Green smoothies now make me nauseous. I couldn't finish my green smoothie yesterday. The thought of kale/chard/spinach in my smoothies all of a sudden repulses me. The thought of bananas in my green smoothie also repulses me.

I'm going to go with salads for a bit.

Has anyone gone through this? I swear I could drink green smoothies everyday but I can't now.

I'm also thinking maybe I can just drink a tablespoon of spirulina in a small amount of water to get more greens in me for the time being. The thought repulses me as well but at least I can chug it down quickly.

And oddly enough my face has finally started to clear up. The last of the acne has just about disappeared and I'm a bit worried it will come back!

I'm kind of going through the same thing. I'm a bit off my daily green smoothies and doing more juicing. But I still try to have a couple green smoothies a week for the fiber. But yeah I hear you, I'm a little sick of them. Hope the taste for them comes back.

The same thing happened with my husband. He was drinking greens smoothies daily when we got our BlendTec - then wham, he just couldn't drink them any longer... You're not alone! *Ü*

This totally happened to this kid I know down the street, named... Oh never mind it was ME.

I was drinking green smoothies daily,2 huugge ones. For about 1 year. Now I wouldnt even go near green smoothie anything to save my life. Now I just juice the greens I need, and down it, hence the greens dont make lots of juice, so its fast and quick and easy. Just down it like a wheatgrass shot. No fuss. I still eat salads etc... But cant do the green smoothies anymore. Yuck! 4 years 100%... def go thru stages and phases!

I've had a hard time liking them from the start, unfortunately I haven't included them too much into my daily meals.....I should though, because I have a bunch of spinach & apples to use up....

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/shrek.gif..... I've heard of this from so many Rawbies that they love them then one day -- they just hit a wall and can't down one more drop!

I always wondered if when that happens... maybe that's the body's way of saying ... thank you - I have a good supply of those nutrients to last will last me a while!! So... howz about something else for awhile? !! :D

course... that's just my rawbie logic ... which can be scary at times!

Are you rotating your greens? That's something people don't do or talk about a lot but I was watching this video by Sergei Boutenko and (from 5:50 - 6:45) he talks about rotating greens, he says that there are alkaliods in greens which will build up in the body if the green aren't rotated. So according to his advice, eat kale one day, spinach the next, chard the next ect. instead of eating a little of all of them every day. This might work.

Yes I rotate every three days or so. I'll have kale for three days, then spinach, the chard. etc.

Usually changing up the flavor helps-using different fruits, nuts/nut milk, chocolate/carob, other flavorings.

3 days in a row is enough for me per week. amazing how that happens.

Ann Wigmore also recomends taking breaks from greens, in this case wheatgrass. She says to take a week off every month and several days off a week. The reason she says to do this is that it will make the greens more effective as a healer because the body's adaptive mechanisms will relax during the breaks. A couple days a week plus an entire week off per month works out to be 13 days off per month or avoiding wheatgrass nearly half the time!

Per my post a week or so ago - spinach and chard are same botanical family - as are beets. So you're not rotating as much as you might think.....

kale is brassica/cabbage family, so definitely a different flavor from the others in the beet family.

I believe this also!

I find that I naturally have lots of breaks - just due to time constraints, gardening mishaps with the wheat grass, etc.

It's also funny how the same thing is true of exercise......they say when you hit a plateau, do something completely different for a while, or to design your workouts around a lot of different things.

So yes - change is good! And keep that body guessing! Only way to keep it on it's toes!

You need to rotate your greens. Perhaps get the new book with green smoothie of the rawfamily.com They have interesting combination with different greens, such cilantro etc...

Green has a natural poison that mother nature did in other to prevent the animal to eat at once all the same species. If you rotate your green, you will be ok. You can try chard green, beet green, arugula green, dandelion green, parsley etc... or even e3live.

I am so happy to find this thread. Now at least I know I'm not the only one.

In my case, though, I got increasingly nauseated, but only in the evenings, for about a month, and had upper abdominal pains off and on, then after downing a green smoothie one morning, I got very, very ill and haven't touched a green smoothie since.

That was July 6th.

I didn't have any greens for a month except a few shots of wheatgrass and those didn't make me feel ill at all.

Then I had a large organic baby greens salad a couple weeks ago and got ill again within two hours.

I'm afraid to touch greens again in any large quantity (except for wheatgrass) but plan to get some kale tomorrow, eat a little bit, and see what happens. Wish me luck.

(I've been to the regular M.D. about this, and a gastro doc, and neither has any knowledge of high-raw so they aren't much help. They think I need a gallbladder test for function. I already had an ultrasound and that was normal, no stones. Very perplexing. So I think it's something about greens.)

This appears to be the natural progrssion of raw eating. I too after a year or so couldnt handle smoothie anymore. No matte rhow I try now, I cant get thru one even. I have already switched to green juice and try a smoothie now n then but nothing about them appeals to me.

Listen to the body. If the body doesnt want them, its fine.

me too ! I developed an adversion to all green drinks, especially kale and so I am drinking more diluted carrot juice and things like that !
