Hi... can anyone help me with a suggestion of where to start on these discussion boards? I just read the book and watched the DVD.... I would love the answer to so many questions during this learning curve....
For example:
What about Perrier or San Pellegrino... I've read the eat right for your type book and it says that my type o blood thrives on sparkling water... so true... whenever i have an upset stomach... san pellegrino works. Is that OK to have on the raw food diet?
What about Bolthouse farms Bom dia Acai and blueberry juice? does that count?
What about RealSalt's organic natural season salt... is that like herbamere?
what about raw cheese?
What about the Gerson Therapy for cancer? Does this diet go along with the same things learned in the Gerson Therapy? How might it differ if it differs at all?
I am on Digest Gold digestive enzymes... can I replace these enzymes with the Premium Enzymes on Alissa's store? are they the same thing? how do they compare?
What about green tea? everyday we drink tons of green tea lightly sweetened with raw honey.... can that count on the program?
this learning curve is difficult for me because of the information overload...
where is a good place to start?

It really is a learning curve, I may be able to answer a few ?s. Read the Rules of the board and do your best to respect them. There are many approaches to living raw, this is a raw vegan board, but there is no condemnation if you are not vegan, there is grace. One size does not fit all. If you need animal protein, it's okay. Just don't advocate an animal based diet here, or press an issue. Use the search like Raw Hope said. First, it is not an exact science. If you are just trying to "diet' or lose weight, you will. If you are trying to treat a health crisis, don't just jump in with both feet, . Start slow, with green smoothies, and pay attention to the rotation of the greens, I don't think the 60/40 ratio is necessary. Keep the smoothie simple, many people use it as a vehicle for everything. That defeats the purpose of getting it into your cells, and also may cause digestive issues. Don't go overboard with kale, or that family of veggies, or the nightshades. Also look at Gabriel Cousens books and try to tailor your raw diet for optimal health results. Don't become militant or over zealous. I had used Digest Gold for years, but I don't know how they compare to Alissa's. I stopped them when I went raw, because I felt I was getting enough enzymes from all the raw food. But I wasn't. If your type (not the blood type, more metabolic) needs fats, if you are older or have no gall bladder, auto-immune issues, etc, you need them. I went back to the gold, but have since started using my INFLAZYME, as my everyday enzyme. My inflammation is huge, and I fall into the special needs for enzyme catergory. One type or brand doesn't fit everyone's enzyme needs.
I use Realsalt, Redmonds, Himalaya, seasalt, earth salt, celtic seasalt, i just don't use iodized table salt. I've only heard of Herbamare, You might try RAW AGAVE nectar, it's pretty sweet, and lower on the glycemic index than honey. Raw is best in either, skip the one versus the other issue, maybe that thread is still here, so you can read it.
Alkalizing is important, especially for cancer. I don't know about your sparkling water, is it high or low on the ph scale? I almost gag on alkaline water, I'm okay with distilled or RO. Is the water bad or good in that area. I'm guessing I'll be on well water anywhere around Adairsville. On bottled smoothies or juice, do the math, fresh is best, even your leftovers from home are better than a plastic bottle. I take it in a almond butter jar. Just don't stress about how much there is to learn, but also don't take one person's diet needs and make it yours, figure out your own. That has taken me two years to learn, and I still haven't got it down. Welcome to RAW FOOD TALK, and maybe we'll meet when I get there.

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/welcome.gif … Aloha!! Welcome to RawFood Talk!! it can all be a little overwhelming can't it!
No worries... in time everything will fall into place. The longer you are on the journey... the more you will pick up. You don't need to know everything all at once. And you have to time to learn and expand as you grow!
When I first started... I was totally overwhelmed... lost and completely confused. SOoooo... I took the easy way out! I followed the 30 day plan in Alissa's book for the first month of my journey. As time passed I learned a bit more and little by little I added in a few things here and there. It was such a much easier pace for me... and not having to figure it all out immediately -- allowed me to figure out what I enjoyed eating, gave me time to understand all the necessary components of vitamin contents, and all the little things we need to pay attention to.
My best advice is ... don't sweat the small stuff... ENJOY the journey...
You're already MILES ahead of game ... you've read Alissa's book AND watched the DVD.... that's a GREAT start!
cruise around a bit... get comfortable on where to find things... and if you want to ... start a journal in the blogging section. There's a lot of support here!! it's great to have you joining us.

you are so cute! I love your comment about information overload... I was so there when I started...
You know -- if you have a specific question about something in Alissa's store, you can always call the office and ask someone if they can possibly find out for you if the enzymes are comparable in nutritional value, etc. Everyone there in the office is very helpful, and the customer support totally RAWks!
when I said 'don't sweat the small stuff' I meant things like tea... if you want green tea - go ahead and drink it... if you want to add some honey or agave... go ahead...
this path is about ENJOYing the journey.
no hard and fast rules...
Alissa shares with us in her book that this LIFEstyle ~ mus be DO'able so that we will be successful on our journey. It must fit in with where we are at... if it's causing us stress and making us http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/nerves.gif crazy trying to figure out every little snippet of right or wrong... then it's time to stop.... BREATHE... and remember to have fun.
Even Alissa's journey was on and off again, until it was right for her ... and time to go 100%. Yes it ABSOLUTELY is the BEST thing you can do for yourself... but remember to be patient with yourself....
You are changing a LIFEtime of habits and patterns - so be gentle with yourself... and seriously... DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF... !!!
If you have concerns about the salt - check with your local health food store .. or better yet - just order the salt from Alissa's store... you KNOW it will be the finest quality!
okay... I'll stop yapping now!!
You'll do fine... no worries okay?!!
GO FOR IT!!!
we're right here to RAWk it out with you!!!
