Hi there! My name is Cris.. I obviously live in Indiana from the title hehe
I am 24, engaged to the love of my life (also SAD but mildly interested) with 3 SAD kiddos running around. I was raised with the weird mom who made rockin lentil soup and put wheat germ on everything. She got me interested in my health.
What got me interested in raw eating was not my health.. but the fact that everyone around me is sick or dying it seems!
last month my SO's mother was put in ICU and has been in and out ever since from scarring in her lungs..
My father last month was diagnosed with a walnut size growth in his brain.
My SO's step mother has asthma, sleep apnea, diabetes, infertile, and is severely overweight.
My sister is severely overweight and it is majorly effecting her health.
My SO has bad kidney stones and other various health issues.
My grandfather is on his death bed.

All of this has me thinking.. if I want to live anywhere past 50 I need to get my health and my diet on track.
I carried a baby as a surrogacy and gained a LOT (60lbs) which is still there.. all of it. I currently am 5'6 213lbs.
I have heart palpitations, depression, thyroid issues (self diagnosed, major fatigue being first clue) and I personally thing am nearing diabetes. I have had a lot of blood sugar problems. I am tired of living feeling like crap and want to do all I can to see I live to a ripe old age as healthy as possible!
I have been lurking here for a few weeks and thought it was time to say HI!
:p

I am on day 5 right now and struggling with the loss of bread. Just plain old bread.. I miss the texture, the light fluffy as it seems the raw is a bit heavier on the tummy. I have been doing this totally on a whim and kinda jumped in unprepaired but am doing fairly well I think. for now, I am allowing myself one "cheat" a day.. today I heated my squash.. yesterday I used half a whole wheat bun and so on. Healthy cheats but it is covering my cravings for now till I get more used to this and learn to make more stuff I like.
I am currently tackling dehydrating granola.
Anyways thats about it. so HI! sorry for the book lol

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/welcome.gif … Aloha!! Welcome to RawFood Talk!!

wow... you are so strong (and young) to be dealing with all of this. It is strange though... it seems like health issues like this are surfacing EVERYWHERE... in so many lives. Many people that i know seem to be dealing with some kind of health issue either in their lives or the life of a loved one.

My bff was diagnosed with a golf ball sized brain tumor and had surgery 1 month ago. it came on suddenly ... and the list of family and friends recently diagnosed with caner of some sort goes on... and their ages range from 24 to 65. very strange times indeed...

I'm so glad to see that you are taking the steps to give yourself the opportunity to live a wonderful and RAWmacious LIFEstyle! that so cool.

oh -- btw... on a very personal note.... being a surrogate was a wonderful gift that you gave to someone... Bless you for that. I came VERY close to becoming a surrogate for a couple, unfortunately - the more I got to know them, the more I realized they would not make good parents, they fought constantly and were filled with anger ... so I ended up refusing. Had they been a loving couple that could've provided a safe and loving home... I wouldn't have hesitated. ;)

Thank you starfire! :) The surrogacy was by far my worst pregnancy (it actually made me not want any more babys which is sad.. i wanted a large family) so hopefully after being raw a few years my body will be able to handle a raw pregnancy and I wont have so many complications. The baby is lovely and I am so happy she is loved!! I get to see her as a weekday babysitter which is great but man I am glad she isnt mine! I'd go insane with four kids around all the time!
She is a doll though. And as prepared as we were (we both talked about doing it for years) it was not hard at all. I acually dont feel as though she is mine which rocks :) I do love the baby just not the same KWIM?
Anyway enough rambling and thank you!
(BTW you are gorgeous!!!)
