Hi Everyone,
I'm a 38yr young mom with two lovely children & a sweetie pie granddaughter. My husband is very supportive but still eats S.A.D. We live in beautiful NC near Winston-Salem.
I have wanted to go raw for months but could not quite make the move until...I bought Alissas' DVDs & book! Man!!! I wish I had found her first.....could've saved a small fortune.:D I have been raw for 4 days now, it is soooo easy. Thank Goodness for Alissa!
Love, Peace & Blessings,
Mary

That's awesome! I bought Alissa's book a long time ago, read about 15 others, then came back to Alissa 10 days ago and that did the trick - I went 100% the next morning (9 days ago).
All the best to you - this is a wonderful community.

I always try to tell people about how great Alissa's book and DVD are but you just can't understand it until you read and watch them. I too have read many other books and alot of them have been great but Alissa's has everything in one book. Hey, it's great to have you on the forum. Enjoy raw!!!!

Thanks Everyone for the warm welcome! I'm sooooo glad to have found this site!
Margo: There are no raw restaurants around here ( walnut cove) ...I think Charlotte & Raliegh may have one. Charlotte had a raw potluck at one time....not sure if they still continue.
Peace , Love & Blessings

I am visiting Charlotte (actually, north of it in Mooresville) for a week, starting Sunday Aug 23. Any raw restaurants? Any grocery stores with organic food?
Thanks!

Yes, I'll be there for work. I looked at the Whole Foods website, do you drive up to Winston-Salem? That seems like a long drive. How do you stay raw? Are there any vegan-friendly restaurants?
Thanks!

Sorry..I meant Fresh Market which is at exit 28 on Hwy 77. I always get them confused. Just so you know, if you ask directions, everything is given by the exit number...23, 25 etc. I'm at 36 which is Mooresville. It's been very humid with off & on rain..bring an umbrella.

Welcome to the raw lifestyle. I worked in W-S before I retired in November. I live in Kannapolis. I go to the Davidson Farmers Market by the town hall on Saturday which has many organic items - for the visitor to Mooresville. I also go to the Home Economist Market in Davidson, they have a few raw prepared items. It is at 261 Griffin St in a small shopping center at Exit 30. Coming from 77 it would be on your right not far from the exit. After you leave there you could take a right out of the shopping center and take the next right just over the RR tracks and the Farmer's Market would be on your left about 3 or 4 parking lots after the 4 way stop sign, you will see the people and the white sun shelters. I did read in the Charlotte Observer that a raw restaurant was opening in the South End in Charlotte soon. You could also call Maestro's Cafe @ 704 872-4949 in downtown Statesville and ask for Chef Michael Spencer and tell him you would like to dine there. Someone told me he is very accommodating and would prepare raw food if requests were made in advance.

Thanks for the several suggestions. I won't be there on Saturdays but hopefully I can find some organic greens, veggies, and fruit somewhere. And now I have two places I can check out for prepared foods, most appreciated.
Are there other vegan-friendly places?
