Stuck to it today, even though a store bought, very SAD pastry item was calling my name.

NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS HEALTHY (RAW) FEELS!!!

I've stayed on with what I planned earlier, but now it's bedtime and I'm a little hungry. I think I'll drink some water and maybe a cup of hot tea.

Night night.

I had a nice relaxing day. Cleaned, knit, and did yoga. I got a fantastic amount and quality of sleep, I feel pretty good.

Today:

-spinach and red pepper salad for breaky

-watermelon afterwards

- salad with red cabbage, green and red peppers, and tomato.

other snacks included black berries, apples, a nectarine, bananas, and a small amount of pumpkin seeds (last of the supply :( )

I blended the red cabbage with olive oil and used it as a creamy dressing on my crunchy dinner salad, it was the most beautiful purple I have ever seen! Even more so then blended blueberries..it blew me away!

I am still absolutely freezing though! I spent a lot of my day off today sitting on the sunny spot under the window with my cat reading. I even had my blankets with me...still quite chilly though.

Even with that though, I am so looking forward to the coming autumn. It is the most sensual season in my opinion. Beauty and change everywhere, so crisp. love it!

night everyone!

B/L: Green smoothie with kale, banana, and a plum
Snack at work: a few prunes and a handful of sunflower seeds
Supper" Basil Pesto Pizza
I am getting ready to watch a movie, and a lara bar is calling my name.

Also tonight I made a raw pumpkin pie to have tomorrow with raw ice cream. The preview taste I had of it is SCRUMPTIOUS. From Alissa's book.

All veggie day today.

Green smoothie for breakfast

Salad of sprouted soy beans, spinach and oil for lunch, with a side of green beans.

Dinner is a huge crunchy salad; broccoli, red pepper, celery, lots of carrot, and tomato. Hubby also surprised me by making the most delicious dressing for it! He made a vinaigrette with black berries, apple, and ginger...soooo good!

I may have fruit later, but I'm not that hungry today. Sneezing a LOT though, and some sinus pressure, detox I think!

Tomorrow will be a GREAT day. I am doing a 4-6 hour bike ride through a valley, along a river, then as far alongside a lake as I can go! It will be wonderful! I just need to plan what to bring for refueling....

night all!

I woke up with a tummy flu bug today that I caught from my daughter. Took four activated charcoal capsules. Didn't think they would stay down, but they did and soon the worst of the tummy symptoms were gone. Never did throw up (I usually don't) but I had a fever and body aches and spent the day sleeping. Feeling much better, so I hope I can sleep tonight! So anyway, my total consumtion for the day was......a couple of sips of water. That's it!

Had a couple of "off" days, I think due to the fact that baby is nursing much more than normal due to teething...had me tired and losing weight and in need of something heavier...

Back on track though, there is no food better than bananas after all...why did I ever think there might be??

Pretty great day today.

I got up early and went for one of my long rides. Four and a half hours this time, I tried to go further but my body just said "NO.", so I turned around and headed home.

Green smoothie of collards, blackberries and a banana for breakfast.

Trail ride lunch was three collard leaf wrap with my sprout/red pepper "hummus" spread, an apple, and some carrots.

and right now I am recovery with a huge salad! green beans, red cabbage, spinach, romaine lettuce, and blackberry dressing.

A picked a few apples along the trail so I'll have those later, probably a banana and berry smoothie as well. We are shamefully low on fruit right now, and it is all I crave with my muscles so sore right now!

I took a few pictures from the trail, and one of my awsome salad I am currently enjoying.

have a good day everyone!

Havent posted in a few days, Fri and Sat are always busy but I've been doing good but in all honesty forgot what I had. I've been asked by a few more friends what RAW means and they listen with open ears, I love spreading the word, it solidifies in me how great it is. Anyhow, short and sweet today....gotta go....RAWK on!!!!:D

Didn't see a day 19, hope I am not just blind. With the two days I have had at work it would be just the way my life has been going lately!

I normally enjoy my job and don't find it stressful (believe it or not) but I have a new co-worker who is very abrasive and hard to get along with. Yesterday I had had it up to here with her! Today I got a bunch of officers mad at me because I told one inmate I would possibly need to screen him for swine flu, then apparently he announced this to the world and got everyone riled up (according to the officers.....I didn't notice any riots going on). I told the sargeant that I cannot stick a swab five inches up someone's nose and not tell them why! BROTHER. They are all adults but sure don't act like it sometimes.

Another simple food day. It bothers me less and less as time goes on not to have something prepared, but every once in awhile I do get a craving.
B: Green smoothie of red leaf lettuce and bananas.
L: Salad of tomatoes, cucumber, and avocado with vinaigrette dressing. A few prunes.
S: A slice of leftover pumpkin pie. I also made the walnut mushroom loaf from Alissa's book, though it is definitely not a loaf, more of a creamy pate. I had a couple of spoonfuls (delicious) and begged my daughters to put some crackers into the dehydrator so I can have this on some crackers at work tomorrow. We will see how persuasive I am.

I am totally beat. I have only gotten around 5 hours of sleep a night for the last three nights so I am hitting the hay very early tonight.

Today was an absolutely hungry day!

Green smoothie for breakfast with sliced apple dipped in raw honey.

Then I brought an apple, a pear, and carrots along with me to the party. Silly me, I now realize one needs to be a heck of a lot more prepared when going to "un-raw" get togethers. We went out before the party and I ate my "supply" before we even got there....

The only food was take-out chines food and birthday cake. I felt so darn hungry I was shaking and freezing. But I stuck to it, not a single temptation! My parents, hubby, and sister were very supportive, kept bringing me warm green tea to soothe my stomach. The party lasted a LOT longer than expected...

Got home, ate 3 bananas, an apple, and just finished a smallish salad. Still a little shakie, but getting better!

I'll have a few more peaches and apples before bed.

night all!

I'm in Puerto Rico today and tomorrow - tomorrow night we leave on a cruise for St. Thomas, St. Lucia, Barbados, etc.

Today is day 41 at 100% raw!!! It was so easy today with all the fruit here. The bananas are huge and they taste like honey -- It has been about 20 year since my last visit, and back then I was neither raw nor vegan so I probably did not notice the bananas.

Bananas -- lots of them
Zucchini Bread (brought with me on trip)
2 large green salads with all kinds of veggies
Smoothie - found a juice bar a block from the hotel
Corn "tortilla" wrap (brought with me on trip)
Oranges
Mango
Cashews
Another salad

Will continue to report in as internet access allows!

strawberry banana crepe with vanilla durian pudding (I liked this MUCH better!!!)
apple pie lara bar (bleck... I thought it tasted really nasty)
slice of onion bread topped with mustard, tomato & spinach X 2
honey crisp apple
grapes

This is the first time I've ever eaten the famous onion bread and I can safely say that if I were marooned on a desert island with nothing but onion bread to eat, I would be more than satisfied.

Hi all, I missed yesterday:p Today has been weird, I FORCED myself out of bed at 8:30, normally up and at 'em around 7, felt super dizzy, bumping into walls but managed to straighten living room, went grocery shopping and when I got home was so exhausted that I fell asleep after lunch.
For lunch I ate a salad and soy chicken patty:eek:, I started missing chicken so I opted for the soy version, I know there are abundant recipes, like mock chicken salad but I was lazy and I think mentally I was exhausted also. Even right now at 5ish pm I feel like going back to bed. Maybe I'm coming down with something, should know by tomorrow. Hope everyone is holding up and staying positive.

Literally all I have had today is apples and raw honey...

I feel so congested and tense. I think it IS a cold, as hubby and my father have a cold as well. This afternoon noon at work I felt nausuas at the simple thought of eating the salad I brought, so I munched on my apple.

Since I got home we've both just been curled up together watching videos and snacking. I have a bowl of apples and some raw honey to dip them in.

The only thing I c an think of to my need for apples and honey is the vitamin C, potassium, and enzymes.

Last night I was close to tears because all I could think of was how much needed to eat a banana..or five. I'd gone most of the day without much food, and we haven't bought bananas for a while now...

Has anyone else had intense cravings like this so far? and does anyone know if prolonged nausea/vomiting can deplete potassium levels? Before my fasting/going raw I continuously could not keep food down 50% of the time for almost a year. Since I began this journey potassium rich foods have been my biggest physical craving...

I'm off to research a bit and warm up some more.

Hello, everyone, long day at work then off to a small church group supper. The menu was up to me so I chose chef salad. :D

B: Green smoothie of banana, peach and spinach
L: Mushroom walnut pate with cucumbers, tomato and carrots
S: Big salad with all kinds of great raw ingredients and olive oil dressing. Raw peach crisp, which was RAWSOME, made by my daughter.

I am stuffed!

If I eat another banana I am going to turn into some kind of Primate other than human . . .

I am on a cruise and the food choices are horrible. Fortunately, I brought an entire suitcase full of nut butter, coconut oil (it was solid at the time, thank goodness), breads and crackers, granola, etc.

Today:

Bananas - probably a dozen
3 large green salads
3 fruit plates
buckwheat crackers
flax crackers
brownie (so happy I made these and brought them!)
pears
oranges

I'm headed for St. Thomas - hope to have some amazing fruit there tomorrow.

Have a good night!

Another water fast day for me. My plan is to do Mondays and Thurdays. Using the principles of EatStopEat by Brad Pilon, fast two days a week for weight loss and one day a week for maintenance, plus overall improvement of health, especialy insulin sensitivity, which I really need.

I feel good and worked hard in my kitchen all afternoon, cleaning, not cooking! Now off to my daughter's volleyball game.

All apples and raw honey again today, plus a pear..

I now crave greens and olive oil, I NEED IT, and I intend to make a huge salad after this post.

Whole body strength training this morning. It felt wonderful. I did intervals of jump rope with strength repetitions. My arms felt very strong today, the muscle showing is fantastic! Tomorrow I'll be taking my bike to work with me and head straight to the beach. My goal is 15-20 kilometres :).

And then my good mood was smashed when my boss called and informed me I was supposed to be in two hours earlier. I'd taken home the wrong week's schedule. I felt horrible, I hate to let people down.

All's well now at least. My sniffles are backing off and I don't feel as weighed now.

I'm going to try to eat very light tomorrow and wednesday, then do a water fast on thursday. My eating pattern has been disrupted these past few days, and my digestive system seems to be getting confused.

Overall so far so good! I too cannot believe this "challenge" has gone by so fast!

Night all!

How do you make a Raw Vegan happy? Buy her a lovely pair of coconuts (see photo below)! I bought these fresh off the tree in St. Thomas this afternoon, and this evening, our cruise-ship waiter opened one up for me and brought me the water and the meat. The best dinner so far on this trip. Of course the people at my table thought I was an alien!

Okay, so I'm keeping track here and in my blog. I tried starting yesterday, but blew that sky high. I also started fasting on the 20th, but realized that I was just doing a fast because I was afraid to start eating RAW. But I am trying to overcome that fear and therefore am posting here.

Today, I had my first green smoothie. It had organic spinach, grapes, peaches, and frozen strawberries with pure water.

For lunch I'm about to have a veggie salad (mixed greens, green, red, yellow peppers, cucumber, carrots, and celery)with a lemon, olive oil, sea salt and pepper dressing that I made.

Snack: Prana bar (http://www.foodservicedirect.com/product.cfm/p/170711/Prana-Bar-Organic-Cashew-Almond-Bar-1.7-Ounce.htm) that I bought at my local New Pioneer Co-op (http://www.newpi.com/). I'm so glad I'm a member there. They also have some living chocolate cookies thingys I'm going to give a try there tomorrow. I realized I'm going to need a snack at work just in case. I know there's going to be a birthday on Friday and while others are feasting, I don't want to be tempted.

I'm planning a fruit salad for dinner, but we'll have to see about that when I get home. I'll post my progress later.

Dinner: A pear and a nectarine. I also snacked on some GoRaw chocolate super cookies.

Cyn, you are amazing, staying raw on a CRUISE! I hope to go on a RAW cruise someday....otherwise....I don't know if I would want to do it.

Anyway.....still detoxing and feeling punk. Ugh.
B: Never had my green smoothie today. Just realized that! I had some crackers fresh out of the dehydrator. Almond onion carrot delicious.
L: Sunny pate from Alissa's book, on a nori roll with mushrooms.
S: Raw tomato soup with crackers. Very tiny portion, just not hungry,
Just now I ate a medjool date and plan to make some RP brownies for my daughters to take on their trips. One is going to a volleyball tournament and one is going to ride in an equestrian event. I get to stay home and work with a new co-worker whose mission in life seems to be to make my life miserable. I shall attempt to heap burning coals of kindness on her head instead.

Must be the WEEKEND....no-one around!

B: Nothing
L: A few raw crackers with sunny pate and marinated cauliflower with some fresh cherry tomatoes. Some of Alissa's Walnut Fudge for dessert. :D
S: Will probably have more of the same. It was DELISH.

I work this weekend. Have a great weekend everyone!

So far today:
grapefruit juice
mango
2 slices onion bread w/tomato & mustard
medjool dates
2 big slices raw pizza (tomato sauce, marinated veggies & "bacon" cheddar cheeze sauce)
banana ice cream w/"caramel" sauce (blended medjool dates - not quite as good as I thought it would be)

Breakfast:

big bowl of chopped bananas, apples, and red grapes

Lunch:

Sunflower seeds, pear, more bananas, peaches, cucumbers, ACV.

Dinner/snacking:

Almonds, bananas (AGAIN), probably some more fruit before bed

Pretty much just nuts, seeds, and fruits today. I was having potassium cravings and needed heavier foods. I feel much better for it though.

I checked out my local health food store (it's been two three months since we moved here, and this store is a five minute walk from me..and I finally checked it out!). I am so glad I did! I got raw sunnies, whole flax seeds, AVC with the mother (This was only THREE DOLLARS for a decent sized bottle *squeel*), and some spirulina powder! All were fantastic prices. So happy..

I'm going to make a green smoothie with collards, spirulina, banana, and grapes for tomorrow breakfast. I am excited to see how my body reacts to the new introduction!

Went on two walk to the park today, one b myself to watch the squirrels play, and another one after dinner with hubby just to wind down.

back to work for the weekend!

Night all.

No one's around again this weekend, I hope everyone else is doing well and sticking to the challenge!

Nice hour long walk around the park today observing wildlife before work.

B: Green smoothie; 2 cups spinach, 1 cup grapes, 1/2 cup strawberries, 1 banana, 1 tsp spirulina powder. SO GOOD!

L: Almonds and water

Snacks: A banana and peach right before I left for work. Almonds right after work, then we went to visit my parents over dessert. They had ice cream, but my hubby surprised me with a banana and berry sorbet to bring along! heavenly...

Dinner: 1 head romaine, 1 large stock of green onion, 1 red pepper, half a head of celery, olive oil and raw ACV.

Fairly light day today, on the go a lot which was great. It's only a few days into the spirulina powder and I am already convinced of it's powers! My skin is getting much much much clearer, I don't get truly hungry for about 3-4 hours afterwards, and I get a huge surge of energy each night! So glad I bought it.

Exercise has been good as well. I realized the other day that I have been focused completely on cycling, then I realized I cannot ride my bike during the winter in my area. I LOVE to run, but have not tried seriously in almost a year. I've decided to start doing my morning walks before work 3-4 times a week, and progress back to running.

Best to everyone else! I can't believe the "challenge" is almost up. I for one and sticking with 100% after this, feel way too darn good!

morning all!

So far today:

B: Green smoothie; banana, grapes, a couple berries, spinach, spirulina powder.

Snack: Banana and apple.

Lunch for work later: Mix of raw pumpkins seeds, sunflower seeds, and almonds.

Dinner plan for later tonight: Huge crunchy salad; head of purple cabbage, 1 cucumber, 1 stock green onion, 2-3 carrots, olive oil and ACV.

Probably another apple or more carrots if I get hungry after dinner or right after work.

I had my walk this morning as well. I was planning on staying it and doing a light strength routine, because it was/is pouring down and freezing out. I just really wanted to be outside though, which was a fantastic idea! I love going to the park and being the only person there, so silent and beautiful!

I'm off to work!

have a great day everyone!

*edit*

So...I forgot my lunch! A woman tried to force an apple on me, saying that I would go into 'CRISIS MODE!!! and get super fat!" if I missed lunch. jeese...I'd had breakfast three hours earlier, and I was off work in just another few hours, I was not going to starve. So i got to listen to her going on and on about how I need to get my iron checked because I'm vegan...and how she thinks cold vegetables are inedible...some people *eye rolls*

I had my delicious dinner salad, but then I grazed and took out my entire banana supply! Off to the grocery in the morning!

Hi! I am going to do this. 30 days, here I come!! Thanks for letting me start on the 28th, at first I was going to wait until Oct. 1, but then I thought, why put off what I could do today?

Why I am doing this: I have always wanted to be 100% raw to experience the health and life changes and benefits. As I recently completed a cleanse, I feel in a good position to start both physically and mentially. And most importantly, now that I have found this forum, I know I have the support to do it. So here I go! Thanks everyone!

Day 1 is starting off excellently! Breakfast was a green juice, mid-morning snack of banana. Lunch was mock salmon pate (sunflower seed/almond paté) wrapped in nori, mesclun salad with pear and strawberries. Mid-afternoon snack of 1/2 avocado with tomato/cilantro salsa, and a few dates.

Yes, I like to eat, but most importantly, I like to prepare food. I think food preparation of raw recipes is tons of fun. And shopping for food is fun! Look at all those beautiful veggies and fruit in the market! Looking forward to this month, thanks for reading.

I didn't get on the computer much over the weekend so I didn't get to post my daily journal, however, suffice it to say that I was mostly...very high...85-95% (pick one) raw.

9/28

Breakfast:
Coffee/Agave (I'm going to switch my morning warm drink to Miso starting tomorrow as I transition toward my 10/1 start date)
Green Smoothie Sorbet
2 Caramel Coconut Cookies (raw, not sure where I got the recipe)

Snack:
Veggie Soup (still cleaning out that freezer)

Lunch:
OMG, DON'T ASK!!! I was all set to have a beautiful arugula salad when I opened my fridge and found my brand new greens in the very back of the fridge and TOTALLY FROZEN. Not having the necessary components to turn that into a green smoothie, I bailed on the whole idea and took my DH to lunch where I consumed a huge vegetarian burrito. Ugh! Ok, ok, no regrets...moving on.

Snack:
2 raw cookies

Dinner:
Handful of Brazil nuts

Soaked oatmeal, 5 small bananas, raw cacao powder, raw cacao nibs

For lunch I feel like having a pineapple smoothie with spinach and cucumber
For snack I might have watermelon

And feel like having a cabbage salad for supper with greens

Good raw day to everyone!

so today has been interesting so far,

Day off work again today, so I've been fairly relaxed. Slept in, then went and walked to the post office and grocery.

I got five or so bunches of bananas, coconut, some asian pears, dandelion greens, pecans, red leaf lettuce, and cucumbers. I'm going to do some research on bananas today to figure out my need for them lately! I did start my friendly time of the month today, so it COULD just be that, but this is getting insane. I've gone through four whole bunches since friday. sheesh...

Breakfast (just had this now, my stomach has had my usual "sinking" feeling I get around this time, my walk to the store finally eased it enough for me to eat):

Huge green smoothie; 4 and a half cups of baby spinach, 2 bananas, 1 cup of grapes, 1 tsp spirulina.

Lunch: I'm planning on munching on bananas and pecans

Dinner: finish off my salad I couldn't finish last night, and mix it with some more greens and tomatoes

Snacks: will probably be bananas, cucumbers and AVC, and/or apples.

I've lost 4 more pounds as well, even with the bloating.

Didn't eat much last night after my lunch disaster. I did make a wonderful concoction of granny smith apples, raisins, walnuts, oj, agave and cinnamon to go into the dehydrator overnight. OMG, I was greeted this morning with the most wonderful smell of apple cobbler! On the upside, after nine days raw I've lost 6.4 lbs.; I can live with that!

Breakfast:
Apple Stuff

Snack:
Green Sorbet

Lunch:
Another lunch disaster for me. I'm not even going to post it. But I've got Marinated Portobella Mushrooms in the dehydrator and fresh greens with all the fixins' necessary for a great salad for dinner.

Snack:
2 Caramel Coconut Cookies (raw)

Dinner:
Marinated Portobella Mushroom stuffed with Avocado & Tomato
Mixed Greens & Alfalfa Sprouts with Orgranic non-raw dressing
Orange Juice

Late Night Snack:

I ate as many as I wanted, SO GOOD, and that was my supper.

Great day!

Breakfast of banana and tea.

Lunch of red cabbage-mesclun-pignoli salad and asparagus with mock salmon paté (sunflower seeds, almonds, onion, dill, carrot). Pear for a snack.

And dinner was divine - zucchini angel hair pasta with marinara sauce. Dessert of strawberries and almond cream. I grated vanilla bean into the almond cream, and that was the best smell my nose has ever experienced!

I have started to detox, the top of my tongue is white. I am surprised, because I just finished a 7 day cleanse in August, so I did not think I had sullied myself so quickly. I guess little bits add up over the days!

I suppose a thirty day challange is what you make it. I will set my guildlines and hang on for the ride. Go with the flow but stear for rocks. What are the big bolders in the river you may ask? Well... SUGAR that is a big one, next is caffine that is a little one. I will take my thirty day challange one day at a time and sometimes in the beginning i may have to take it one moment at a time. I know that the pysical sugar cravings will supside with in a few days and that I can side track them with a bit of dried fruit, lots of greens and l-glutamine. Any other ideas out there for how to beet sugar cravings? What I am mostly worried about is the mental addition to sugar. Once the physical additiction has passed my mind will still think that sweets are satisfying. I have been binge eating, mostly sweets, one week before my period or when I am axious. Ironicly I have noticed that sweets cause more anxiety, like homeopathy and the law of simalers. I also keep telling my self that I don't have to be raw forever just right now. I know that this way of eating resonates in my heart, it is what I need to do right now to be my best and to heal. Writing every day will be important, and I promise to keep my future postings much shorter. In October of 2007 I compleated a 30 day challange. It was wonderful. The changes in my body, my health, my vibrancy were amazing. I want to be in that place/space again. I want to live a living foods life for the month of October 2009.

SUGAR that is a big one.

Me toooo! I have just ordered raw chocolate and raw cocoa. Honey is a big thing for me to cut down on too!!!

I am hoping I will make it through the month. I agree with the taking it a few days at a time. I might make a few moments at a time cause a moment without the things I am avoiding seems easy where a day seems like forever sometimes!

I hope everyone else is revved up for the challenge again. I've decided to simply carry on from the last challenge.

Today so far is my morning green smoothie; 2 small bananas, big bunch of dandelion, small apple, 1/2 cup mixed berries, 1 tsp spirulina.

I'm planning on bringing a smoothie of apple, cabbage, and cinnamon to work for lunch, and another green smoothie for dinner.

SOMETHING is going on with my digestive system, so I am taking things very easy.

Once the sun is up (in about 20 minutes!), I'll be donning my winter wear and heading to the park. It just hit 5' C here....with a high of 12 today, I'll be needing those mitts! At least I'll be a few degrees warming in the freezers at work afterwards!

Also, anyone had issues with the spiciness of spirulina? I love the flavour and smell, but it's that overall spiciness that gets me. So far berries are the only thing that cover it while preserving the smell/flavour. I can use two bananas and an apple and nothing!

Here's to a great autumn afternoon!

Hello all, this is my first 30 day challenge and I'm really excited. I need this, and I want this.

So far this morning: smoothie with kale, frozen raspberries, coconut oil, chia seeds, banana and probiotics. It was huge!

Food I have with me to nourish throughout the day: a small watermelon, two apples, two kiwi, raw almonds, jicima, carrot sticks, flax crackers and dehydrated salty beets. I don't intend to eat it all, but those are my options for the rest of the day ;)

Edit: It is now 4 p.m. and I've gotten through an apple, two kiwi, half a watermelon, a few handfuls of almonds, and I'm about to snack a few flax crackers. I'm off to yoga in a few hours and then bed straight after, so that should do me for the day!

I'm substituting a cup of miso for my morning coffee (starting tomorrow 'cuz I forgot at o'dark hundred that this was 10/1!) and there are a few other vegan, non-raw accompaniments that I'm not going to stress out over like a litte hummus (I don't like raw hummus) or non-raw olives.

My goals are to stay 100% raw this month, keep my glycemic load between 30 & 60, get my blood sugar down under 100 for fasting glucose (I don't take meds, currently around 108-112), and go to sleep every night at 10pm, so I can start hitting the gym in the mornings again.

Hey everyone!

Been eating raw the past 3 weeks, thought I'd register here, so lets take it up a notch now.

Started the day with a smoothie of 3 bananas, 1 stalk celery, lots of romaine lettuce leaves (red and green), 1/3 cucumber and parsley; then had later onto the day handful of almonds and walnuts all soaked, a dried fig, half of a mature coconut or so (we don't have access to those young thai coconuts in here, not that I know of anyway), another smoothie with 2 cups frozen mixed berries unsweetened with half a banana and lots of lettuce leaves along with some springs of parsley; big salad of lettuce, beetroot, cucumber, red bell pepper, chinese cabbage, red cabbage.

I think I'm going to give it a try this month... though I shouldn't count today (as my kitchen is empty). I had frozen strawberries and blueberries for breakfast (and, of course, one of the last blueberries splashed on my white shirt... {eyeroll}). For supper later, I think I'll have some nuts (cashews or macadamia), a beet (which has seen better *weeks*), and some lettuce and carrots.

... and, of course, a sorely needed trip to the farmers' market!

Hello,
I 've been wanting to go raw since May. I have definitely been eating much more raw meals which is great, but I am finally ready for a 100% commitment.
So excited to see how my life transforms in so many ways.
Today, I woke up late and skipped breakfast..:(
For lunch I had my all time favorite apple: honeycrisp..they have the perfect
texture, crunch and taste! A few figs, a banana, and few sprouted almonds.
For dinner I made an amazing salad of red cabbage, carrots, sprouts, cucumber, red onion and a squeeze of lemon juice. I also wrapped a portion in a piece of nori..yum. yum . yum.
I am also trying to go to bed earlier so I can meditate in the morning and walk 3.4 miles to work in the morning..the autumn mornings are perfect for that!

+++oh, does anyone know a recipe for a yogurt-like alternative???

BEST TO ALL!

I am finally ready for this 30 day challenge. I have been wanting to do this for awhile, but my biggest obstacle on the path to raw foods has been emotional eating. I am realizing that cooked comfort foods only make me feel good for a very short time and they make me feel bad long term. I am finding other activities that help me feel happy and relaxed. I ate all raw foods for two days so far! I am happy that I made time to take a walk and get some sun today.

Sorry for harshing your raw buzz, I'm outta here then.

You can eat whatever you want, but if you want to post on this thread, then you have to be trying or being 100% raw. It's okay to come back and post if you messed up, but not to tell about your mess up--just to get right back to trying to be 100%. If you say from the get go, "I'm going to eat pizza and ice cream, because I like them so much"--then you undermine the other posters.

Suddenly (especially if they like you) they may all start thinking, well, RAWorship lets himself have ______.

So, while it's kinda lame to not be able to bare all to your new challenge friends, it is intended to be a safe haven for those who need support and help staying 100% raw.

If you want to be public about being raw in October, but want to talk about _____ , then I'm sure you'll get comments on your RFT blog. Or you can just keep quiet about the hummus=p

Btw, yes, I'm in=)

Hi everyone! First of all, my first post was a general post answering the previous posts asking what is a 30 day challenge. It was not directed at any one person.

That's done.

B: The last helping of last night's caramel apple crisp. YUM. Even better the second day! :D

L: Eggless egg salad with a carrot or two.

S: Sunny pate with another carrot or two.

We did a lot of raw uncooking today so I nibbled at things here and there. I have calzones in the dehydrator now for lunch tomorrow. Really looking forward to those!

Hi everyone! So great to read so much motivation! My tip would be to not worry about the 30 days. Instead take it meal by meal. Choose to eat raw each time you are hungry, and the days will fly by! Another suggestion (that I find helps me) is when I am craving something cooked, I observe the craving - what am I doing at that moment, why do I want that particular food, and what do I think eating that food will do for me? It is an interesting experiment because I usually find that the food is tied to a memory or emotion that I seek. And understanding the root of the craving does cause it to pass because I realize I don't need that food to experience that emotion. Anyway, hope that is understandable! :)

B: banana with coconut oil, grapefruit juice
mid-am snack: large orange juice
lunch: carrot-celery-spinach-parsley juice, green salad with pumpkin and sunflower seeds
snack: apple
dinner: red cabbage-nori-carrot-onion salad, 2 bananas with hazlenut cream for dessert

Happy October everyone!

I'm in...

Day 2 for me. Was 99% Raw for 7 Months and without support it did not last. I also started rationalizing this and that, starting with a hot cup of tea and ending a few weeks later with several plates of Pasta. One thing (or bite) leads to another I guess.

See also my blog today about a very informative chapter I read about Osteoporosis which is what my Mom suffers from.

Yesterday and so far today I haven't been that hungry. Had a salad yesterday and will have a hot pepper salad today. Each morning I start with a Green Smoothie and in the everning just a piece of fruit.

I'm in!

I started yesterday on the forst as planned. I'm caring for a sick parent so yesterday I was not able to log on and update.

I was all over the place yesterday so I just ate quick and easy: 2 bananas, a pear, 2 apples, a plum and some raw almonds.

Happy day 2 everyone!

I hope the day is going well for you all that have joined in.

so far today:

B: Green smoothie; 1/2 bunch of dandelions, 2 bananas, 1/2 cup grapes, 1 tsp spirulina

Snack: Green smoothie; 1/4 bunch of dandelions (almost gone..shame :/ ), half cucumber, 1/2 cup mixed berries

Lunch: I plan on making a nice big smoothie of apples, cabbage, cinnamon, and perhaps some freshly grated ginger?

Dinner: Acorn squash and apple smoothie?

To explain all the smoothie; I am doing a smoothie fast now, and then transitioning to a 4 day juice fast over the weekend to work on some digestive issues that have come up.

I've had a great day so far, I feel fantastic, slept so wonderfully, was able to stay warmer (hooray for rotating greens!), and have had a productive morning thus far. Trip to the farmers market brought me 22 pounds of organic apples, 1 bushel of roma tomatos, 1 basket of baby sweet pears, butternut squash , and some small yet beautiful gourds to use for thanksgiving decorations. I'm meeting a friend downtown in my city today and plan on walking back, a hour and a half to two hour walk. I can't wait! Laundry is already done as well!

Does anyone else have thanksgiving plans for their raw challenge yet? I've got dinner with the in-laws coming here tomorrow, next weekend is with my parents where we will be going on a family camping trip!, then the weekend after THAT one will be my step-mum's family dinner. I've got a lot of planning to do! Tomorrows dinner at I least I'll be getting away with a squash and apple "soup" for my dinner.

Good day all!

So far so good! I felt great last night after 100% raw and yoga :) Part of my Rawctober challenge is also to do yoga five nights a week.

Anywho, today I've had a green smoothie with tons of kale, raspberries, chia seeds, coconut oil and probiotics. I'm about to have an apple and maybe a few almonds, then watermelon for lunch and carrots and jicima throughout the rest of the day. I've been drinking plenty of water too.

It's so great to see what others are eating throughout their days :)

Edit: what I actually had after my post yesterday: two apples, some flax crackers, carrot sticks, watermelon and almonds. Then after yoga I stopped at WF last night and got some dates, coconut curry seed crackers and some organic riesling :)

Hi, all. I woke up very queazy today...actually it started last night, with some diarrhea as well. I had to go to work at 5:30 and was fervently praying it didn't get worse! Well, it got better, so when I got off (early, it was an extra shift) I ate the calzone that was waiting for me in my dehydrator. :D I wrote a post about it, very good! I plan to eat the other half for supper and have a salad with that. And a couple of raw brownie bites. it is very cold here in Montana, so warm heavier foods really hit the spot! Just have to watch the amounts.

As for Thanksgiving, yes I have been thinking about it ALOT. We usually have TG with my husband's family. They are very UN understanding about special diets. I am already just planning to have dinner at home and then go visit them afterwards Ijust have to get hubby to agree). I already tried out raw pumpkin pie and everyone loved it. Gonna try the noasted turkey and some gravy. the cranberries will be easy. Other than that, I don't know what else. Maybe some calzones? :)

Today was lovely. I spent my morning at the farmer's market!
I was able to go early enough to beat the unbearable crowds and after shopping around, I procured a nice selection of apples. I love apples! And the ones I found were only $1 per pound!! $2 per pound for my beloved Honeycrisps. Tomorrow, I am going to go and pick up a
whole lot of various vegetables.. I think I may try to buy a few kale and cabbage plants.

I would love to be able to start an indoor fall/winter garden, as I live in NYC
and I don't have much outdoor space...except for a small balcony ledge...
I feel blessed to live a city where there is an abundance of greenmarkets/natural food shops and raw restaurants right at fingertips.

Thanks again Tguch, for the post yesterday on food and memory correlation and taking it raw meal by meal. Breaking down going raw to smaller "digestable" portions makes a huge difference with the shift.
I definitely will keep this in mind in the coming days and months. I am really spending much more time examining how my body feels when I become hungry and after I eat raw. This process, I think will also keep me focused, because, of course, I always feel pleasant after I eat raw foods.

Best to all of you!

I'm in for the October challenge. I'm a day late, but glad to jump in the challenge. I acutally am doing a 10 day Master Cleanse. So today I drank a mixture of tons of purified water, maple syrup, lemon juice, and cayenne pepper. I guess for the next 10 days if I'm able to stick with the MC my food menu will be the same. I plan to read all of your post so that I can stay motivated. Of course when the MC is over I plan to stay 100% raw. When ever I go back to SAD I feel like crap and my stomach hurts. Raw food is so great. I'm the only person I know personally who is going raw....so I'm looking forward from the support of all you raw foodies :)

Meal by meal seems to be doing the trick. Especially since it was first Friday potluck:eek:My husband loves going to them for socializing and the crowd is very pleasant to talk with. Tonight I dropped off the family and took the car to the library to study. I came back to the potluck later to socialize. This turned out to be a really good technique for staying on living foods. I stuck to the crudites plate and had two apples from the fruit basket. It is great to come home and not have a bloated overstuffed body, and I was still able to enjoy the company of good friends.:) Tomorrow I will fire up the dehydrator, we don't even own a grill ( My hubby has been a die hard vegetarian for 20 years! Today I ate a Green Smoothie, pomegranates, strawberries, zucchini pasta with tomato mango sauce, and a papaya fantasy smoothie (papaya blended w/ coconut water). It was hard to stick with this today. I get overwhelmed very easily since I have adrenal exhaustion and that is a trigger for emotional eating. I am really glad I decided to keep eating only raw foods though!
I also did a relaxing yoga video and a fun art project. I want to keep making time for yoga/exercise each day this month.

This is my first 100% raw weekend, so I'm a little nervous. I find that during the week, when I have a set schedule, it is easier to stay away from cooked foods. But really, I'm optimistic.

To be honest, I haven't committed to a 30 day challenge. However, I completed a 1 day challenge October 1st, turned it into a 2 day challenge yesterday, and would like to see where this leads. I know it sounds funny, but I didn't want to stress myself out about being raw!

If I want to see how far I can take this, I thought I might need a bit of a support system. So here I am! Day 3 is going to start up with a green smoothie, and probably end with some delicious raw cacao mousse, but I look forward to hearing how your challenges are going as well! Good luck!:D

EmpyreanDowser- that is a great way to go! It makes it easier to settle with mentally, and it becomes something to do from a day to day basis, rather then saying, "ok, after thirty days I can let loose a little". Why not just go all out as much as you everyday, and feel proud of however much you accomplish. Way to go!

Today so far has gone fairly well.

Apples and baby sweet pears this morning.

Did not take anything into work, just drank lots of water.

Pear/apple smoothie after work.

Dinner is a butternut squash "soup" that I've made for our thanksgiving dinner.

And my dessert is an apple and mixed berry sorbet that I just made and put in the freezer.

I am IN LOVE with these apples! They are simply little gala apples from a local orchard, but my gods! They taste like pure sweet candy! and I have 22 pounds of them!

I am very excited for tomorrow as well, juice fast start! Only four days, or more if I feel so inclined, but I cannot wait! I love the clarity..

I've been very positive and sociable with my new coworkers today which has made me ever MORE positive about this new job, I very much dislike feeling alienated. I have two shifts tomorrow, so I'll be lugging carrot and apple, maybe some beet juice as well, with me during my shifts.

Everything is just perfect! We are well into autumn now, I foraged yesterday and got a mini-bushel of mini apples haha they are perfectly ripe and tase wonderfully, but they are only about an inch wide. Perhaps a hybrid tree of sorts? It's been raining for days now, pouring at the moment, even some hail last night, but I am loving it!

Have a great night everyone!

It is so great to read of all of you doing well. Today I have had a bit of trouble counting my blessings, but... I am still eating well.
One banana,
Big salad,
a cup of tabbouleh salad and
a cup of warm from the vita mix oat groats and apple oatmeal.

I worked today, my 10 hour early shift. It still takes it out of me, even after four months raw. All I want to do is come home at 3:30 and take a hot bath and go to bed!

B: Green smoothie of kale and bananas. I made it a bit on the strong side with the kale.
L: Half a calzone (the last one. wah!) a cucumber tomato and avocado salad with some flax oil on it.
S: just had some flax crackers with some nut pate (the "mozarella" in the calzone recipe.....tastes nothing like mozarella but good in its own right) an apple, and a brownie bite.

Today was a good day for me. I made time to take a long walk in the sun and also to do some exercise. I ate a Green Smoothie (parsley, strawberries, banana, starfruit), zucchini pasta with tomato mango sauce, strawberries, lemon water, and a smoothie of papaya and coconut water. I am working on drinking water and taking a break whenever I feel like emotional eating. I realize its not really the food that I want as much as I want a break. I used to only allow myself to take a break if it was to eat because that was necessary. Now I realize that taking regular breaks just to rest or do something fun is very balancing for me and its much better for me than eating unhealthy food!

Hooray for today!

I feel splendid this morning!

I woke up early and got a good yoga session in, mostly sun salutation, oh how I missed them! I was a little sad that I have trouble even with some of the simpler poses, but I am determined to turn that around!

Today is a start of my juice fast! So very excited!!!

After my shower I'll be making some carrot juice, as well as some apple juice to take to work with me.

I've got a two shifts at work today, so during the hour break in between them I am going to run home, make some more apple juice with mint leaves! For my second shift tonight I am just going to go with water, lots and lots of water! It's after hours so I can keep my bottle with me out on the floor. Hooray for store renovations!

This is going into my third month raw now, and I do not know what to say! As you can tell I am usually pretty excited about everything...haha. It feels so good! One thing I did not imagine would happen is the change my 'needs" have gone through in accordance to the changing seasons. I am CRAVING cold squash, apples, roots, and acorns of all things! I'm just going with the flow on this one...

I had In-laws over last night, which normally is an mental ordeal but I must say we managed to have a wonderful, yet very opinionated, discussion on all things from nutrition to religion. FANTASTIC!

Have a fantastic day today everyone!

Hi=)

I am anticipating a very stressful day. I have a house showing (maybe my last) today at 3, we may accept an offer on our house today, i may drive out to see another house. The house we were planning to buy has been taken off the market inexplicably..so now I'm way freaked out..searching searching.

I am trying to trust in Great Spirit and being thankful for my vast opportunity right now and trusting that my path will meet my need..yet I feel very unsettled standing before the abyss like this.

One thing is for sure I will never be able to do it all in 30 days without being 100% raw!!

Okay now to the boring parts..
(no greens in the house atm!!!@$#% )
- pears, soft and green
-Jason's deli organic salad bar (probably)
-breakfast for dinner with romaine breakfast tacos filled with sausage seasoned mushrooms, Ani's scramble-warmed and some fresh spicy salsa

Yes, I'll have what she's having!! Hah. OKay, time to go prep for the tacos tonight.

Thanks for being my imaginary friends!=)

I had a rough day today, but stuck it out. I woke up and got a headache, shakes and nausea. I tried to make a pumpkin smoothie, couldn't finish it. I had to do some yard work and got dizzy . . . slept some and felt better, just focused on water and was finally able to eat a few almonds. I felt better for a few hours, but the nausea came back. I finally ate an apple and a larabar - I was really craving vegan cooked food but I used the larabar to replace, and I'm proud that I did. I'm finally feeling a bit better, but planning on just going to bed early tonight.

I had the most wonderful day today! I went to a Raw Foods Meetup Potluck which was a hike at the park where we learned about wild foods. I got to try wild Paw-Paws which are like a tropical fruit, but they grow in my area. I am excited to find some more soon. I also went to another park where I got 8 five-gallon containers of water fresh from the spring and took a longer hike.

It was a really fun relaxing day with no work and I realized how much easier it is to eat raw foods when I get to do what I love. I didn't have any cravings and it would have actually been unpleasant to eat cooked foods because I know it would prevent me from really feeling all the positive emotions today. I love when life is so good that I have no desire to numb myself with cooked foods.

Hi everyone! I introduced myself over on the "who are you" thread. I hope it's ok to jump in on Day 5. I had been planning to start my own 30 day raw challenge today, and then came across this forum yesterday, so I am excited! I have tried going raw before but I hope this time will be more successful :) I also just joined a raw vegan meetup group in my area so I can't wait to meet some local raw friends.

So far today - a banana, a plum, and some dates.
For the rest of the day I'm planning lots of fruit (including some organic, locally grown Jonagold apples I scored for $1/lb!), raw almond butter on at least one apple and banana, a spinach salad for lunch and dinner, and a smoothie after dinner.

I'm wondering what most people do for protein? I typically train about 20 hours per week for marathons or triathlons (depending on the season) and before raw I was eating a TON of soy for protein. I have some raw hemp protein powder but don't like it very much...

I've got arugula and sprouts with a few olives for lunch, and some kiwis and amazing homemade crackers and jicima and dates to munch on throughout the day. Hope you're all having a great day!

Update: For lunch I just had my delicious arugula and sprout salad with grapeseed oil (I think it's raw), salt and pepper. It was so good, this is the first time I've just used an oil and spices for dressing.

Jvalentine, I too jumped in today! At least I'm not the only one whoes day one is on day five!! Interestingly enough I too train for triathlons. However, I need to drop about 50+ lbs before I can start some serious training for a half Ironman next May. I'm hoping raw food will get me on the right track.

As far as protein goes, I find I get enough by eating lots of sprouts, nuts and seeds. Your body actually doesn't "need" protein per-say but the branch chain aminos from the protein. And believe it not, cooked and processed protein really has far less available aminos for absorbtion than raw nuts, seeds and sprouts. The aminos and enzymes in raw unprocessed fruits, veggies nuts and seeds supply all the nutrition needed for proper muscle growth. Just be sure you are taking in enough calories while endurance training through raw honey, agave and coconut meat and water.

Anyway to log for today:
B: 1 apple, 1 pear, 1/2 an orange
L: HUGE green smoothie made from kale, 2 bananas, 2tbsp honey (bananas weren't ripe enough:rolleyes:), a handful of ultra sweet black grapes, cucumber slices with sea salt....mmmmmm....like juicy potato chips!!!

I've made a huge spinach salad with loads of veggies and sunflower seeds for dinner and will have celery & bell pepper slices with humus to snack on along with a qt. of strawberries, an apple and some raw cashews, walnuts & almonds. I want to be well armed with good food when I go to work tonight so I won't give in when I smell/see people eating Subway and Little Ceasers pizza for dinner!!!

Glad to have another Day 1 / Day 5 person! :)

I guess my biggest issue with the protein is that most of the protein sources are also really high in fat. I am fine with some fat, but don't feel well if I over-do it. I will give the hemp powder another shot. Adding it to smoothies is probably my best bet.

Great day so far. Still doing the master cleanse (MC). However, I'm trying to get my kids and husband to eat more raw foods too. Last night I made mock chicken salad, pecan pie, and Onion bred (it's still dehydrating...has about 20 more hours). My husband and kids loved the mock chicken salad and pecan pie. I was so bumbed that I couldn't eat any. Oh, well sometime mid-next week I will be finished the MC and can eat delicious raw dishes again!!! Good luck to you all today!!!

Yay, another day 1, day 5er! I just got on the scale, first time in months. 157.4, eeks. Looking to shed some emotional baggage and hopefully 10 pounds in the next 6 months! did this challenge 2 years ago, seriously, and a few times since. excited to be back on my true path to good thoughts and clear mind through my sad relationship issue.

thanks for your support.

Hey everyone,

Decided to do a little gallbladder flushing, so
breakfast: the mixture and then herbal tea as recommended
lunch: an apple, grapes, some plums
snack: an apple, grapes
dinner: cucumber, carrot, red bell pepper, cauliflower

This really settled well with my stomach, keeping it light for the week.

Today I had a green smoothie (bananas, collards, celery, oranges), corn, cantaloupe, pomegranates, papaya with coconut water, and a salad. I also did 60 mins of cardio exercise and took a short walk. It was a good day. I even woke up early today, but I didn't sleep that well. I feel positive about this raw diet so far and I want to keep it up. I am glad I have been able to do it so far. I am trying to remind myself to eat for the results of the foods more than just the taste. I want to eat foods that make me feel healthy, not that make me tired and sick.

That's one thing I'm also trying to focus on. We have been so conditioned to eat things because they taste good, and not for the amazing healing and nourishing properties that whole foods have! Not that raw, whole foods don't taste good, but the addiction to cooked and processed foods is definitely strong. Here's hoping we are all stronger ;)

I am having some challenges. I eat this tell me what youthink. I am recieving such stress through I do ot know what. I am trying withthis fast to eat less. I really want to loose the last pounds. I hav lost 45 and I want the rest to go. But I over eat, even on raw and i am not loosing, now I do not gain but I want this last 45 poungs GONE. I stress and over eat like I did today.
morning,
9am
24 ox of OJ fresh squeeze (400 cal)
32 oz green smoothie oj, mango, banana, romaine lettuce (400)
pear (50)
24 oz fresh coconut water (200)

OK THAT WS WAY TO MUCH BUT i STRESSOVER NOT BEING ABLE TO EAT LATER ATE ALL THAT IN ONE SITTING.
2pm
tea with raw honey (100)
salad a bowl(200)
banana(100)
another bowl of salad(200)

2500 calories no wonder I can not get rid of these pounds, and I luckly run a few days aweek, bellydance two days a wekk and do Bikram yoga 3 days a wekk also. If I did not excercise I would be still looking at those other 465 pouinds. I must find a way to calm myself.

Doing well so far! Getting a bit mentally tired of always thinking about what I am going to eat next, what I have to prepare for a later meal etc. I don't want to become obsessive about food, that would be a very unhealthy relationship. I hope that this is only because the 100% raw is new, so therefore at the fore of my mind. But this week I am going to try to stop thinking about meals.

B: almond-banana-orange juice shake
L: crudité salad and grapes
D: cabbage wraps! Bought a very thick green cabbage (first time I have ever bought this veggie!), and used the leaves to wrap enoki mushrooms, onions, avocado and cucumber for a wrap. Delicious!!! I was surprised that eating raw, thick leaves was so tasty!! :) And a mung bean-seaweed salad on the side.
Dessert: dates (I am in loooooove with these delicious organic dates I buy here at Auchan)

ps. For those of you in Paris, Auchan has a great selection of organic veggies, herbs, oils, vinegars, dried fruits and nuts, and at a very reasonable cost.

Have a great day everyone!!

Imani,

Your post struck a chord. i feel for you. i just wanted to say that your intake looks great -- so healthy. way better than SAD McDs, you know.

with all the exercise you do, you can easily trim just 500 cal and see results. just omit the morning OJ and one tea with honey. that's a 3,500 cal deficit per week = one pound of fat. maybe use stevia in the tea instead of honey? for two pounds week -- just omit the coconut water and one smoothie. maybe replace with green juice? don't deprive, just try some substitutions. maybe you'd do better eating/chewing than so much drinking?

my other two suggestions are very different and may both have a time and place:

1. don't stress. don't count. just eat raw, maintain and let your body adjust to its new weight. when you're ready, make a plan, follow it and watch the weight fall off!

2. try a 7 day fast. juice, mastercleanse, green smoothie, water. fasting really gets rid of the over-thinking anf re-sets your body and brain. you'll lose a few pounds to boot.

a 45 pound loss is AMAZING!!!!!! you should be proud. be happy, don't stress. you're doing it -- the rest WILL come off!!!!!!

Morning,

I'm currently dragging myself through the week. I did a juice fast sunday/monday, and right now I wish I had waited. I took a double shift sunday and I worked a bit later monday. I work a very physical job, I feel horrible. It's not a detox either, my muscles have simply been overworked beyond what they were capable of when they should have been resting.

My hands started cramping up sunday night, and they STILL feel just as bad. I've been trying to keep hydrated to help them out, and I did go for a walk before work yesterday to see if I just needed some more blood flow, to no avail. Lots of flexing as well...

So here I am, frustrated to no end. I have work again in a few hours and am DREADING IT! It's my own fault though, I should have brought much more juice with me!

My body seems to be changing as well, or my hormones are going haywire! haha I swear everything I eat tastes lie coconut, EVERYTHING. I had a bowl of pears, apples, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Each bite was like eating coconut meat...I also pretty much ONLY want bananas and squash. The squash more so. I just tried eating more seeds now for a snack, and I could not stomach more than a few bites. To break my fast last night I had a bowl of chopped cucumbers and tomatoes with ACV, and I could not tastes the vinegar! I even drank some of it straight from my bowl..still nothing.

Has anyone else experienced this sort of "change" while raw? I'm at almost three months 100% and my body has been very aggressive lately in letting me know what it wants...

Planned for the rest of the day:

Green smoothie of dandelion, celery, berries, spirulina, and fresh mint!
Chopped Apples and squash (my favourite right now!)

Same again to bring with me to work

Probably more chopped tomatoes and cucumbers with ACV

and a LOT of water. I am going to carry a huge bottle with me at work tonight. I need to flush out whatever is causing these cramps.

I'm having a good day so far - made it to yoga last night so I slept well. I had my usual green smoothie (kale, banana, raspberries, coconut oil and probiotics) this morning, and am set for the day with apples, kiwis, arugula salad, dehydrated flax crackers, pepitas, carrots and jicima. I'm pretty excited to have made it to day 6 :) I've really started to notice a decrease in my stress level at work, which I attribute to raw and yoga. It's a welcome relief!

Hey everyone,
Still on my flush, so:
bf: flush mixture + tea
lunch: 1 cup blackberries blended with a banana, poured it into a bowl then added 1 cup of grapes, yum!
snack: 2 apples, some plums
update:
bought coconuts, ate half of one in one sitting haha
snack: some almond and walnuts (soaked) but didn't do well on them, time to put them to a rest for a while
dinner: 1/3 cucumber, 4 dried figs

AdrienneD, that sounds interesting, lately I've been craving coconuts, just have to get myself some :)

By the way, what are these HW, CW, GW ?

Not a good day today...

I have a bad head cold and my neck and shoulder are acting up seriously from a previous injury. I finally gave in and had to call a neurologist this morning for an appointment. I've been putting off surgery for 3 yrs now and I can't take it anymore. When my neck goes, I'm nonfunctional for the rest of the day. I can't even work today I'm in so much pain. :(

I have no appetite right now, so no food today so far, just lots of water.

On the plus side I was very successful avoiding eating the free Little Ceasers pizza that was left out for everyone last night. I just left the room and enjoyed my raw lemon Lara bar. :)

I had a tomato and avocado for lunch, but my neck hurts to much to do any more food prep. I have a neurology appt. tomorrow morning, so we'll see what happens from there.

Not sure what if anything I will eat tonight.

Feeling really depressed...

BLAH
fell of the wagon tonight, I won't bring up the gory details

However, because of rather inspiring email I got a few hrs. ago, I believe that I would like to try a 72 hr. Master Cleanse, followed by a green smoothie & fruit fast for another 72 hrs. I really want to kick this bad health and funk that I am in and get started on the right track!!

B1: oatmeal with cherry preserves (since cherries are my favorite fruit, I'm just using up the jar)
B2: a banana and 1/4 cantaloupe
L1: 2 cups of green grapes and a few tbsp of peanut butter (natural, but probably not raw)
L2: an ear of corn and some carrots (3?)
D: 1/4 of a large cabbage with a 1/2 cup (cooked) macaroni

Summary: habits are proving tough to break. Aiming to phase them out... It'll be easier once I can get a shopping routine going...

Today's off to a relatively good start. After running 3miles yesterday morning, I went out to walk 3miles this morning. I ended up running: I just couldn't resist! :)

B1: oatmeal - raw this time! I soaked 1/2c oats with 1/2c water and a sprinkle of sea salt. Was watery when I got in from my walk/run, but it went down the pipes just the same. (Yes, cherry preserves went in. Gotta buy fresh apples to replace...)
B2: a banana and 1/4 cantaloupe
L: shredded cabbage (1/4 lg. head) and 1 beet (sliced thin), with soy sauce and olive oil.

Rest of day: not there yet, but my cauliflower and the fresh green beans will figure prominently into supper. Maybe some frozen banana puree for dessert?
(At least, that's the plan.)

Well today is Day 2 for me, and all is well so far. I planned a second salad last night for dinner, but it's going to take a little coaxing for me to eat two salads a day. So I made a really watery smoothie (yuck, need to find something other than fruit and water to put in there) and had some raw almonds and grapes.

Today so far - a few grapes before my morning workout (just did an hour of cardio at the gym because it was 32* outside, but I'm planning a 90 min road bike ride later), then an apple and banana with raw almond butter.

Rest of the day I'll mainly graze on more fruit (cantaloupe, grapes, strawberries), have a salad for lunch (spinach, tomato, avocado, red onion and tahini) and not sure about dinner.

Yesterday I did discover an awesome combination. I cut up a bunch of those little grape tomatoes, then mashed up some avocado and raw tahini and sprinkled on some salt. Yum! Really satisfying.

Hello, everyone, another water fast day today.

I am nearly four months 100% raw. The detox is less intense than when I started, but it still comes around, especially when I am releasing weight.

Speaking of which.........drumroll...........

The scale showe THIRTY POUNDS GONE AS OF TODAY!!!!!:D

Hina- The HW means my highest weight, CW is my current weight, and GW is my goal weight. The day I started raw weighed I was 162, so I ave come a long way already, but I do not feel nearly as worn out from it as when I lost the previous pounds with a cooked vegan lifestyle.

I went to the grocery and they were out of coconuts! I do not even know how that is possible! I think I may be craving them as you are...later this week hopefully they'll be in.

jvalentine- Thanks! It feels so natural now! I started my raw journey with a 14 day juice fast, then I switched right to 100% afterwards. This is my second 30 day challenge, but I see the challenges as simply a marker of how far you can come at 100%, how the body changes after each 30 days. It gives me a great way to reflect.

katchmoleen- and CONGRATS to you! Feels great doesn't it!?

I just finished off a HUGE green smoothie..I had to use a fruit bowl for it haha 1.5 cups mixed berries, 4 cups dandelion, 10 mint leaves, 2 large stocks celery, spirulina...soooo good! Now I'm off to munch on some figs!

How do you open a coconut?! I have yet to buy one due to the image in my head of me with a huge knife or a hammer trying to crack the thing open!

So far today:
grapes, cashew crackers, salad with pink kraut and mung sprouts, 1/4 cup pate, peppermint tea. (I cheated slightly on three bites of my 4year old's left over lunch. Which is why I am looking for some savory ideas!)

jvalentine- My hubby drills holes around the circumference of the coconut, then one good wack and it pops open. I use mature coconuts so perhaps they are a bit tougher. All the videos I have found seem to show young coconuts...

My first thirty days were about half fantastic, half nerve racking! I had a LOT of emotional detox to do. During the first days my puffiness completely went away, I was almost always bloated before then, it felt so good to let it all go. My skin is still in the process of clearing up, but as soon as I added more greens during my second month the process accelerated immensely. My digestive system corrected itself almost instantly (I used to suffer from horrible digestive problems...). I wasn't hungry too often as I know many are during the transition, though this was just after a juice fast, so I had a pretty good hold on physical hunger and mental hunger.

I really got to see how attached I was to cooked food though, wheat in particular. I recall two occasions where I was near tears and practically begging my hubby to give me "permission" to have noodles or a sandwhich. he talked me through it saying that it wasn't what I really wanted and how much I want to stay committed to RAW. I'm happy to say I have yet to slip up. It help a LOT to have someone in your home to supports you and encourages you on your raw journey. HE is not raw, nor a vegan, but that is his choice and this is mine. He does not offer me any of the food he eats, and he doesn't even ask me to prepare animal products anymore, which is GREAT for me!

I'm still amazed at myself of how attached I was mentally to wheat...no wonder so many people struggle at first!

One tip though for first starting out, and I know it seems so obvious, but do NOT punish yourself in any way. If you're craving something cooked, just eat ANYTHING raw then find a really good distraction. Do not dwell on the cooked food itself and how much you want it, but sit and figure out what it reminds you of. This past weekend we had thanksgiving early with the in-laws and of course made the traditional dinner, and yes it smelled good and all, but what I realized was the good feelings it brought back from family time during childhood. And when it comes to exercise, if you are detoxing, DO NOT PUSH IT! During the first 30 days I went on a 5 hour bike trail ride, even though that morning I'd woken up feeling worse then even my juice fast detox. Not a good idea.

Just listen to you body and do what feels right for YOU.

Bananapie- if you are craving savoury try some squash! if you have a blender you can make some fantastic "soups"! I made a butternut squash soup the other day, just the squash, cinnamon, and nutmeg. SO satisfying and savoury!

Day 6:

I felt really euphoric this morning in mind, but physically sluggish (still healing). By experimenting I was able to make an awesome Green Smoothie. (A handful of mature Spinach, 1½ Carrots, 2 Bananas, and half a Cantaloupe (if I had raw honey I would have added a tat of that).

Lunch was a boring Salad. Need to start spicing them up. Also dinner will be some grapes and a Kombucha.

Thanks for the advice about the Coconut as my method is always sloppy.

I love savoury things too... Why don't you try to make some raw kim chi or sauerkraut? I'll give it a go when I got all the ingredients.

As for opening mature coconuts, I just make a hole on one of those 3 spots on the top of the coconut and get the pour the liquid into a cup, then go into the garage and hammer it till open, you really have to self experiment with how it works, don't be afraid to do so :)

Anyway, tried some almonds and walnuts soaked but they didn't really agree with me, so I'm going to stay away from them for a while.

Congrats Katchmoleen!
Adrienne: thanks so much for sharing your story. It's really inspiring and helps us all know that we too can do this!!!

Today went well for me this is day 4 of my MC. It was tough today because I made raw "Onion Bread" a recipe that I got from Matt Amesden's raw food uncook book. It smelled sooo good. I watched my husband and kids devour it. I put a few pieces of it in the freezer so that when I'm back to eating solid foods I will have some. I am so excited about going raw!!!!

Also, Adrienne, I think you said that you did a fast before going raw. Did doing the fast help you to not crave SAD food? I've tried going raw before and craved SAD food. I'm hoping that the MC detox will help so that I don't crave that crap anymore...or at least not as much.

Take care everyone. I am so proud of all of us.

Hello all!!

Breakfast: banana, then a pear, then an apple :)

I had a SAD lunch in the office. Didn't even try to resist the slice of cheese pizza, I think I was rebelling against having to think about every meal, but my body promptly thanked me with oily skin - yes, I could actually feel and see the difference! So hopefully next time I think I want something SAD I will think! Or maybe, I will not want it again now that I see the effect.

Dinner: bean sprouts with ginger, and veggie garden wraps (in cabbage) with mock peanut sauce! Yum, that sauce was super awesome, I cannot wait to have the leftovers tonight!

AdrienneD

rawshay- I would say that yes, fasting DID help with my attachment to SAD food. During the fast what I craved most was simply the act of chewing! Fasting allows you mind to change over to raw, it makes you really appreciate what it is you are putting in your mouth. I really think of what every bite of food is doing for me when I eat it now, I feel so in-tune!

Last night all I could stomach after work was a bowl of cucumbers drizzled in ACV. I WAS hungry, and had been hungry throughout my shift, but I couldn't even stomach the thought of drinking my green smoothie I'd brought. I'm putting the digestive distress down to eating primarily apples and pears yesterday, along with feeling very worn down at the moment. Today at least I am not working late, so I will actually see my husband awake today and can relax with him! I am so very much looking forward to this weekend off with my family!

I wonder why don't we keep one challenge in one thread? Its so redundant making one for each day. That being said, October 7th:

meal1: flush mixture+ herbal tea
meal2: 2 bananas blended with cinnamon and some kind of sprout - I totally forgot what I sprouted haha - poured on top of diced apple in a bowl
meal3: huge orange
meal4: sauerkraut (quite a lot...)
meal5: in food processor - some raw mature coconut meat+figs+ground flax seeds
meal6: apple, 2 plums and some grapes

Physically Grouchy and Sluggish, Mentally alert with energy, always in great Spirits. Can't wait until my body and mind sync.

Had a ton of fruit with a nice green smoothie in the A.M., at lunch I over-ate. I had a very Spicy Salad, Kombucha, Nuts, a potpourri of fruits (went to Whole Foods for lunch).

I also realize that if I don’t start varying my choices of Raw Foods I might get bored. Because of my busy schedule (and lack of interest) I really do not like preparing Raw dishes and prefer to just grab something quick. I will probably prepare a recipe list of dishes that I can prepare in a jiffy.

I woke up feeling like I didn't want to get out of bed today, but my day is going just fine. And, according to the scale I'm down 8 pounds. Of course, I had gained 4 right before the challenge began on a trip to Vegas, so really I'm only down 4 from my previous weight.

Crackers, apples, jicima and kiwi for the rest of the day, and yoga tonight!

Hina- probably a detox! or you could have caught something, but your new raw body got rid of it very quickly! and your coconut mixture sounds heavenly...

I feel so.....just not good today! Huge day at work, I almost cried when I got one project done..then went to the back to check up on things and see another HUGE thing to finish..god..my muscles are aching to just keep still for even a few moments!

I've had diarrhea last night and all day today, I hope it sorts it self out soon, I dislike this feeling so much.

I can't stomach much yet so today has been very light.

B: 2 bananas and 1.5 cups black grapes

Snack: 2 teeny bananas

L: Small green smoothie; last of my dandelion, a few mint leaves, blueberries, and spirulina

D: Right now I am munching on a giant salad made of all soft things...an entire head of red leaf lettuce, 1 big field tomato, 2 stocks of green onion, and some chives minced up.

My body is most definitely telling me something, I just need to stop and listen to figure out what that is. I can't even think about eating anything with fat in it, I almost gagged just thinking about whether or not to use olive oil on my salad...so here I am eating them plain and delicious!

At the most tonight I'll have some more chopped cucumbers and ACV.

Have a good night all!

The past two days I have been eating too much fat "just to stay raw" which I realize isn't the best. I need to figure out why I am having so many cravings for cooked foods. I have been trying to remind myself of the positive results I've had so far in only a week and that they will go away if I return to my former diet. I know that it's okay to eat packaged raw snacks for a day or two, but over time it needs to be balanced, especially with more greens. Yesterday I was really tired from not getting enough sleep and last night I had very light sleep so I just feel exhausted, which makes me really hungry. Plus, I just started exercising recently so my muscles are sore. I have only been doing light workouts but its hard to get used to after not doing any exercise for so long. I had a fun hike looking for wild paw paws today, but I didn't find any.

Wow, I posted a long reply and it disappeared! Grrrrr.

Adrienne, I hope you feel better soon. I felt horrible my first week of raw, bad my second week, and tolerable the next three weeks. Hang in there, it is soooooo worth it. Just visualize your body kicking all that stuff out and it kicking and screaming and clawing as it goes.

Dani, I ate huge amounts of fat at first when I went raw. I poured EVOO on everything, ate at least 1 avocado per day, plus a fair amounts of nuts. As time went on I naturally ate less, not by concious decision, just followed what I wanted. I have heard of this a lot, so I have to think there is some reason the body WANTS fat when you are making the transition. I still lost 8 pounds that first month. I say, if it helps you stay raw, eat what you want and don't worry about it.

I was exposed to H1N1 a few weeks ago and woke up today with a sore throat, congestion, and a horrible headache. I ate very lightly, slept all afternoon and now I feel 100% better. Just a tickle now.

B: A couple of dates and some Throat Coat Tea.
L: A couple more dates and a banana and some more tea.
S: Feeling much better so had a late supper of Alissa's tortillas with mushrooms, lettuce, grape tomatoes, and snowdrop ranch dressing. Very yummy!

Hello!

B: green smoothie - my first one!! I have made green juices before, but never tried a smoothie. Amazing! Had 3 handfuls of spinach, 1 handful of mint and 1-2 handfuls of little purple grapes. I loved it.
Snack before I ran: banana

Had a great run - over one hour, and I felt fantastic at the end. However, when I went to the cantine to get a salad for lunch (I run at work in the forest next to our office), they had already closed the salad bar. So I ate a SAD lunch.

I thought about this later about how I said - well, I have no choice, I have to eat SAD, and did. I would have never done that with meat. I would have just not eaten and drank alot of water. So I am going to stop making excuses now.

Dinner: cauliflower "rice" (I love it, so cute!!) topped with mung bean sprouts-carrots-cherry tomatoes-green pepper coated in mock peanut sauce. Mango and dates for dessert.

Bon appetit!

I've only been raw since Sunday so I'm a few days behind you. :)

Breakfast: banana & papaya pudding

Lunch: tomato & beet soup followed by key lime squares

Snack: Banana with raw almond butter

Dinner: green smoothie with spinach and banana

My meals have been raw, but did drink a diet dr pepper. I really missed the fizz in my mouth.

I ran outside with my son for a half hour. I'm not much of a runner, but I did have the energy to play with him. My knees and back are sore, but I feel like I'm breathing better. Does that sound kooky?

I hope everyone has a great day.

Morning everyone! (or afternoon, or evening ;)

I woke up feeling good today, had my green smoothie with arugula now that I'm out of kale. I was still feeling a little hungry after so I just munched on some almonds.

Lunch today: spinach and sprouts with oil, salt and pepper

Snacks: jicima, apples, kiwi, flax crackers

Dinner: either a smoothie or . . . I may go check out a raw restaurant in town that I've been dreaming of for a while now :)

Good day everyone!

Woke up extra early to get a shower in since they're doing repairs today and the water was shut off at 8am!

I've been lounging, grazing, and doing some random research all morning.

So far today:

6 bananas
2 cups black grapes
3 juicy apples

I just got back from a beautiful and calming walk in the park. I've gotten into the habit of no longer using my Ipod when I go out. it is amazing how much we miss when we're so isolated with our music! I was able to listen to the subtle crunches as the squirrels foraged, the wind in the leaves, the chirps and wing flutters of the house sparrows along the path.....so beautiful! I even found myself smiling so broadly every time the sun got through the leaves and hit me.

I feel GOOD and rested from that walk!

Not to mention my stomach aches and digestive issues have disappeared today! Muscle aches are slower to go away, but at least my hands are no longer cramped up. My appetite even came back with a vengeance last night around 8! haha Hubby and I went out and got me some raw almonds to munch on...it's all I could think of..then I gorged on our cucumbers!

I'm off to work in two hours, so I plan on doing some stretching exercises, maybe some more research or other reading.

I still feel hungry even after my morning grazing, so I may finish off the cucumbers, have more apples, or make a green smoothie!

have a great day everyone!

B: I think I ate a date, and had a few bites of carrot as I was making some soup for company.
L: Green salad with Snowdrop's Ranch Dressing. A date and some almonds.
S: I just had a plate of carrots with more dressing. I may make something later, dunno.

Heya. Well, day 8 for most of you guys and day 9 for me! YAY, aren't we doing great!

I have broken my juice feast today in favour of good ol' raw feasting! and here I am. I have just made my FIRST  (terrible I know... Excuse: I have only just got a semi powerful blender 700W) green smoothie. Which is more of a brown red!! with some berries, a banana and a big bunch of spinich. I added some raw cocoa too. It is yummy. I have a new challange for myself... I have just been to the sticky "70 green smoothies" and chosen 15 of the recipes which I have the indgreedients readily available/ are affordable for me at the moment and have decided to have at least one a day for the rest of this month. I will probably try for 2 a day on weekends and some other days. So that is my challenge for me for the rest of the month.

I really enjoyed my juice feast but it was all getting a bit much with uni coming to an end this week. Probably should have kept going for exactly that reason but I will definatly do it again.

Best wishes to everyone.

A good day. Fasted in the morning. lunch was a green smoothie and an apple. Snack was a cup of muesli (oats), Dinner half an avocado, crackers and mung sprouts. Taking time in the morning to just hydrate with water and waiting until I was genuinely hungry I think helped with cooked food cravings later in the day. I know that sounds a little contradictory to "don't let your self get to hungry" but I think it set the tone for really appreciating what I was eating and its nourishing qualities for my body.

Today it was really a challenge for me to stay raw, but I did. I had a bad headache today and had to cancel my plans and take a nap. I guess this might be detox. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I frequently wonder if eating a small portion of somewhat healthy cooked foods is a better choice than overeating high fat raw foods in an unbalanced way. I decided to eat the high fat raw foods today because I think its easier to get back on track from this than from eating grains which are addictive. I didn't do any exercise today, but I just ordered a new yoga video called "Candlelight Yoga". I'm excited to try it soon.

Salut!
B: banana and an apple
Had a really great, long run in the forest again at lunchtime. I love running on all the acorns and thinking of the little animals tucking them away for the winter. :)
L: This time since I knew I was running at lunch, I brought food with me! Had mushroom/onion salad and cauliflower "rice" with sunflower and pumpkin seeds, cherry tomatoes and dried apricots.
D: Spinach-apple soup

Had bad bad bad gas all evening. Not sure if it was a result of the SAD food the day before (I think so), or detoxing, but man oh man who knew so much air could be in there???

I really, really wanted cooked food today. I was driving home from work and passed by several restaurants that are clumped together by the highway. The smell really got to me. The building where I work gets really cold and damp in the winter and that settled in today. I really wanted something warm in my tummy. :o

I persevered though....

B: a banana, two key lime squares

L: finished off the beet & tomato soup

S: guacamole with a lot of non acidic fruits in it

D: an apple and a key lime square.

I overheated my Vitamix on Monday making the key lime bars, so now it only works on high. The variable speed doesn't work at all. I have to call them today to see how to go about getting it fixed. I really don't want to do without it, but it needs done. :(

I hope everyone has a terrific day 9!

Welcome to Day 9 everyone!

A great day so far, I finally have a day off work when I am actually "off". I'm not going anywhere, and I'm not doing anything haha. My muscles are thanking me so much! I forgot how great it felt to to sleep in and being woken up softly by your cat, much nicer then an alarm!

I'm finding a decrease in my need/want of sweet foods. I had a green smoothie before bed last night with only kale, 1/2 cup blueberries and spirulina. I loved that I could taste the kale so strongly!

So far today:

Switched it up and had my big salad for breaky! 1 head red leaf lettuce, 1 large cucumber, 4 tomatoes.

Snack was half and apple and a small tangerine.

I'm planning on having a green smoothie later, but I really do not have any cravings, so we'll see how the rest of the day goes food wise.

I'm also doing an "allergy test" on myself today with the tangerine. I developed an allergy to certain citrus fruits, along with pineapple and mango when I was in my early teens. Over the summer I tried clementines and found I could eat them once more. I'll know in about an hour if the tangerine has any effects. I don't know if I could ever bring myself to try the mango or pineapple again though, horrific side effects with those two.

Has anyone else had allergy changes once going raw?

have a great day everyone!

Got up at 6 again and went for a walk, before that I had my "flush" mix + nettle tea, then got back and set off to school by bike.

meal1: banana, 2 plums, grapes
meal2: 2 apples 2 plums
meal3: magenta smoothie - 1 orange, 2 cups mixed frozen berries, 2 stalk celery and a banana (which has no impact on the lovely savoury taste at all)
meal4: 2 Tbsp of each - ground flax seed and sesame seed; some mature coconut meat to chew on
meal5: grapes and sauerkraut (I know, I'm strange)

I've been a little stressed today, but I've kept it mostly raw.

B: 2 bananas with some chunky pb. The peanut butter wasn't raw, but it didn't have any of the sugars or man made fats in it. I'm proud of myself b/c I usually eat spoonfuls of it in one sitting and I didn't today.

L: guacamole with a ton of veggies and non acidic fruits in it.

S: 3 key lime squares (spread thoughout the day)

D: a banana

My family lives very close to my in-laws so we eat there a lot. Tonight was pizza night & I didn't even have a piece. I'm pretty proud of myself especially when I really wanted cooked food yesterday. :D

I'm kinda hungry now (almost 11 pm edt), but I'm going to bed soon. I feel wired right now for some reason.

I hope everyone has a great day 10. :D

I'm surprised that today was already day 9. Today was a really hard day for me again, but I did it. I have been feeling really tired and getting headaches (probably from detox). I notice that when I have a lot to do I get overwhelmed and want to eat comfort foods. However, today I told myself it was okay to buy some new yoga videos and a Mandala Healing kit instead of spending the same amount on comfort foods which I would have done in the past. I also got some clay and some paints for art projects. It feels good to finally allow myself to get these things that help me do what I love.

DAY 10 - I don't know if I am still Raw or not (100%) but I had a hot cup of tea, although I waited until it was lukewarm. I also had some salad dressing that I was pretty sure was Raw (made by request at a deli) but tasted like they added sugar; along with the fact I felt sleepy afterwards. In any event, so far so good as my challenge continues. I am struggling now with the lack of sleep. The green smoothies really help as well as my daily salad (usually lunch).

Someone sent me info on a book entitled "Raw in Ten Minutes" in response to my rant about preferring to do something quick as opposed to spending lots of time making raw dishes. Many Thanks. ;)

Hey everyone,

One more day left of the flushing... It really took my energy away for the week, so I couldn't really do my resistance trainings. Went for walks instead and did Qi Gong exercises, biking and relaxing stretchings. I'm slowly reintroducing more nuts, I've cut them out for the week and had only seeds in small amounts and coconut meat.
Anyway, here's the menu:
flush mixture+ nettle tea
meal1: in FP - banana, soaked flax seeds, carob powder, some sprouts. Poured on top of diced apple in a bowl
meal2: sauerkraut mixed with diced red bell pepper and carrot
meal3: mature coconut meat
meal4: smoothie of 4 apples, 1 banana, 1/2 cucumber and like 1/4 head lettuce or more... shared with my father
35 mins of which 20 mins were interval training on the stationary bike, did it at like 9 pm. Suddenly had the urge to cycle a little so I did :)

Hi, I've been trying to go 100% raw for the past week but seem to have the strangest cravings for salted crackers at the end of the day

Maybe I'm not getting enough carbohydrates or something? Here's what I ate yesterday:

Raw muesli for breakfast with nut milk
Sprouted moong
One small yellow melon
Three kiwi fruits
5 salted crackers

Does this happen to anyone else? Any ideas on what I could replace them with?

Take it easy

Ahh...S..l..o..w..l..y slipping:eek:
BUT My mind and heart are converted. In the past when I have slipped I usually had a major guilt trip on my self and just threw in the towel all together. This time something has changed I still feel I have the courage, self compassion and determination to keep trying and to keep doing my best. Tomorrow is a new day. I will go back to reminding myself to take it meal by meal and moment by moment. I also need to make a few more green smoothies, Greens really take away the cravings for cooked food and sugars. I hope you are all doing well and treating yourselves very well. Thank you for being my sounding board.

It seems like everyone is having a bit of a time at the moment. Last night I drank for the first time in 13 weeks. If the wine was raw or not is besides the point to me. I put a toxic substance into my body ignoring the big scheme of things. That is said and done however and I have been enjoying raw foods today and didn't eat any non raw even after being dragged into mcD's last night(not that I was tempted) I had a celery, spinich and pear green smoothie this morning and have been snacking on nuts and dates (tsk tsk!) at uni. I just got home and made a big salad for lunch... at 3pm. Yummy! Anyway, that is my news and whatnot for the 10th/11th.

Hi everyone, still raw here, will be four months on Monday. I am leaving in the morning for Las Vegas with my four younger children, going to a family reunion. I still have to go in and work 4 hours on my early shift and then we are hopping on the jet at 11:10 am. I worked today too and then am in the midst of packing. Busy day! I have all my calzones plus some dates, nuts, and a lara bar, for travel food. I was hoping to make some crackers but have just plain run out of time.
B: Green smoothie of bananas and spinach
L: Cheeze casserole with peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, and "burger." it was SO GOOD! the anaheim pepper made it really taste like nacho cheese.
S; Still working on some marinara sauce with crackers, in between packing and checking on reservations.

Today was another hard day for me, but I still managed to eat raw foods. I haven't been doing my exercise though. I am trying to change my morning routine to include good health habits. I used to use the computer while eating breakfast and after breakfast for awhile. It is far too easy for me to spend lots of time on the computer when I have more important things to do. Today I read a book while I was eating and then I listened to a raw foods lecture while I prepared food and got ready for the day. I have also been taking a short walk after breakfast most days. I want to start exercising in the morning too because when I put it off til later, it never happens.

Hey everyone! Today I didn't plan well, got pretty hungry and weak while out and about and didn't have anything with me. But I persevered, and managed to make it work by treating myself to my new favorite raw restaurant. Anywho, here's today:

apple
green smoothie
kiwi
raw nachos (totally amazing!)
raw key lime pie (omg!)

I feel a little nauseous now, but I'm not planning on eating anything else for the rest of the night, just drinking lots of water. I'm also dealing with my . . . um, feminine week, which makes food stuff weird.

B: Carrot-tomato-lettuce-ginger juice, banana

L: Made a curry sauce of almond milk/cream and curry paste, put it over cauliflower "rice" and carrots and cabbage

D: Made my first raw lasagna! Kept it simple: mashed avocado, zucchini strips and raw marinara sauce. Walnut paté meatballs on the side. Absolutely delish! I do not have a dehydrator, so I suspect some water will collect on the bottom of the dish.

Having really long and excellent workout sessions, really pleased with that!

Hello everyone!

B: 2 bananas with pb. Yes, I'm still eating the pb.:o (I really need to invest in a food processor so I can make more of the recipes)

L: beet & tomato soup

S: apple

D: 3 key lime squares & coconut spread. I really didn't feel like making something for myself b/c I was so tired.

My downfall today was that I drank 2 diet sodas. I was doing well without them for a couple of days, but I really miss the fizz in my mouth. hello all! This morning I had a green smoothie straight away, used dates since I am out of bananas, was a little too chunky for my tastes. Can't wait for that vitamix, lol!

Anyway, then I had a red bell pepper stuffed with sunflower seed pate, and some tomato flax crackers with onion cashew dip and another leftover nacho dip. And a snackaroon.

I've also grabbed a couple slices of pineapple out of the dehydrator - so good! And I've got some carrot cashew cookie concoctions in there, made with the carrot pulp from my juicer. We'll see how they turn out!

I'm feeling very snacky today, it's going to be a struggle to eat fresh fruits throughout the rest of the day.

I have had agreen smoothie for breakfast which was 2 golden kiwi a banana a teaspoon of raw honey and a bunch of spinich.

Lunch was a salad with some red cabbage, half an avocado, half a red pepper, celery, third of a cuc and some red onion. I had some soaked sundried tomatoes and mustard which I made to top. YUM!

I will probably snack on a pear at uni.

I think I will have another green smoothie for dinner or maybe just some carrot juice with chia seeds soaked in. It is one of those days today :)

It was very hard to make it through today. I have been having a lot of detox symptoms like headaches and it's hard to keep going when I'm not noticing positive results right now. I feel worse than I normally do, but I am hoping there will be a great reward in good health for doing this. I am thankful that I have support from my b/f and from this board to help me stay on track. Having good raw food choices prepared ahead of time really helps too. I know all the elements of health have a synergistic effect so I want to make sure that in addition to eating raw foods that I also get sun, fresh air, exercise, sufficient sleep, and plenty of breaks to do what I love.

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing great too ;)

-magenta smoothie ver.2.0. - 1 stalk celery, 3 cups mixed berries, 2 bananas, 10 large lettuce leaves, 1/3 cucumber
- in FP: raw chestnuts (peeled), cinnamon, carob powder, banana, ground flax,
- apple, grapes
- cocoa oat balls: 3 apples (either grated manually or in a FP), 1 cup rolled oats, cinnamon, raw cocoa powder, ground flax. Add the grated apples, oats cinnamon, cocoa powder and ground flax in a bowl, mix them together. The juice of the apples will keep it together, now you can either form it into balls and can roll them in dried coconut, or eat as is
- sauerkraut (need the good fellas in it :))
