I have the Vitamix 5200 (comes w/ a 64 oz container). Due to peanut/nut allergies in my family, I am trying to prevent cross contamination - so I thought I would get a 2nd container (i.e., have 1 container for nuts only vs. no-nuts).

Any opinion on the 32 oz container? Is it easier to make small batches? I seem to do ok making 1-2 cup smoothies with the 64 oz. I have yet to try other raw recipes (i.e., preparing batches for crackers, etc). Would I outgrow the 32 oz quickly? Thanks a bunch!

Your smoothies are so small, that's why it seems like 64 oz is big. When I make a smoothie or soup, it's close to capacity. 32 oz container should be good for the reasons you gave, though I would find it quite limiting.

How can you "outgrow" something so useful? You can make personal soups, smoothies, dips, dressings, all KINDS of things. I'm VERY happy I got it. Just used it this morning to make the chocolate filling for Rawmazing's (http://rawmazing.com) Strawberry Cream Pie.

I would get the 64oz. You can make as less as you want and also make as much as 64oz.

She's already got it. Asking about a 2nd container.

I got the 32 oz as a second container, feeling exactly how the op described and I definitely think it would have been smarter to get the 64 oz.

I feel like I am always making something for just me....that the 32 oz size would be better - but you know what....there isn't anything I have made in my 64 that I thought gosh it would have been simpler or easier or better if I had done it in a smaller container. So why limit yourself - you never know when you go to use that backup that you really needed it to be 64oz.

I did read it......My response was to get another 64oz and not the 32oz.

To me the ONLY reason to consider the 32 oz would be to save some cabinet space in my very small kitchen as then it would fit under my cabinets.

Having said that, I would still probably go with another 64 oz.

I'm helpful, aren't I? :)
