Hey everyone I'm just wondering which raw foods really help lower cholesterol?

Coconut oil?
Greens?

Thanks :)

Virtually all vegan raw foods will help lower cholesterol simply due to the fact that they don't contain any. Just removing all animal products is a big first step. If your liver still makes too much cholesterol all by itself, I would use foods with high soluble fiber to trap it in the colon and flush it out. My top choices would be raw oats, buckwheat, ground flaxseeds and chia seeds as these all produce a mucilagenous soluble fiber that traps cholesterol. Also eat lots of fruits that are high in pectin like apples, blueberries, oranges and apricots. Pectin is also a cholesterol trap. The idea is to surround the cholesterol with a insoluble net of fiber or pectin so the body can't reabsorb it during digestion and out it goes. ;)

Maca will raise or lower blood pressure pressure if needed. Just make sure to take a normal amount, not too much.

Coconut oil info:

Coconut oil intake in substantial amounts keeps cholesterol low, between 170 and 200 milligrams per deciliter, by promoting the conversion of cholesterol into pregnenolone to be utilized in the production of adrenal and sex hormones. Coconut oil's cholesterol-lowering effect is a regulatory action since it can also beneficially raise cholesterol when it is too low for the body's needs, thus maintaining the healthy ratio between low density lipoprotein-cholesterol and high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C).

Hi there,

No particular raw food would do it, but eating a raw (or mostly raw) vegan, whole food diet will work like a charm! :-) There is no cholesterol in any vegan food.

Blessings,

Audrey

Great thread... my father's blood work just showed he had a bad ratio of good to bad cholesterol... I suggested adding raw nuts, avocado's and flax to his diet... nice to get some confirmation on the advice I gave
