Friday I am going to the store and we are going to start eating raw. I love that it's summer and there is so much fresh produce. What should go on my list??? What do you have on your lists??? What are your favorite things to eat?

Do you have Alissa's book? It really lists items you'd need to get yourself started.

Do you want to dehydrate foods?

Do you have a food processor?

Do you have a blender?

I'd say keep it simple. Eat seasonally. Do you all like salads?

Smoothies fill one up and you get a ton of food already broken down so your body can assimilate it quicker.

It's up to YOU and what YOUR tastes are.

I always like to have fresh fruit, things to make green smoothies and salads, nuts and seeds, I also keep the basics for desserts. Like Vegan for life mentioned, Alissa's book has the basic pantry items in a list. She also has a section that gives you 4 weeks of menus with the shopping list to go with it.....it's really great. I'd say for your first time list just make a menu for the week and get all the stuff you'll need for it....pretty much like you would eating any other way.

I agree...Alissa's grocery list is a great place to get ideas.

Eating raw food is very personal. Check out simple recipes and only make the ones that sound good to you. Don't put in an ingredient if it is something you do not like....instead substitute a similar tasting food (sweet, sour, salty, etc).

When you are in the produce section, if a fruit smells good to you as you are walking by, definately buy it.

My summer food staples have been: avocado, lemons, bananas, peaches, tomatoes, young coconuts, parsley, olives, mint, and raw chocolate.

I would not let flax seed off my list. Get your essential fatty acids every day.
I could get by on fruit, greens and flax seeds.

I love this advice.

No I'm not, we are in Panama City. Thanks for the offer though. I'm debating on getting a dehydrator. We are trying to cut back on energy consumption, so it's an ongoing debate with me as to if I get one or not. I keep leaning towards getting/making a solar dehydrator.
