Hi all,

Stumbled across your site today after looking for advice on fasting and detoxing stuff - had been looking at 'Jason Vale's juicemaster' stuff (used to juice quite a bit).

I do not think i'd ever go 100% raw (nor would I want to!), But I would like to get waaaaay more raw into me than I already do. The reason i'd not want to go 100% is that it would make me a social outcast amongst my friends/family/partner etc. I love cooking - so I don't want to miss out on that sensual delight!

I want to aim for 70% raw - and am thinking of doing a detox to start me off and get some energy into my body.

I LOVE bacon (yes, i know its really bad), but i don't eat junk food - i always have brown rice/pasta if i have it and try to eat things out of the garden when they are there.

I would love some tips on fasting - how long to go for and how to do it safely so i'm not all lightheaded!!

Thanks in advance

Strawberrybelly :)

Welcome! And why do you say NOR WOULD I WANT TO referring to 100% Raw? If you've never done it and reaped the benefits from it, how do you know you'd never want to? It's awesome...

Also, we try not to talk about the SAD/CRAP foods we love(d) as many are trying to move away from them.

Use the search feature about fasting...a lot has been discussed...in fact, here is an entire section dedicated to fasting:

Hey there!

Sorry about mentioning evil foods!! I won't do it again...

Yes, very good point re the 100% - i suppose i can't imagine how its easy to do if you live with/surrounded by people who don't do raw. How do you go out to meals with them at restaurants etc? That is why I said that.

I have juiced and i was probably 50% raw at that point, and it did make me feel good. I don't have alot of money so I don't know how to afford all the amazing raw stuff too - how do you guys manage that if you don't have a big income?

I know that when i have eaten something really SAD (ie junk stuff) I feel it instantly, I might like the idea first, but afterwards i think 'why did i do that' it makes me feel lethargic and sluggish.

I am in awe of you folks who are going 100% - but I know I couldn't go 100% overnight... slowly slowly catchy monkey!

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/welcome.gif … Aloha!! Welcome to RawFood Talk!!

There is a LOT of information out there... and lots of amazing books. If I were to recommend a book and DVD that is thorough and filled with info from A to Z... I seriously would recommend Alissa's Living on LIVE foods book.

Lot's of us here got started using that book, and well... Alissa has a way of making it so easy to transition right where you're at ... easy to follow ... easy to understand ... it's all right there. (along with a whole bunch of fantastic recipes!)

If it hadn't been for Alissa's book and DVD, I would've never gotten started on my journey to healthy living!

Blessings on your journey! You'll find so much support here, and a ton of information...
Remember to keep it simple... don't sweat the small stuff AND... HAVE FUN... it's a great adventure (and a tasty one too!!!)

RAWk on!

Thanks starfire!! It all sounds so healthy and lovely - and after seeing those pics of that restaurant... i never thought raw could look soooo amazing (well, what i mean is look so like 'regular' food!).

By Aloha I see you must be from Hawaii? I'm traveling there in January for a holiday with my man - can't WAIT!! have you got any raw food restaurants out there? Also, what do you advise to MUST DO out there!?
