Yes, this is my 3rd time going raw. (You can read my 1st Intro Post here (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=18058).) In both fall of '06 & spring of '07 I had 2 really good runs where I was 100% or high raw for a couple of months. I'm not even sure why I fell off the wagon, but unfortunately I did. But I've always remembered how good I felt when raw & how much I enjoyed the lifestyle of being raw.
So fast forward 2 years... by chance, I found out about Austin's 1st raw food restaurant called Daily Juice Cafe. And I exclaimed to my husband how I wish it would have been around when I 1st went raw in 2006. There were days I felt lost or discouraged & it would have been great to have a raw restaurant to go to & taste new recipes to be inspired by... or enjoy guilty free raw meals on days when I was feeling lazy in the kitchen. ;) The very next day, I made up my mind to go raw again. It was just the "excuse" I needed. :p
It's been a pretty easy transition this time. Most days I'm 100% raw, occasionally I'm high raw (90%+). I'm down 6 lbs already. I already had all the kitchen gear (juicer, dehydrator, food processor, blender, etc) so all I needed was fresh food. (Altho I want a high speed blender badly.) And I was just so ready for a positive change that I fell easily into step and haven't had a lot of temptations to eat cooked food. I was literally sick & tired of being sick & tired, so I had great motivation to be raw again.
The best part is my husband has been high raw with me for the 1st time ever. (He's more in the 75%+ range.) In the past, he'd have a raw meal with me here or there, but never committed to being raw. But now he's on week 2 & is trying really hard, even making dehydrator recipes & everything. It's been great to have another person in my home eating raw with me. It's certainly not so alienating @ dinner time, lol. The support I've gotten from him has been invaluable & has definitely been a bonding experience. He's lost weight & is feeling good too.
So hello, again, to everyone. I look forward to getting to know everyone & sharing raw experiences with you all. Cheers! :D
