Hi everyone. My name is Tena and I've been 'learning' about the raw food lifestyle for a while. I've read a lot of books and have attended some raw food potlucks. I semi-recently got a Champion Juicer and a Vita-Mix Blender (on craigslist for really cheap!) and have been doing a lot of green smoothies.

I recently quit drinking in June, and just stopped smoking a short time ago. Both of those were my biggest hindrances to going raw . Now, I'm working toward eating more and more raw. :D

So glad to have found this forum. I look forward to connecting and sharing!

Thanks for the welcomes!

@green jeanie - I lived in Chapel Hill for a year and found that there was a small raw food scene there. I actually went to my first raw food potlucks in Chapel Hill/Carrboro. They were awesome and I met some really cool people. Also, there is a the Weaver Street Market - which has a lot of great options and a lot of fun activities going on. If you include Raleigh in that area, I would say there is a nice sized raw food scene. :)

There are a few meetups on Meetup.com in the area, but you may have to drive to Raleigh - not bad. This one is the one I went to - http://rawfood.meetup.com/290/

As far as I know, there are no raw food restaurants there - yet.

Hey....we're in the Lake Norman area & go to Asheville several times a yr....DD loves the Biltmore house & grounds so we get an annual pass. so peaceful when your away from the house area. We'll be up there next month for Biltmore Homeschool event. It's usually just 20.00 per person & includes the house. I think it'll be the same thing this yr!!

definitely get together with philip :). He's insanely inspirational and full of good energy. I'd imagine if you go to Greenlife they'd have a list of the raw food meetups and classes... not sure if philip is involved with those yet or not (I'm guessing he will be soon!).

I'm actually from chattanooga, but we have Greenlife's sister store here. I keep reading about all the classes offered in Asheville but not here, Asheville sounds like a great place for rawbies :). Chattanooga will get there I'm sure... it's going to take a lot of work though.

Try "meetup.com" to meet other people with similar interests in your area, and see where it goes from there!! Good luck on both your raw food journey and finding a new roommate!!
