Colonics?

I was reading Matt Monarch's book "Raw Success" and he is really big on doing colonics regularly. He says that eating a 100% Raw Food diet is like being on a "life time fast" and colonics remove the waste of our lifetime of poor eating and living out of our bodies instead of circulating in our blood stream causing a host of problems.

Well, I put aside my fear and had one and alls I can say is OH MY GOD!!!!!!
I feel 100% better. I feel like 30 lbs have been lifted off of my frame and I have a mental clarity and joy that is unbelievable. I had another one last night and I feel even better than the first time.

So, In addition to my Raw Foods Lifestyle, I will definitely being doing colonics for the rest of my life.

Anyone else do colonics regularly?

i have never done a colonic. I can't bring myself to do it not even an enema. Must be a memory of a childhood threat or something. I'm talking myself into an enema b4 the end of the yr.

I've never had one and haven't really researched it. I've read people's conversations on the internet (like on this site) about having good experiences with them. I'm not saying there's no validity in it. I just don't see the point of needing to do it forever. I mean, if you're having regular bowel movements, I think you'd be cleaned out enough eventually.

If you can get past your fear, you will not regret it. A friend of mine's has been doing them for a long time and everytime he would suggest it to me, I would say, NOT FOR ME!!!!! I am so glad that I did it. It has made quite a difference in the way I feel already.

I thought the same thing, however, there are years worth of gunk stuck to the intestinal walls and I think it takes a time to get it all out even if you are having regular bowel movements. I'm not here to encourage or discourage. Just giving my experience and how wonderful and light I feel.

I have posted so much on the value of colonics. I swear by them. Regular bowel movements do not rid the waste like colonics do. They, along wth green juice, take years off your age....as in make you youthful and fresh and vibrant.

Matta dn Angela have been raw for a very long time and eat 100 perc raw and they said they couldnt beleive how much stuff came outa them. So you figure it out. Do WE need them to clean out...yup.

All the cleansing is going on and the stuff needs to come out on a regular basis.

So I vote hip hip hooray for colonics. Had one three days ago and will schedule another soon.

I find colonics to be very useful when I am water only fasting because the toxins need to be removed from the colon so that they are not re-absorbed. I do not find colonics to be useful when eating because the colon is constantly filling up and moving along. I have found fresh raw whole fruit fiber to be an excellent fiber for regularity.

i totally agree with ez......only when fasting.....otherwise big waste of money and i think strange event for the body.

like chiropractic. i say rare appts. because really you want your body to do it itself but when necessary it's awesome

I have a few issues with colonics that keep me from having one.
First, there is no scientific evidence that anyone has years worth of fecal matter adhesing to their colon. Millions of coloscopies have proven this to be a myth. Anyone who proports to show you old gum/crayons/etc. that supposedly was stuck to your colon is practicing the 'gypsy and egg' trick.
Second, there is a real risk of damage to the colon through puncturing or infection from non-sterile equipment. A colon cleaning can turn into a colonectamy due to one poorly trained technician.
Third, the good bacteria in the colon are necessary and should not be disturbed. They provide immunity protection and help digest difficult to digest foods. They live in a polysaccaride slime layer that should be left alone and intact. In the same way people have learned that douching isn't good for the bacteria in the vagina and can lead to yeast infections, colon hydrotherapy isn't good for the bacteria in the colon. I work too hard to build-up my immune system to wash half of it away.
Finally, people have had heart attacks after colon hydrotherapy due to excess water absorbtion. One of the main functions of the colon is to absorb water from the remains of liquified food coming out of the small intestine so that you have fecal pellets not diarrhea (sorry to get so graphic). Because the colon is so efficient at absorbing water, it can draw the water from the colon hydrotherapy into the bloodstream and cause a potentionally fatal drop in electrolytes and blood pressure. Fainting is not uncommon, and people have died in the same way a runner can die from drinking too much water during a run.
For me, the cost, the questionable benefits, the lack of medical training of some therapists, the danger of messing with an established bacterial ecosystem, the risk of perminent damage to the colon, and the possibility of a fatal blood pressure drop more than offset any temporary weight loss. Thanks, but no thanks. A high fiber raw diet keeps my colon squeaky clean.

Having never had one and not knowing much about them, just having read what has been posted here, I gotta go with Seedy on this one. Makes the most sense to me.

Sixteen years ago I got very ill, and was diagnosed with celiac disease. This was the beginning of my quest for natural health. I had a colonoscopy at that time and was pronounced clean as a whistle. A while later I commenced on a colon cleansing routine. This did not include colonics as I had never heard of them and no-one who did them was around me, but it included herbal colon cleansing and coffee enemas. A while into my routine, I released a thing about 2 feet long that was like black rubber and shaped exactly like an intestine. So don't tell me stuff doesn't stay in there for a long time! This was exactly like the pictures you see of mucoid plaque (http://stanford.wellsphere.com/raw-food-article/what-s-in-your-colon/362547). It made a believer out of me! I think this was probably up in my small intestine, and since I only got one piece out like that, I have a feeling there is tons more in there. The intestine secretes mucus as a protective measure against assault, and with all my intestinal problems over 50 years there is surely more in there. So while there might NOT be stuff in the colon itself, I do believe colonics might stimulate the small intestine to release stuff it holds on to. I have only had two colonics and did not get any ropes out, but may try it some more.

Wow, well I know that it has done wonders for me and so much stuff came out and I have regular BM's every day. Colonics will be a welcome addition to my health regime.

if you were using colon cleansing products with bentonite clay and psyillium I suggest you put some in a glass overnight and see what form it takes.

i am quite certain after years of this kind of practice that these long tubes are in fact the bulk substances.

that said. my first colonic was profound!! i was on a fast at the time and was "on empty" and still passed a HUGE amount of old waste and mucus.

So while i do think a sweep is good for the body I also think that those products contribute to the drama

None of the hype about dangers of colonics is true. The equipment is disposable new for every client. Highly trained professionals do not puncture anything...how can they as the tube is inserted a tiny bit into the rectum, the rest inside is water?

The water is purified and infection isnt an issue.

Recolonization of flora is instituted right away with probiotics and fermented foods.

Water absorbtion is not an isue(thus heart attack!!!)..in fact, you must drink alot before and after to replace fluid as the colonic takes fluids out.

There is overwhelming evidence that this removes much debris, old built up toxins and tarlike substances as well as parasites and other such stuff.

So rawk on with colnics, you who want to change your health majorly.woohooooo

All I can go by is how I felt after my two colonics. I have not had this much mental clarity, feeling of utter cleanliness inside and lightness in my entire life!!!! I have heard too many success stories from people who have done them for years, to know that there is alot to be gained by colonics. The proof is in the pudding. I'm a believer.

green jeanie: I am also doing a MC. Today is Day Three for me. The lady that I get my colonics from suggested I have one at the beginning, middle and end of my fast, so that is what I am doing.

Good Luck.

Sorry for your experience. That must have been very scary. Myself and many others have had a good expereince with colonics and that is the reason why we rave about them.

I actually just had one and I had not eaten only had juice that didnt sit well. I was not feeling well in my belly after. It showed up as an allergy when I ate same again. I knew it was what created my discomfort. My first three were terrific!!!

However, no matter how the experience goes, I will forever rave about these as they are (according to my research as well as my own experience) one of the most profound things one can do for their health.

After recoupng from the allergy, I felt great. I love the clean, clear, vibrant, sparkly, sense of well being I get after. Ooo la la.

a side note...many commented on my before and after pictures I posted and have been adding to.....I attribute my own enemas at home (for qute a long time on a regualr basis) as well as my colonics, for creating a youthful and healthy looking ME!

you are very welcome commoncents....glad to help
