My name is Kimberly,I am 22 years old, have 4 kids under the age of 5,and live in Nc. I grew up the traditional way of a southern family, huge meals, lots of lard,,greasy, fatty nasty, foods. I have never been much of a meat eater(mostly chicken) and just feel VERY unhealthy.

My hair is dull,my skin is starting to go nuts,I am tired, sick, aches, pains, high blood pressure. I have more problems than a normal 22 year old has but I am hoping I can make this change and feel better. Sure I have 150lbs I need to loose but I just want to feel better and be healthy for my children. On a good note my kids LOVE veggies, fruits, hummus, etc so it won't be hard to get them to eat raw sometimes. My husband fully supports me in this and offered to eat raw when he is at home with me (he is a OTR trucker so he isn't home much).I have been researching the raw food diet since I saw a program that had this diet on it (secret lives of women, extreme diets). I just really don't know where to began. I have read and read for 3 days now and feel better I just don't know if I would be able to go 100% raw (although i long to do that)

Anyway sorry this is so long! I love this site already and can't wait to know everyone.

Welcome Kimberly. There's plenty of information and support on here, so you came to the right place. :) That's wonderful that your kids enjoy many healthy foods. Just enjoy the process and keep it simple.

I'm in the Lake Norman area. I know how the food can be. My favs...hot potato salad, hot banana pudding, fried squash/zucchini/potatoes & beans with cornbread..don't forget the butter on the bread! I made my own butter, sourcream & cream cheese so it wasn't so as bad store bought but I feel better away from it.

Great your kids like the fresh things & DH is supportive, that will make it a little easier. There are 2 raw meetup groups in NC, maybe more.
send me a note where you are, we may not be too far from each other.

Hi Kimberly,

Welcome - you are in the right place. I am only in my 3rd week of 100% raw, but my life has changed in beautiful ways already!

Raw Food Talk (RFT) is the greatest, and everyone is so supportive.

All the best,

Cynthia

Glad you're here. Sounds like you've got some support at home and that will help tremendously. As for the kids, they're young and you can feed them healthy fruits and vegs too!

Hi Kimberly. Now is the time to get healthy. You have made a good choice to come here for support. I just rejoined this forum, and I'm so very thankful it's here. Are you going to join the 30 day challenge in September, or not yet?
