I know it seems like an unusual concept, but I wonder, has anyone here treated their psychological problems with raw food (most likely by accident)?
This may include:
mania
depression
social anxiety
etc

Me=) I had such severe depression, it's dangerous to post on an open forum haha. Now, I never get that depressed or upset or angry (well, still angry sometimes tbh) everything is much easier to deal with. I'll google some older posts for you that deal with this.

I've been dealing with PTSD & depression for 3yrs. A few weeks after I began mostly raw, I finally felt that I was present. I as always in a fog, just trying to be where I needed to be. Days still run together & I need a calenday but I feel I'm much better. People say I look better too. Would like to get my 7yo dd more raw but it's not easy. Getting a little in..she smells everything & wants to know the recipe.
Keep up but don't put any expectations on it. I suddenly realized things were better & I laughed more, cried less.

I have always been an emotional person. And I still have good days & bad days. I think it takes more than just raw food to get over psych issues. It takes a deep divination in your spirit, self-honesty, and self-evaluation. We are not struggling against flesh, it's the principalities that we cannot struggle with alone.
Raw has helped me filter out alot of negative emotions i used to have, as well as bad choices, and addictions. But my every day well-being depends on how my spirit is feeling. Nothing is a cure-all. The best we can have is "Balance"

Those links were very informative and helpful, thank you Thick ! And I agree, Tishi. There are a lot of factors that can contribute to our mental-well being. I was hoping to tackle the "physical" problem. It seems people are far too eager to pop a pill in order to cure these chemical imbalances. You hear it all the time on tv. Ads for depression, ADHD, so forth. So rather than going pill-happy, I wanted to approach a more natural remedy. :)

I've read Psycho-Nutrition by Carlton Fredericks
http://www.amazon.com/Psycho-nutrition-Carlton-Fredericks/dp/0425110559/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpt_3
which is an old book and neither raw nor vegan and the author was a smoker, but he was a Doctor who treated mental problems, the whole range of mental problems, depression, schizophrenia, kids who are "slow", ect., with "mega-doses" of vitamins and avoidance of the causes, like wheat and food additives.
This was the first book I've read that mentions vitamin B 15, which helps with speech development. After giving a boy B 15 for a month the boy made remarkable advances in speech and was potty trained.
There are so many vitamins, some haven't been discovered yet, that a raw diet could only help any situation.
I just ran across this book in Google Books, the author is raw! Healing Bipolar and Depression: My Journey to Whole Health By Suzy Hoseus
