any suggestions on how to prepare this? I put it in my mixed veggies tonight but I can't stand that slime. I'm pretending I can't taste it but then I saw it. It's a flash back to seeing someone eating boiled okra in milk with cornbread when they had a cold/runny nose...get the picture:eek:. That was 27 yrs ago & I still remember it:(.

And now you feel like you have to ruin okra for everyone else by sharing that picture.

I am deliberately refusing to paint that picture in my mind. But since you mentioned okra and slime, I have to point out that soaked flax is slimy, as is chia seed. I LOVE chia seed pudding. If you don't like the tapioca-like texture with the little beads, then just blend it after it soaks in your mixture. It has a lovely almost cooked thickened consistency.
So my point is, don't try to use okra in pieces that have a slimy consistency that you don't like, just blend it in with your soups for thickening and get the nutrition from it that way.

I like using it in the recipe below:
Okra Salad
Okra, chopped
Garlic, chopped
Onion, chopped
Olive Oil
Coconut Vinegar (should work w/other Vinegar too).
I've also eaten it marinated with just olive oil.
