Hi,
I just started doing a raw food diet and just have a few questions. I'm only about 95% raw (I eat non-raw olives and herbal tea) but besides that I eat pretty well raw.

I occasionally count my calories, and I did so yesterday, and I find I am a bit under what is recommended (only 800-900) and I think I meant to be around 1400 for weightloss.

I've heard that eating too little calories can slow down your metabolism and limit weightloss. I eat regular meals, but I am worried about this happening. Is this likely to happen? Or will it just mean I lose weight a little faster? I eat all I want, I just don't really want much.

Also, what quantity of nuts is reasonable for a raw food diet? I've always been cautious as they contain oil, and I don't want to over eat them. I might eat a handful or two a day of a nut mix I make, is this too much? What is sort of the standard?

There is no need to count calories on raw food. If you have weight to lose it will come off gradually in all the right places. Nuts are to be eaten in moderation. Only you can determine what moderation means for you.

Some people will say that you shouldn't eat more nuts than you would be able to crush with a stone, which would probably be a handful or two. Others might say that you can eat as many as you want if you still feel good.
I think both are valid arguments. Finding out what works best for you is really the key there.

I don't think that you should worry about eating them because of the oils since those fats are good for you. It has more to do with digestion since nuts are pretty hard to digest.
