Well as I posted recently I was dx with low morning and noon cortisol (saliva test) with normal evening/night levels. I have been through terrible stress and loss the past few years and I think thats what caused it plus suffer anxiety/panic attacks and they cause high adrenalin which exhausts the adrenals. Anyway, done a lot of research and also bought Dr Wilson's Adrenal Fatigue book which is excellent. I did find out that my habit of eating a large fruit salad every morning was the worse thing I can do, high potassium is bad for exhausted adrenals :( I did start putting a pinch of Himalayan salt under my tongue first thing in the morning as David Wolfe recommends and makes sense. My quandary is what to eat. After all the research and the book its conclusive that the adrenals need protein which perhaps I was not eating enough of. Therein lies the problem, we are always told in raw teachings that protein is in everything and that we all eat too much of it but apparently not quite the case for adrenal fatigue. So I prefer not to eat animal proteins but searching for ideas if anyone has any. I am taking supplements that support the adrenals, vitamin C is #1 and B complex is necessary also. Thanks for any ideas, also found I am sensitive to glutens :( anneh

I also read Wilson's "Adrenal Fatigue" and found it disturbing because he says repeatedly that salt is good for you and potassium is not. Salt is toxic and promotes cancer. Sodium deficiency is rare. Dr. Max Gerson put all his patients on salt-free diets and gave them potassium supplements. He found that on this regimen they rarely were deficient in sodium. I don't have all the answers, but be very cautious in following Wilson's advice. He also warns against fruit eating, which is nonsense, in my opinion.

Adrenal fatigue is just a new name for an old syndrome that used to be called neurasthenia. It is not something that can reverse our natural dietary needs. Fruit is still good for you and salt is still poison, regardless of what Dr. Wilson says. And this includes Himalayan salt.

Charlotte Gerson stated, "This potassium medication is primary to the treatment of tissue damage syndrome (the penetration of sodium into tissues), found in all cancers and in most other degenerative diseases."

Before you go with this 'concept' check out some other research on this. There's opposing views with 'imperial' research too, just not at my finger tips...but there always is : )

Here we go again. I'm sorry, I just get dizzy. I go from hyper to fatigue, all the time. I have been dealing with it for over about 1 1/2 years. and what you are saying about fruit and protein really fits. I am forever working on this one. Fats too. i was just reading a bunch of stuff the other day at the womantowoman site. Keep working on your own research and evaluation.

Just to clarify, it's "empirical" research/evidence. Means observation, experimentation, or experience. Wiki Empirica (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empirical)l.

Anneh, consider doing morning green smoothies with a raw protein powder. There are some raw hemp protein powders. Also Amazing Greens has a supplement called Amazing Meal. It has raw hemp and rice protein and an abundance of healthy greens. As for the sodium and potassium, you should keep in mind that must nutrients are best gotten through food so that they are in their natural proportions. Some nutrients need others together to work effectively. Take for example calcium it needs magnezium and vitamin D to work effectively. That said, I do use sea salt on occaision because I tend to flush it out and not retain enough fluids (I guess I am one of those rare indivdiuals that needs more sodium). Chlorella and spirulina are great for added energy and healing. Alissa sells chlorella in her store.

I can't imagine fruits would be harmful to your body......any raw food is healing to your body. It would be one thing if you were eating like toast or cereal in the morning...getting your carbs from a processed source but you're not. Raw food will provide you nutrients so you can utilize everything in it.

.......just something to think about

Lately I have been enjoying a simple green salad of lettuce, a small amount of olive oil tossed with about 3 Tablespoons shelled hemp seeds, 2 Tablespoons of nutritional yeast, and a pinch of Sun-Fire salt (includes 4 different types of salt). I read on the packages that the hemp has 11 grams of protein and the yeast has 8 grams. My simple salad has 19 grams of protein and that doesn't even include the greens!!! I figure that must why I crave it. I need more protein.

As for getting protein at breakfast... how about a fruit smoothie of nut milk, frozen fruit and a green food powder. One of my favorites is almond milk, frozen strawberries (and sometimes pineapple) with Vitamineral Green and spirulina. Breakfast of champions. :)

Eating a large amount of fruit for breakfast, and/or only fruit for breakfast and lunch doesn't work for me. It makes me feel weak and shaky in the late afternoon. I thought if was a blood sugar thing, but now I wonder if it is the adrenal issue.
