I've been vegetarian for about a year, well I guess mostly a junkatarian:o. I need to lose 70 pounds and have been reading a lot of the Raw way. I've purchased a dehydrator and really want to stick to this way a eating. What I'm afraid of is eating too many nuts/seeds and gaining weight (I can eat my weight in nuts!). Can you really lose the weight even if you eat the raw nuts and seeds? I want to do this 100% but the nuts are holding me back. Any help would be appreciated.:)

First off welcome. Second, do you have Alissa's book and DVDs? She thoroughly explains and outlines a complete 30 day plan. I'd say try it for 30 days, 100% Raw w/a varied diet, nuts included and then you come back and tell us!

I've been a veggie for a long time but struggled with my wt the past several yrs. I started this about 3 months ago & am down 2 sizes!!! It's amazing seeing the changes in by body. I don't look it over daily, I'll just see it in passing. I'm pleased. Give it a try, I think you'll enjoy it.

I have been all fresh raw since I joined the 30 day challenge on this forum on August 1, 2007. After the challenge got started the weight started coming off. The fat came off fast for the first 6 months or so and then slowed down like a curve. It keep coming off but slower and slower and I kept tightening my belt up and buying slimmer clothes until I was about 1 1/2 years raw and had lost over 60 pounds at which point it has stabilized for the last 6 months. I now weigh 173 pounds (5ft10in male) and am slim and trim the way I always wanted to be.
As to the nuts part of your post I don't know how that will work out because I don't eat nuts due to the controversy surrounding them about if they are actually raw or not.
Good luck.

I eat a bit of nuts/seeds with every meal and sometimes a snack. I have been raw 11 weeks and have easily lost over 20 pounds, am not hungry, eat when I want, and find I have a normal appetite. It is GREAT.

Welcome to the rft :) The great thing about it is this: you are the only one who can answer this question 100%.
Go for it,-give it a try and enjoy the results :D

Tiny little nuts are holding you back? I never knew they were that powerful...heeheheee.
Set your mind to what you want and simply do it. Eat nuts or dont. If you want raw bad enough there is nothing that can hold you back.
Best to you.

Oh..on the weight. Raw works for losing weight. It just does it all by itself.

Thank you all for your input. I do have Alissa's book and DVD, it's just almost everything she has for an entree contains nuts and I just want to do everything right. And yes, a tiny little nut is VERY powerful  the thing is that I'm vertical challenged and anymore weight gain is going to break the bank! I'll give it a try and limit my "nuts" to one meal (her "almost tuna" is to die for). You guys make it sound so easy. Congrats to all of you on your great weight losses. Got my sprouts a sprouting and I'm on my way down, scale wise! BTW "fresh raw" is that just fruits and veggies? Sorry to sound clueless, but I guess I am. Thanks again to all of you! Have a great day!

ILS? Alissa's food is to LIVE for! Also, one needs a certain amount of fats - thus the nuts. Try this. It WILL work!
Keep us posted!

I found after a few months I didn't want nuts anymore.

I have had a very difficult time losing weight for a long time.....basically the metabolism of a banana slug. I have been raw for 11 weeks and have lost about 22 pounds. I don't worry about what I eat and do make entrees with nuts and add nuts and coconut oil to my smoothies every morning. I find I am much more in tune with my appetite now and get full faster. So the total amount of nuts I am eating is probably only a few tablespoons at each meal. And since mostly what else I eat is veggies, the total calories still must be pretty low (don't know since I don't keep track). But I eat whenever I am hungry and eat what I want. What could be better? To me it is the dream diet!
