Do you think they are okay after one year? I had put some in my freezer last October and thought I had used them all up. It turns out I have some left!! OOPS! :( I really dont want them to go to waste but one year is a long time. Does anyone know how long nuts are supposed to last if they are frozen?
Oh.. I smelled them and I cant tell if they smell okay.

They'll be fine. Nuts can lie under frost for years and still be viable. They are designed that way!

Oh yeah. Think about it. Back in the day when this is how humankind ate? We had to forage for those frozen nuts, seeds, and berries...
They will fine. Same with dates and actually I've had some blueberries for 2 years and they have been fine!

Yes, that's exactly why I have a full sized freezer. I buy in quantity - cheaper and then freeze.
What not to freeze? Hmmm, like any of the dips I don't think would be good to freeze and then thaw. However, Alissa's calzone freezes wonderful as do the burgers, onion bread. Seems like anything that's been dehydrated freezes well...as do juices...soups probably would. I don't know. A lot of times I will try a teeny bit, freeze it for a week, then thaw and see what it's like...

I have someone in Texas who freezes the pecans they pick right off their own trees. I get bags from them that have been frozen 2-3 years. They still taste better then store-bought.

If I had my big chest freezer already (gotta find a way to get it from my mum's house in the country) I'd be going crazy with the freezing!
I have a little freezer space, but that is mainly taken up by berries and frozen bananas for smoothies and ice creams. These are the things that I sometimes freeze: dehydrated pizza bases, soups, avocados (cut in half, or mashed, yes they do freeze well!) colouring and flavouring juices in ice cube trays (like ginger, beet juice, etc), sauces, extra tomatoes, nuts, green juices, overripe fruits (cut up, deseeded), corn, gourmet stuff like cakes, pancakes etc.
Probably the only things I wouldn't freeze would be green leafy veg, whole carrots and pumpkins, and anything that might get a weird texture to it after freezing.
As VFL said, freeze a little and try it to see if you like it :).
I CANNOT wait to get my chest freezer, berry season is only a few months away and this year I want to get a whole YEAR'S worth of blueberries, cherries, blackberries, raspberries etc.

I just finished watching Green Smoothie Girl's latest video. She filmed a trip to the grocery store and explained all the different greens (and other veggies & fruits) to put in a GS.
She said that if your greens are starting to go bad or wilting - to toss them in the freezer and they're fine for GS (not for salads and the like though). Just wanted to toss that in.. *Ü*

never would have tried that idea. But it makes sense though. I do that for my bananas.
