I've been wanting to start something like this, while also incorporating a fish tank to supply nutrients/recycle the water.
I'd be glad to try one of these window units for starters and share ideas with others here who want to try it.

I'll check into it some more. I didn't have much time when I first ran across it. It looks like it would be great in my huge kitchen window above the sink. It faces South and would be a great window to grow herbs. So often I reach for the dried stuff, because I'm too lazy to go into the garden and get fresh herbs. Having them in the kitchen window would be very convenient. It would make a great looking "curtain".:)
