Hi, I'm new to the group and to the diet. I posted an intro in the introduction forum also. I really love this forum and after much research, I'm very interested in eating raw. Here are my concerns:

I don't like to put together recipes (just like I hate to cook, thank goodness!) so I would be eating fruits, veggies, salads, smoothies, nuts and seeds for the most part. Would a breakfast of fruit and lunch and dinner of veggies, seeds and nuts be enough to keep me healthy and give me enough protein to build muscle? I lift weights.

Second, I've read some posts about cavities forming and hair loss and although I understand the detoxing (I'm going through it now!) this scares me. Can anyone help me with more information about this, because the more I know, the better I feel and the less fear I have.

Third, I'd love to hear from posters who have done this for a year or longer to hear about your experiences with detoxing, how often, etc. and parasites and emptying out the colon, etc. and what you eat for the most part throughout a day AND getting enough calories!

I'm committed to doing this, but I'm looking for some reassurance. Thanks for your patience and information! I am getting the book, also.

Kelly

You can plan your meals but until you start eating raw you won't know what really works for you. I mean, everyone is different. I use to eat raw one way and now I do it another. And listen to your body. It will tell you what it needs.

Somedays I eat a lot, somedays I eat a little. Right now I eat fruit till dinner. Then greens and protein for dinner. Before that I would eat fruit till lunch, then a salad and nuts at lunch, and a partly raw dinner.

Hope this helps a bit.

If you've not gotten Alissa's book and dvd's, please do so. Alissa has been lifting for many years. If you read her book thoroughly, your fears should be laid to rest. And btw ~ after you finish it and are making some truly luscious foods, re-read it again.

If you are concerned about not getting enough protien and other nutrients like I was you can input a days meals into this website and then ask it to show you the nutritional breakdown. I was shocked to see that I was getting tons of protien! I also found out what I was lacking in (or having way too much of) and was able to make changes. The website is www.mypyramid.gov.
