So much clearer, I was FINALLY able to finish one of my writing projects that I have been working on for quite awhile now. I spent almost all day yesterday on it - and getting it all together and ready to send down to a friend who is a publisher/editor. Just knowing that more clarity comes from eating a diet rich in raw fruits/veggies and raw/unsalted nuts/seeds make me believe in it even more!

I am a writer too. I've been in a slump lately but this lifestyle has given me renewed mental clarity and energy. I'm rarin' to write now! (And perhaps leap over a tall building or two.) ;)

Did it take a couple weeks or months to get clear? I find I am groggy and fuzzy my first week. At what point did you realize you had more energy and clarity?

Well, for me it happened fairly quickly. It's only been about a week and a half since I've started eating this way. I've already had headaches and some stomach upset but just this morning I realized how clear and open I feel inside. A sense of spaciousness. This even though I haven't been completely raw yet.

I have been vegan for several years, but only raw off and on for about a year. I seem to always crave bread or chips or salad dressing or sweet tea or something. I can stay vegan, I have that under control, but going raw is difficult. I definetly feel better when I am eating raw, but I just don't know. I start off kinda wanting some chips and then I just eat them. I want to do the right thing, I am really confused.

You know, Samuel, it sounds like you're putting a lot of pressure on yourself to eat a certain way. The fact that you're already vegan is exemplary; I wasn't even that when I decided to go raw. I was putting a lot of pressure on myself too but recently decided to relax and do the best I could. From what I understand from others in this forum it can take a day, weeks or even years to go completely raw. I've discovered it's been easier to eat what I "should" once I decided to take the pressure off and do it one day (one meal) at a time. There's an expression I've seen here, persistence not perfection, or something like that. Stick to it and the results will come.

ebonysea7-
Well stated. I find that taking it slowly and forgiving the slip ups has help me to make this lifestyle change.
Sicilian Girl-
I think I started having a sense of clarity after about the 3rd week. Not to mention I was about 10-12 lbs lighter. At that point, if I did happen to eat something cooked or even a small "taste" of something not vegan, I was able to detect my body's reactions within a hour or so. It seemed almost immediate which made it easy to know what to stay away from.

Gail,
So very, very true! I've been transitioning to raw since February 14th ... and had been putting so much pressure on myself that all I really accomplished was setting myself up for slip-ups!! If I could do one day totally raw, I was lucky.
Once I stopped the pressure and just decided that I'd take it meal by meal, with no pressure if I did slip up, I was able to go 100%. I did about ten days straight a week or so ago. Unfortunately, I hit a rough patch in life which caused me to have a few slips, so I'm working on getting back to 100%. But I'm not beating myself up any longer, so it's much, much easier.
