Hi there. I have been doing raw for about 2 or 3 months. I lost about 20 lbs VERY quickly and several inches, it was amazing! I had never seen anything like it in my life, in all my YEARS of dieting!!!!!! I have Fibromyalgia, among several other things, and I have been feeling better and better. Of course, I still have bad Fibro, but it's better. It's amazing. HOWEVER. I've been stalled for a couple months and I know what it is...I just need advice though. FIRST...I don't exercise. It is SOOOO hard to get started!!!! I KNOW, full and well w/ all my head and heart, that once I get started, in a couple weeks, I'll be going good and feeling much better. But it's just so hard. SECOND...I eat a LOT of nut butter. For my breakfast and my evening snack...I have quite a LOT of diff nut butters mixed w/ coconut oil, honey, cacao nibs, and maybe some maca powder and eat it w/ a banana. It is HEAVENLY!!!!!!!! I am SOOOOOO addicted to it!!!!!!!!! And I know anything u are addicted to is something u need to give up. But I'm wondering...how would I get my fat? How much fat do I need? I also have a BIG green smoothie in the morning/afternoon. I have a big pitcher and I fill it evenly w/ fresh apple and carrot juices. So I take about 3 cups of that, a frozen banana, a big handful of frozen blueberries and mixed fruit, wheatgrass powder, hemp seeds, bee pollen, a scoop of this really good whole food vanilla protein powder that's loaded w/ good vitamins and good stuff, and a little sweetener (agave or raw honey), OH, and two HUGE handfulls of fresh spinach....I think that's all I put in it, does that sound amazingly healthy & yummy though?!?!?!? Seriously!!!!! And then I may eat some grapes. And then a salad w/ mixed baby lettuces w/ spinach and some bagged brocolli slaw mix, maybe some shredded cabbage slaw (the dry bagged mix u can buy) and then I make & dehydrate this "walnut burger" stuff and then this "brocolli w/ chedda" recipes I put on my salad and I make this YUMMY caesar salad dressing I have in a book which is made w/ pumpkin seeds. YUMMY SALAD. Pretty big salad. So what do u think???? I think I'm doing AMAZINGLY except for the two items above. I think that if I wld get going w/ exercise good, that I cld even keep the PB. But then I saw the youtube video where Matt and Paul were duking it out over cacao and Matt saing it was a good intermediary food...but I think I want to get past intermediary. I've also had some spaghetti w/ healthy noodles and this sun-dried tomato pesto sauce a few x's, including all this past week for lunch instead of the salad...but then I noticed the flem and the bloated and so I am DONE w/ that cheat here & there. Oh! last thing, I do NOT like avocados or olives, I have TRIED, but I do NOT. So....wow...pretty long-winded here. But I really truly hope I can get some good advice. THANKS!!!!! Kris xoxoxoxo

the nut butters have a lot of calories in them but it's great you're doing so good. If it bothers that you're eating so much nut butter, I take that as your body saying no...we need to listen to it, myself included. Try cutting back on how much you put in the mix a little each day until you're an acceptable amt. I like this too. I don't use as many nut butters but I have a banana/1/2 tsp honey-soaked walnuts-almond butter-smidgen of coconut oil every day. I put only enough on to taste it. Trust me, I could smother it in it & eat about 3 a day but I won't.
Smoothies sound great. Exercise...just start out walking for 15 minutes per day for a few days then and a minute or 2 until your doing 30. Me, I have to do in early in the am or it doesn't get done. None past 3 days for that exact reason. When I don't get it in for a few days, it's hard to start back.
Glad the fibro is doing better. I know several people with fibro-crohn's- digestive issues, I tell them about raw & they just want to take meds. It's their choice but it's good your helping yourself with what you eat. Keep a journal or blog about it for others dealing with it.

You can make key lime pie with avos and not even know there's avos in it.

Also, just out of curiousity~ the peanut butter? Raw? The vanilla protein powder ~ raw? and why?

You say you've been raw for 2-3 months, eliminated 20 pounds yet been "stalled" for the last couple of months, so, if I'm reading this correctly, you eliminated the weight in the first month... then stopped?

If so, what changed? What did you add/eliminated after that first month.

Yeah, what margoss said about walking. Get in some stretching after the walk and you'll be doing even better than you are. Nice to see someone as excited as you are about what's happening. Keep it up.

Well, you've got basically three choices to make. You can cut back on the high calories 'junk food' in your diet, put on your running shoes and hit the streets, or accept yourself at your current weight and be happy with yourself 'as is'. But I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. Peanut butter isn't raw, cacao isn't a health food, agave nectar isn't really good for you, if you're adding hemp to your smoothies you don't need 'vanilla protein powder (is that even raw?) as hemp is already a good source of protein, and too many nut burgers, nut-based salad dressings, pesto with nuts, etc. will make you fat. Just look at Victoria Boutenko. She's considered one of the mothers of the modern raw food movement, yet has struggled to keep her weight under 200 lbs. due to her family's high fat raw diet. Don't try to turn the raw food diet into the Standard American Diet or you'll be no better off then you were before. Pick one fat source for the day, say your nut butter concoction if you want that, and enjoy it. Then eat the rest of your meals low-fat. Go for a walk after dinner (get a dog if you need encouragement). Be happy in the now. Good Luck,
Seedy

Thanks Seedy...I agree with that. I was struggling a little thinking I had to incorporate so much & was concerned with all the nut recipes. I love nuts but am trying to get the wt down & feel better. I noticed when I was doing a lot of nuts, the wt loss stopped. since I've cut back, it's slowly decreasing again. I wouldn't eat avacado if I had nuts but I figured, I don't have to eat 3 avacados a day.
