Hi all,

I am Petra, I am a swedish woman living in Houston, TX.
I have lived in the states since 1991, so I am almost more american than swedish, just don't tell my mother.
I have two children, one of each..yeah, and of course a darling hubby....many chickens, cat, birds, and our three dogs..my love is my new pup, Otis. He is a basenji, hence my username.
I have 'dabbled" with raw eating since november of 2008, and overall feel so much better already..I eat raw all day until evening, then I join my family on whatever dinnerplans they have..of course I am the one who cooked it, so it stays fairly healthy. I am wanting to extend my raw to 100% but am worried about losing my passion for baking and cooking if I let myslef "go" all the way. Silly I know, but that is my obsticle right now. Being part of this forum will come in very handy and nice.
I am the only one I know in my surrounding friends and family circle that eat raw at all, and I am considered a nut for it..my husband joins me for raw in the AM, but he does still eat cooked for lunch and the rest of the day..Small steps. My kids eat standard diet although not SAD, they eat very swedish, not so junky and loves fruit and veggies, raw not cooked, heaven forbidd I ask them to eat a mushy veggie...
Thanks for letting me join, look forward to learning and enjoying my life raw..

Welcome Petra. You can get a new passion for raw uncooking, if you want. :) All kinds of ways to sneak in more veggies for kids.

Welcome! You should get Alissa's book AND DVDs and have your family watch the DVDS with you. Then decide to go all Raw one day a month then increase it to two times a month and so on. Maybe even do a 30-day challenge. Meanwhile you can be creating everything from pizza to cookies to calzones to ice cream to cakes and pies and crackers. There is basically nothing that cannot be created Raw.

And trust me, you will not lose that love of cooking/baking, if anything, you will become super creative in preparing wonderful, palatable dishes! For real! You will just know what goes well with what and will create foods to...well...to LIVE for!

Have fun w/this. Make your family healthy!

Hello Petra! I have a relative going to the university in Houston. I have the same concerns as you, but after reading the moderator's comments, maybe we can still love food preparation, and in a new way.
