 1 tomato chopped up with 1 tbsp olive oil. Avo and 'mato is a huge hit for my tummy right now haha
D: I will be having spinach and rapini salad with a dressing made of 1 avo, 1 'mato, and 1 small onion blended up.
S: 3 small bananas so far, I plan on either a bowl of chopped apples later, or a bowl of blueberries and cranberries.
I haven't been too hungry today, still a bit bloated and backed up, but it's getting there. All I want is greens, avo/'mato, and lots of apples.
I'm off to help hubby finish of the cooked dinner for my parents tonight!
Have a good evening everyone!

evening all!
Just got home from work...after almost getting locked in for night! *eep* It's just lucky my manager decided to stop and chat with passerby's before he drove away..and saw me waving frantically through the locked doors haha
Anyway...
No run this morning, just light strength training and some fun on the Wii. Awesome work out last night though! I'm getting my RAW energy back after just 4 days!
B: GS of 2 cups apple peels, 1/2 cup green juice, and 1 tsp spirulina
Then I ate 10 bananas for the course of 3 hours! Ravenously hungry!
That's all I've had today. I am finally starting to feel hungry. I may just have an avo/'mato salad or try something in my BRAND NEW FOOD PROCESSOR! First one of my life! Hubby got it today and gave it to me as I walked in the door.
So excited...
I may just make carrot juice though, depends on if I feel any hungrier.
night everyone!

Woke up this morning feeling very tired and stomach very unsettled. So I have nothing to report here really. Had a salad for supper and now I feel ready to simply go to bed but it's early. Hope this passes soon. It actually started yesterday after my huge smoothie. I think I got too much in my stomach and it is taking forever to digest. Burped all day today and yesterday I hiccupped a lot - something that seldom ever happens.
I have a pineapple and a bunch of dandelion greens for the morning.:)

AH! I just had my first persimmon! I am in love...now to wait for the other 4 to ripen, they're still rock hard.
And I used my FP! I made a dip with 1 cup rapini, 1 cup mixed types of mushrooms, 1/2 english cucumber, and 1/2 a small onion. SO GOOD! I've been spooning it out more than dipping my carrots in it.
Not very hungry though, I've had 3rd of the dip and only a few carrots but I'm fairly full. I'm off to move and play!

Oh yeah baby, a sweet persimmon.....that will be in MY Christmas stocking this year!
B: Green smoothie of banana, apple, and spinach. It was wayyyyy too sweet.
L: The last of my noasted turkey loaf. My that stuff was good. RP brownie, thinned down so it was more like a pudding. Carrot.
S: Avocado and tomato. Carrot, apple, banana.
I feel good about what I ate today!

I've been raw for over 3 years, but i'm new to this site. Since i'm raw already, consider me "in" on this 30 day raw mission. I'm actually on day 19 of a juice fast. Last day is Sunday, then 2 days of juice with pulp, one day of smoothies and a light meal. Then, ready to eat a nice raw meal for Thanksgiving dinner! Yay!
What is everyone planning on eating for Thanksgiving? Here is my menu:
Spinach and Cheese Balls from Raw Freedom Community
Portobello Balls - these are adapted from Everyday Raw by Matthew Kenney
Portobello Steak w/ Mashed Potatoes - another from Everyday Raw
some sort of side salad or stuffing if I can find an awesome recipe!
Pumpkin Pie from Everyday Raw
Chocolate Hazelenut Torte from Everyday Raw
I'm also traveling for the rest of the holiday (Friday thru Sun), so I'll be making a few different breads/crackers/salads to take with me.
I'm looking forward to making myself Matthew Kenney's Blueberry Pancakes for Breakfast after i'm done juice fasting! I've been salivating over these for 2 weeks now!

Ooooo, your menu sounds scrumtious. I haven't got a menu planned yet. Will be eating with a large group of SAD eaters, but there will be three of us raw, so I want to have a nice meal for us.
This would make a good separate thread.

I'm new to these boards and i'm just trying to figure them out :) There may be an old thread about it, I don't know.
I read the "Julie and Julia" threads and it has motivated me. I'm going to do that with each of my raw books... starting with Matthew Kenney's.. but, i'm not going to exclusively make from his books, but i'll try! There are just so many good raw recipes out there and so many variations! I love that there are boards like this and gone raw and RFC where people can comment on recipes and tweak them to their liking.
Your lucky that you'll have 3 others eating raw with you! I've had the Broccoli Salad from goneraw and that was a nice compliment to last years Thanksgiving dinner - my in-laws are german and they have their own mayo/sugar dressing recipe for this salad that includes Cheese and Bacon.... they all LOVED my raw version!

I'm alive! This is an incredible diet, I am feeling happier and more empowered than I have in a long time (since the other time I tried raw diet). A couple mornings ago I was happy. Yes, happy in the morning! I noticed how bizarre that was. I think this diet has relieved me of living under a black cloud of food allergies. I am much more even-tempered since I gave up sugar. Awareness of my body is pretty painful, I feel fatter everyday, but deep denial was not doing me any favors.
I still haven't gotten past the "super-simple" raw diet, of eat anything including a lot of nuts, pumpkin and sunflower, chia seeds, dried fruit, other fruit. Big salads with a lot of lentil and mung bean sprouts lunch and dinner, with raw garlic and olive oil and balsamic vinegar (is vinegar cooked or fermented raw juice--does anyone know for sure?) I am sprouting 1 cup each of lentils and mung beans every week, although this week it is going to be some aduki and french green lentils. I wish I could find local whole red sprouting lentils. I'll have to check PCC market. Started some Alfalfa sprouts but the seed is over 20 years old (!) and they aren't doing well. Maybe I'll plant them.
Bought a cart full of fruit last weekend and the challenge is to eat it before it goes bad. The whole family is eating a lot more fruits and salads. I leave them (husband and older son) to their own devices, my husband loves to cook. But last night I made spiralized zucchini angel hair (amazing long strands! For some reason that made me so happy!) and an herby tomato sauce with some dried tomatoes, and a huge salad with grated carrot, beet, tomato, lettuces. It was "what's for dinner" and everyone ate "raw zucchetti" and loved it! At least they ate it, said it was good, and I was thrilled to have something New and different! My first attempt at something other than just salad for dinner.
My new goal is to make gourmet raw dinners for the family at least a few nights a week. I'm starting to see the attraction with all the raw food recipes, where before they just seemed weird. Exciting stuff!
I weighed myself Sunday morning, and have lost 16 pounds since starting the diet challenge. It doesn't show at all, I'm still very fat, but have hope for health and a future. My goal (still) is to stick to raw for 9 months and achieve my pre-pregnancy weight, and the vitality I had as a 10 year old. Lofty, but until proven otherwise, I maintain that it may be possible. It is a grand experiment anyway. I feel very scientific. ;)
I am inspired by the listing of the TG Raw Menu! Wow! I think I will make some raw tg. goodies for family this year, and they can also do what makes them happy.
Thank you to all who wrote to me, for the moral support and ideas, and I wish you all well. I hope everyone else is experiencing this much happiness and hope. Cheers all!

Hey Notpinsky, glad to hear it is going so well for you. Sixteen pounds, that is amazing! And it sounds like your family is so supportive as well. I wish you all good things. I really enjoy making recipes that my whole family, even the SAD eaters like. My husband is embracing raw more and more. I doubt he will ever go 100% but he is a very healthy man to begin with, so even high raw will do wonders for him.
There are some threads here about balsamic vinegar if you do a search. I stick with apple cider, but then I don't even LIKE balsamic so that is no hardship!
B: banana
L: I attempted a cream of carrot soup recipe that was in Gabriel Cousens' book. It was ok for about three bites but that was it. Too weird of a combination of sweet and savory. I am making leather out of the rest to see what that is like, hopefully more edible! Had a handful of cashews.
S: Pizza made with Alissa's Easy Crust (highly recommended) topped with marinara, green peppers, mushrooms, marinated spinach, red onion, and Cheddar Cheeze Sauce. It was yummo.
My daughter made some RP brownie stuff, not sure if I will have any or not. I am pretty full now.

S: Raw chili with corn bread and onion dip. YUM. My whole family ate it and liked it.

Must be a very busy day for everyone.
I made the following Green Smoothie today - Victoria Boutenko wrote about the man who drinks this daily. He went from 400lbs to 17l lbs in 1 year! His name is Clent Manich and you can check him out on the 'net.
big handful of mixed greens
big handful of spinach
4 leaves of kale
4 leaves of collards
1/4 bunch parsley
1/4 bunch of dandelion greens
handful of beet greens
1 banana
1 large tomato or 2 medium
1/2 avocado
1/2 each lemon & lime (juice) I use it all except the rind and I even use a tiny bit of that sometimes
1 apple
4 large strawberries
2 Tbsp ground flax seed
2 cups pure or filtered water
1 cup ice
I also added stevia and mango and raspberries throughout the day to sweeten it up a bit. This filled the vita-mix completely and this is all I had today. It filled me beautifully.

11-18-2009, 11:46 PM
Wow, that is a smoothie on steroids! Was it tasty? Some odd combinations there.
B: Well I made a batch of onion bread and have been noshing on it all day. it is pretty much AMAZING. My two raw daughters didn't care for it much, but my two younger kids liked it. I had about three pieces for breakfast!
L: More onion bread with cheddar cheeze sauce, spinach, and tomato.Tangerine. Lemon coconut cookie, I got the recipe on here somewhere and it is the BEST raw cookie I have had yet. Light and chewy and delicious! NO way was it "raw" tasting.
S: The last of the chili with onion dip and one last piece of onion bread! The rest went in the freezer for our Thanksgiving trip.

hello all,
Up late again. I got some more shifts thankfully..but they're mixing up my sleep habits. Huge emotional detox going on. I was PHYSICALLY angry for about 2 hours tonight. I have never felt this way before, it's the only way to describe it. I read, played on the computer, ran up and down the stairs in my apartment building, had a cold shower. FINALLY I just sat and talked to hubby. And we came to the route of why my destructive behaviour had resurfaced lately. I feel HEAPS better!
Food for today: ( I actually slept straight from 2am to 2 pm today, not intentional at all! And I'm still tired :/)
B: 1/2 head rapini greens blended with 3 clementines
L: 3 apples blended into sauce
S: apples and mixed nuts
D: huge clementine cravings! I just polished off at least 20 of them haha tiny things though, 1" across. love em!
I also got a fantastic strength routine in today!

Hi all, I missed you guys, my 'puter had a virus and I was without for a whole month and since I wasnt able to read all your encouraging thoughts I slipped up. BTW what the heck with PMS symptoms??? Case in point, I know that when you eat SAD you crave more because of the addiction and all but I swear the last 3 days I've been so out of control, eating everything salty/sweet/crunchy/creamy I could find and because I was under the thick cloud of SAD I would not settle for RAW, like someone else had taken over my conscienceness:eek:. And a few weeks ago I had such bad gas (TMI:o) that I felt incapacitated for 9 days straight, went to my mainstream doctor, not holistic, and explained how I was trying to go RAW and slipped and even she told me to go back to RAW. So on a super positive note, I woke up feeling so energized, alive and clear that I seized the moment and made a new commitement, I realize its already DAY 19 but I so want to jump in and bond with my peoples:D.
B-orange, guava
L-green salad with butter/red leaf/iceberg lettuce, onions, sprouted sunflower seeds and homemade dressing
D-zucchini pasta with homemade pesto
and Im going to throw together some dates, nuts and sea salt in case the cravings hit
Before I go let me ask, what do you crave and how have you overcome it through RAW?

way to go clover! Here's a speedy raw recovery from your SAD fest!
Slept poorly, and horrid BM this morning, my body is trying to get rid of the SAD stuff I ate a bit a go as fast as possible. So uncomfortable!
Pretty much all fruit today.
B: litre of green smoothie, just 4 apples and 6 cups of baby spinach, very soothing on my tummy.
L: 5 small apples
S: 2 red bananas ( MY FIRST!)
Exercise so far is just 20 min light aerobics to wake me up this morning, then a took a 20 min detour to go to the grocery. After my "angry burst of energy" last night, the backs of my knees are so stiff and sore. That'll teach me to run full kilt up seven flights of stairs repeatedly without warming up!
Great news though! A Metro grocery has opened literally at my doorstep! if I go out the back way of my building I walk right into the store parking lot haha I went in today, and OMG! It's like a whole foods..but cheaper! They have a huge wall of organic greens..so much exotic fruit, and everything just looks so delicious! I only spent 20, tight budget, but EEP! I got two flats of clementines, 1 GIANT bunch of organic collards (only 1.99!!!!), 10lbs of beets, 1 big bunch of red bananas, and a gigantic dragon fruit. never had one before, I am very excited!
I'm off to work *lazy hoorah* my mind is so energetic and alive, but my body just wants to rest! I'm starting to wish I hasn't taken on today's shift...
oh well!
have a great night everyone!

Clover and Revdrcyn! Glad to see you back. Cyn, we enjoyed those coconuts more than I can say. I even posted about how coconut water cleared up a headache!
B: Green smoothie with two bananas and spinach.
L: I made a Greek buffet for our homeschool group as we are studying Greek history, and I made sure there were some tasty raw items there. From the buffet I had olives, almonds, figs, and clementines. To that I added the last of some corn chips and onion dip. I had the tiniest taste of some un-raw hummus, and now I am determined to make some. I had hummus once before a long time ago and didn't like it, but obviously my tastes have changed! So that is on the menu for later.

Evening everyone! Hope you had a great day!
Fantastic run this morning! My sprints can go for longer and my rest periods are shorter! So happy! I went to the market as well, 22lbs of gala apples and 28 lbs of bosc pears! Lots of fun carrying them home, glad I brought my backpack rather than just bags this time!
B: quart of green smoothie. 6 cups of baby spinach, 2.5 cups of fresh celery juice, and chips of frozen mint and parsley juice. Good and filling, really cleared my mind today too. I feel very "present" today.
L: 5 gala apples
D: 5 more apples so far, probably 5-8 more in a bit.
S: 1 red banana this morning, HAD to eat after my run and before going to market, or else I'd have bought much much more than I had!
I'm sort of mono-mealing at the moment. Last two nights in a row I've had 20-30 clementines for dinner. I feel much better in the mornings and my dry skin is GONE. love it!
I also did a half hour on my wii and 20 minute upper body strength workout.
Tomorrow I plan on mono eating melons. I've got a bunch of honeydews and cantaloupes all set!

Did very well today and simply had a huge Green Smoothie which I divided into two meals. That's all I had. Now I am feeling some hunger pangs but it is 11p.m. and I am going to bed. My mind was off food most of the day as I was distracted with making CD's for my car. I LOVE music.
Green Smoothie had this in it: Water, banana, mango, grapes, kale & parsley, spinach, lemon and stevia. There might have been 1 more item - a green of some sort, but I can't remember. I'll tell you one thing - so far raw hasn't helped my memory.:(

B: Green smoothie with spinach, banana, orange, and a couple of dates.
L: "leftovers from yesterday" of salad, hummus, onion bread, chick-un fingers, and celery. Plus some marinated mushrooms
S: We went to a potluck of "breakfast for supper." My lovely daughter made a big fruit salad plus some raw blueberry flaxseed pancakes that were SO delicious. But boy do I have gas now. I eat a lot of flax so I think it must be from the melon in the salad. Fermenting away, bubble bubble bubble.

Afternoon everyone,
Yesterday was all mono-meals. Loving this way of eating! All pears and apples, with a small snack of almonds in between my two main meals.
So far today, PEARS! Lots and lots of pears!!
Great run this morning, some light muscle training as well.
I plan on on having and mono-meal of apples when I get off work tonight, or gigantic salad with some clementine juice over top of it. yum!
*EDIT*
Oh! And I lost a pound! I am now back at 141. I was at 142, then started adding a teensy pinch of salt on my dinner salad, BAD MISTAKE. I don't even like salt, never have...but I wanted some..still can't figure it out! It bothered up my digestion and caused some serious bloating. I went up to 148!! It's been almost three weeks now since i had salt, and FINALLY I feel like it's all out of my system! Hooray!

I hope everyone had a great holiday. I suppose there are a lot of American members here, hence the silence on this thread!
So this little Canadian has had a good day!
Still mono-mealing!
B: 5 pears
L: 12 apples
D: 24 clementines
S: 3 tomatos and a large cucumber, with a clementine squeezed over it.
About 2600 calories for today. I realized I was under eating a wee bit, so I'll be logging my calories for a few weeks to get back into the swing of things. Loving the fruit too!
I feel ALIVE. My running is going great! I hadn't run for three months before November, purely cycling. I cannot believe that I haven't even felt any pain or soreness in my legs or mid-section. I've been doing an hour run everyother morning, just under a month now, and already I can do the lap of my park with only three, 30 foot rest periods! Last year it took me almost a month and a half to run JUST that 30 foot span. And even then my legs hurt so much during recovery I could barely walk up my stairs. Geeze...
I'm off to dream of tomorrow clementines! 2.99 for five pounds at my local grocery right now...I'm stalking up before my shift!
Have a great night everyone!

so in addition to the pkg of mango today, i had:
1 pineapple

bag baby carrots with dill dip from cookbook
i got a headache this evening...thought it might be dehydration so drank a bunch of water...wondering how long is the detox period from "a lot of raw" to "100% raw"- perhaps it was a detox headache?

1 pkg dates
5 oranges
1 lb romaine lettuce + caesar dressing from the cookbook
1 pkg dried mango
3 cups pineapple juice
2 boxes raisins, 2 mini-bowls almond butter and honey
i feel stuffed but i think my blood sugar is still dropping (insulin miscalculation earlier). bummer...
good night!

hello, dec 27-day 27 for some; i think it is like day 9 for me. :)
here is what i ate today:
1 stuffed mushroom cap- too salty for my taste
walnut-mushroom loaf mixed with tomatoes, braggs, and 1 lb romaine lettuce- i think the portabella taste is just too strong for me
1 pkg dried pineapple
2 boxes raisins mixed with almond butter and honey
i feel really "heavy" with this high consumption of fat. i prefer the "lighter" feeling of not consuming fats, BUT it is hard to eat the 1 lb of romaine each day without some kind of dressing. smoothies (fruit w/ the lettuce) don't seem to work too well for me, blood-sugar-wise. i feel like i am just taking some time to try out the different recipes to see what fits me and what doesn't. then perhaps get into more of a routine.
interestingly, with more "good" fat consumption than previously, i am not craving hamburgers and pizza anymore. i wonder if a person totally eliminated the excess fats (just got it from fruits and veggies), and their bodies got used to it, if they would eventually get past the physical craving for fats?
good night.
