Just thought I'd let you shea butter lovers (or those who want to give it a try:)) know that I received an email from sheabutterhut.com and they are having a big sale. I checked and the prices are really good and they still offer the buy 2/get 1 free special. It's where I order mine from and I love it! I hope it isn't a problem to put this on Alissa's website. I looked at her online store, and it doesn't look like she sells shea butter, or I wouldn't have started this thread. Just a F.Y.I. for all of you!;)

I just bought some raw shea butter at a local fair. I thought the prices were great and no shipping! I am trying it on my old stretch marks.

this stuff is so good especially if you've been in the sun.
I also buy shea butter from sheabutterhut.com. *Ü*

Actually, use it BEFORE going under the sun. It's what the natives use for sun protection.

Been a shea butter fan for about 8 years now, and yes, it works GREAT in sunny climates! I get mine from Shea Butter Hut too - excellent quality, prompt service and good price too! I took advantage of their sale a few months back, and have a couple of tubs left in my refrigerator.

I'm glad you mentioned this Cara - I didn't know about keeping shea butter in the fridge. I'll toss my little containers in there. Makes sense! *Ü*

Hi DebB!
I just keep my EXTRA shea butter refrigerated, but the jar of my mixed-up product I have in my bathroom.
Hi! Yes, that's what I did. I've already put the extra shea butter in the fridge and keep the mixed-up lotion countertop. Thanks so much - it's goin' strong! *Ü*

Can anyone tell me the difference or advantages of shea butter over coconut oil? I have been using coconut oil on my skin after a shower but I am open to new things. Plus, it seems to be good for the sun. I spend alot of time in the sun in the winter in the Carribean.

Does shea butter help with old stretch marks??? How about any new recent scarring? I just recently got my nose pierced but it got infected & I got a cheloid...(sorry for spelling) so I took it out. Now there is a little purple/pink scar on my nose....will shae butter help that?

I just searched forum seeking to answer the same question, but didn't see an answer. What are the advantages of Shea Butter vs. Coconut Oil? I bought raw shea butter from a vender at a festival recently.

I purchased raw shae butter from an etsy shop online....is it always so gritty???? I have been putting it directly on my skin, should I be mixing it with something? I love what it does for my skin but then it looks like I've got sand on my skin from the tiny chunks...

Rub it in your hand and let the friction break down the particles before putting it on your skin. Mine doesn't come like that.

I pay $5 a tub (ziploc container) at my local farmer market. Teh vendor scoops it straight from the nut and it is so creamy and smooth. Consistent color nice natural smell and last forever.

My combo that I make up has BOTH shea butter and coconut oil in it, roughly 2 to 1 respectively, along with a bit of vegetable glycerin and lavender essential oil. Very soothing, moisturizing and healing and excellent on face and/or body. For myself, for daily body stuff I just use the straight coconut oil, but for a special treat I'll use it all over. But most of the time I just use my combo on my face. It also makes a great pre-wash treatment for curly/color-treated hair, which I have.
